Lyra sighs, then lets her brother have the day, which he accepts and goes around chatting and helping as there is need.

Lyra returns, dressed in the same arms and armor, subtly adjusted for her figure. "Hello, sir and mam" she bows to the older couple. She wants to thank them for the opportunity but doesn't cause that seems like she is too desperate for something to do.

Lyra stretches, as sleep is suggested. It has been a long day. "Let me know if you think we'll need words or swords in the morning please." she asks the cleric, so she can decide if her or her brother will have the day.

"The tower is a corkscrew through time." Lyra says with an arched brow of curiosity.

Lyra has a goal, and anything she can do (that doesn't burden her conscience) she will do. But Gavin and the Witness still seem to her to be the best strategy to the top. "Sorry Joska." she says, friendly but turning her down again. Then finds a table to sit on while the book keepers keep books.

Lyra sighs, "No, dear Gavin, I will accompany you." Her inclination to follow the role of spellcaster protector is just as strong as ever. She will fidget, but otherwise not be too annoying.

The word report makes Lyra's face fall, but she catches it into a hesitant smile "If you need help..." inwardly she is hoping the answer is no.

off to the new adventure sounds good to me. Lyra/Seth will train, talk to people, and commune/search the tower, for any downtime, but that's just the norm for them at this point.

While having more people helps (especially with banter), finding someone for a high-level game with a lot of backstory is hard. So I don't know.

Okay, that is what I thought, just wanted to be sure. No on the rest, she has probably already shared more than the Witness would like her to.

Sorry, Lyra is just conversing not trying to create theories, which is why I keep having her shrug and not come off excited. Unlike when she has the possibility of a fight or bantering about eating a giant snake. but she will try

"The tower is an aberration so all fundamentals about causality will need to be discarded." she frowns a little, realizing she is sounding slightly like a certain wizard who has annoyed her fiercely but she still misses.

So she tries her way "Think of the world as an orange, but flatten it so we can imagine it like a disk. So you have a flat orange for every place the tower touches the world, with the tower spearing up into them like with a shish kabob. "

"So you got your fruity timeline shish kabob, but then someone goes along one of the oranges and makes something go BOOM, like a... Oh, like if someone squeezed the orange, sending juice all about." She pauses her highly technical talk to deal with a problem of logic that Maximus has already raised his hand about "Yes, I know the orange is flat so the juice would have squirted out long ago, but this is a magical orange that doesn't lose juice by flattening." she waits until his hand goes down, then continues "The juice splatters up and Down, mingling the orange of one time with another time, creating something new."

She stops and thinks, then nods "That is what I'm thinking. I don't know what the 'New' is, but it is new, different, confusing, and causing problems, and most importantly someone else is experimenting with it already." the all saw the contraption in the river. "So we should stop them." and then There comes the gleam of excitement in her eyes, the prospect of battling the someone.

"Proposing?" Lyra paused, blinked, and then shook her head "I have no idea and no way of finding out. Traveling into different times, never worried you that you might be changing time? I mean I was worried about stepping on ants even and you are smarter than me."

Lori listens to the questions, cocks her head after a moment of thought and then says "Yes"

But after another pause, she tries to expand "The tower could be the relationship. A timeline at the base changes something, creating a new timeline shooting up, into the time period at the new level, shattering into new splintered lines, and then up into the next and the next until we get to the top." she shrugs after that comment.

"Didn't we see something similar in that manor with the creepy dolls?" Lyra asks Gavin, since he was the only other person there. She will relate everything she can remember which will be more then the player by far

Once she realizes what is going on, she says to Maximus "I'll take Joska" and flies quickly to the sprite to help if danger erupts. She would normally do this for Gavin, but in explosive situations, Maximus is simply better at taking the brunt of something like that.

After a moment of trying to get a fang out, Lyra had been chatting softly to Maximus so not to disturb the investigators. At the moment before Joska makes the announcement, she is saying "I hear snakes takes like chicken, and this is One Really large chicken, so-" what the rest of that was going to be is lost to agitated river machinery planned destruction.

Lyra is standing guard as the investigators investigate.

"Someone needed to get bitten. That is why we are part of the party, don't you know Max?" she mock sighed, looking as put out as possible, but a grin erupted when she continued with "We Look Tasty. So the monsters want to eat us while they get all the important work like investigating strange machines in the middle of an enchanted river." the last part was directed at the mage and cleric.

Its the vampire all over again :)

Lyra flashes Gavin an exaggerated eye roll, spoiled by a smile. But before she could get to it, the snake was a frozen popsicle. "Nice work, Joska!" she calls to the spritely woman flying high above.

Relearning a complicated mythic character first thing in the morning is prone to errors, so bare with me please.

"I hoped that would have worked" Lyra sighed but only half-heartedly since now she could fight a GIANT SNAKE! Like an arrow following out of the sky, the swordswoman shoots at the creature.

She seems to be having TOO much fun, almost playing with the snake instead of trying to kill it.

When they realize the grass is too high, Lyra offers to cast one of her flight spells on the cleric so he can firebomb it from the sky. "Fly with me?" the swordswoman hovers in the air, reaching down with her hand to him.

Lyra had already cast plenty on her before coming to this overgrown delight her daily and dungeon ones but after a moment's consideration, she casts one of her favorites... Fly.

Lyra spends a minute stretching, enjoying the magic allowing her to move with even more grace and speed. "Thank you, Gavin." she says with anticipation. She might not want to kill if she didn't have to, but she still LOVED a good fight.

Lyra the wind whispers back "If we don't have to kill it, that would be better. We could try scaring it away, but if I was a snake That big, I wouldn't see us as anything more than dinner." she thinks as they sway in the air. "How about fire? most animals with any sense fear fire, right? Maybe Gavin could try one of his big balls of fire?[/smaller]" she suggests if they decide that the rest of them are all ready to zoom in and finish it if it isn't sensible.

So the snake is 10 feet away from the strange device? Since we need to investigate the device, just trying to see if it is a requirement to engage the snake in some way. I don't think we are stealthy enough to do so otherwise.

Also is the device in the center of the river, or near the shore? Anyone got knowledge nature or engineering?

"Odd though" Lyra says when tapping her chin with her gauntlet clad finger. "Since the water isn't exploding with us standing here, I wonder if it has to touch something from the tower, not just be near it. So if we found a container from this time, and scoped up some, would it blow up too?" she is wondering this while Gavin starts his spell "Not that I care to experiment, just passing time."

Lyra sends a quick glare at the mage's remarks, as she hurries over to help bandage the cleric's hand.

"Ready" Lyra tells her defensive charge, flashing him a quick smile and warns him not to get that vial confused with a normal potion.

Lyra is much more activity oriented than investigative. And loves banter so will always willing to do that. She is not the person you want to put in charge of figuring something out, even though she is intelligent. She also isn't much of a spellcaster even though she has the spell we need to cast a lot to figure things out.

Seeing Joska's hesitation, Lyra asks "We are in this together, at least for the moment, so if there is anything you think of that is important or need us to do, please share. Please." the swordswoman asks, friendly, not confrontational.

"Is this a case of the tower leaking into this timeline, place, realm? Is this something we need to correct, to keep the balance and harmony of the timeline or should we just allow it to happen because it is supposed to?" The last discussion with the Witness is still in her mind, and it was not a pleasant memory. So Lyra had no idea what to do here.

Lyra squints but sees nothing, "So the water itself isn't magic, but drops of the blue inside it, is?" she asks the cleric with honest curiosity.

Lyra opens an eye before starting to commune, giving Joska a smile "I'm not exactly the spellcasting type" then she starts... ten minutes of sitting, has her pop open both eyes and exclaims "It's the water!" she pops up.

"Sorry, I don't have anything more than that, but we should look for the nearest big body of water."

A few minutes later, the dark haired swordswoman comes back Beaming. "It LICKED its own eye." she says in mock elated horror. She lets that sink into the air around her, then sighs with contentment. "Okay, I guess we should be working toward a why instead of simply enjoying being out of the tower."

With a few quick sword slashes she clears a spot to rest comfortably on the ground, then reaches out with her senses into the land.

commune with nature - what do people want to know? the ground or terrain, plants, minerals, bodies of water, people, general animal population, presence of woodland creatures, presence of powerful unnatural creatures, or even the general state of the natural setting. I am thinking general state of natural setting is a good one, what else, she gets three.

"I need to see this. Be right back" Lyra grins before disappearing in the weeds.

Lyra will move slowly and steadily, hopefully, close enough to simply see, not to be jumped on or offend.

Lyra listens, then nods satisfied she is not growing talons. "Okay." she agrees to pressing on, slipping on her glove again and pulling her sword out to be prepared.

"Hmmm" Lyra hums in curiosity about giant lizards and accelerated time, imagining them getting bigger and bigger until one stomps through a city with the townspeople running around its huge foot like ants.

"Is it affecting us?" she thinks about the parts of her body that would be growing constantly. Hair and nails? She holds out her hand, pulling off her glove, looking at her nails.

The fashion in various places for women is to let them grow, and even paint them, but not Lyra's. She keeps them short as can be, with the occasional tooth marks on them from nerves or boredom.

any unusual growth?

"Goodness and Gracious, I am glad the stirges at least are not following the pattern." Lyra exclaims as she cleans her blade "Can you imagine a thousand of these the size of my torso... or worse Max's!" she grins at the other warrior.

"Any thoughts why only some of the creatures are giant sized? Something they ate?"

The site was down all day yesterday, which is some of the reason for my delay, the rest is just getting home after a week of work travel. SOOOO happy to be home

Lyra pauses with held breath in hopes that Gavin's blazing ball of fire destroys all the little winged terrors, but unfortunately no.

"Oh, this is not a good idea." she says mostly to herself, just before she rushes into the buzzing mess. Her hope is that it will distract the hordes from trying to eat their cleric.

spending mythic point for sudden attack which allows her a reroll with a +2 attack and ignoring damage reduction, which I don't think allows her to ignore the swarm's half damage, but it is worth a shot

Her plan with movement would be to enter the swarm with the hopes to make it so they cannot attack her and the rest of the party at the same time. Not sure with theater of the mind if that is possible, so please put her where it makes the most sense

The twins trade out a little every day since roles are very fluid in their tiny world at the moment. Lyra's times are usually spent being annoyed as hell at wasting their words on Morgan and discussing with anyone the ability to do Anything At All.

Ultimately downtime is not Lyra's favorite thing to do. She spars with anyone willing, and otherwise, anytime that she thinks her ward, Gavin, is not in danger, she wanders the stairs in hope of finding some strange opening to a place.

Seth has no problem with the downtime since chatting, fiddling, and crafting is his loves. But even he is starting to chaff since he wants to find the secret of the tower.

Ignore my character's desires, if Witness needs another week, let's get that over with.

Ah, I misunderstood, thinking 1/week meant only that one in the week. Not one of those but 6 of others.

The twins will choose either propose an expedition to go fight the vampire again, or just commune with the tower, depending on what every one else wants to do.

No worries, hopefully, the time off is enjoyable.
