Well, my PCs managed to capture the rust monster in the basement and want to train him for their own use. How should I handle this?

I was thinking of making them first assemble a cage that can hold it, then hire a trainer for it, treating it as an animal that can only learn so many tricks. Any ideas?

Why are phanatons not extinct? They appear to be much furrier than monkeys (more like Siberian huskies, in most of the illustrations)--perfect for a Pleistocene climate--but they live in a modern tropical rainforest environment! And, unlike sloths, they seem to be extremely active. Maybe there's some sort of magic at work here (resistances: fire 10? immunities: nonlethal heat damage?)

They live on the Isle of Dread, explanation enough. things don't go extinct there.

And strangly enough, a Paladin.

The Paladin is already planning on becoming a Blackguard, which I really have no problem with, based on where the AP is headed. The Warlock wants to become a Acolyte of the Skin. The Cleric is going to multiclass and become a True Necromancer. And the Binder is just broken.

So, how can I torture them best?
