Background

The Slaughter Priest does not speak much of his past to anyone. But what is known, based on his many knowing remarks, suggests that he was born a peasant and that he was driven out of his village when the “gift” or the “curse”, depending on how you look at it, was bestowed upon him by the gods.
Thereafter, the Slaughter Priest joined a chartered mercenary band that was headed to serve with some minor lord in the River Kingdoms. The relationship did not last long however as the band was betrayed by its own employer. The Slaughter Priest survived the ambush and proceeded to murder carrion pickers left behind by the ambushers. He left the River Kingdoms shortly thereafter.

The Slaughter Priest first met the man who goes by the name “Professor Lorrimor” long ago in distant Cheliax, as the latter was researching a particularly disturbing rumor of a gate between worlds. The Professor saw The Slaughter Priest face off against a mob in the ill-named establishment -- the Inn of the Seven Deadly Sins. Though not a betting man, the Professor was certain that the man he would later come to know as the Slaughter Priest was doomed until that man removed the armored plate shielding his face. The reaction of the mob was one of abject terror and in no time, the Slaughter Priest was alone in the common room except for the Professor, who seeing the benefits of a bodyguard who can dispel a mob with a look, immediately hired him.

On many occasions thereafter, the Professor would summon the Slaughter Priest to his side and always did the Slaughter Priest protect the Professor from his curiosity.

The news of the death of Professor Lorrimor deeply saddened the Slaughter Priest, who to this day feels that he should have been there.
