About The Rain Dog

"My earliest memories do not include a name, only a title, and that title was, 'Servant.' When I came of age, and left my adoptive Taldor family, I took a name of my own. I think few would blame me."

The Rain Dog was a Shoanti orphan raised in the home of a lesser Taldor noble. The noble's wet nurse took care of the child until he was old enough to work around the house. From that point on, he was a servant without a name. He was never told how he came to Taldor, or why the noble family took him in, but he was allowed to learn some things and wasn't abused. This upbringing led the child to become confused at times, upset at others, but never outright vengeful against his adoptive house. He had learned about the Pathfinder Society at a young age, and when he grew old enough, he left Taldor and joined the Society. Since his departure, he took the name, "Rain Dog," after a phrase he heard a strange old traveler say.

"You know what a rain dog is? When a mongrel strays too far from home, and the rain washes away all familiar scents, he gets lost and disconnected from everything he knows. He keeps searching for something he can't remember, and he'll never find his way home. That's a rain dog."

During the first few weeks after joining the Society, the Rain Dog's personality attracted the attention of several Shadow Lodge members. In Taldor, he had grown to distrust men and women of power, and he showed an interest for Pathfinders who had come under severe hardships during their missions. He asked questions that maybe he shouldn't have, and wondered if his decision to become a Pathfinder was the right one. He became a member of the Shadow Lodge to answer that question, and finally find a place for himself.
