Almah has been listening intently.

Dashki has news. I was going to wait until we were finished but I now think everyone should hear.

She sends a servant to go fetch the greasy haired guide.

Dashki puts on his usual fawning display for Almah but it seems tinged with something new for him, genuine fear. For once he doesn’t even glare at Grall and does his best to pretend the harpy is invisible.

I saw them. Came in this afternoon after you lot, he gestures at the party, left. Six or seven ‘o the dogs in black leathers and carting spears plus two others. One was like nothing I’ve seen or heard about before. Looked sort of like a dog but near ten foot tall twas. Like a dog bedded a giant. Didn’t have no weapons but didn’t look like it needed any. It followed t’other, wearing a coat of many colours and what looked like a mask covering its face. Gods I hope it was a mask. They went up into the upper town with the Kulldis.

Beg pardon milady but noone ever said anything about going up against servants of the Rough Beast. Tis said that when they kill you they break your soul with their axes and you can never get to Paradise.

Grall and anyone with ranks in Knowledge(religion):

The description certainly sounds like the vestments of a priest of Rovagug, archenemy of Saranrae and her church and foe of anything goodly.

After you fought ém they were buzzing round like flies all day. A big group, hyena scum and their dogs, was moving around 'ta the south. Small groups too, in and out of the town but more out unless they came back after dark.

I've been watching today since sunnup and so far haven't seen a hair of ém. No patrols... I don't like it. They're planning something or I'm a goblin.

Garavel brings Dashki in. He immediately fawns over Almah, running one hand through his lank hair, but can't help throwing a cold look at Grall.

Yes Mistress. What I saw yesterday.

Well first of all the brutes seem to patrol the lower town every three hours or near enough, they aren't exactly tardy, lazy animals. He sneaks a look at Grall this time. Most of em seem to be in the battle market tho I saw a few walking around and there might be some in the buildings on top ó the hill. Saw some hyenas on top as well.

Bout lunchtime I saw a wagon come in from the north. It was covered but looked like humans driving it, not gnolls. They seemed friendly with the Kuldis though. They met em in the lower town and took em up the hill. Haven't seen em leave yet.

Then in the afternoon... well you probably heard all of that, we did here. About half a dozen of the dog faces took some bastard out to a square just west of the battle market and tortured him. Took their time about it. Blades, fire and well.. other stuff. This time he looks hesitantly at Almah. He died hard obviously. Told ya sometimes its better to have em kill you than take you. They looked like they was laughing as they did it. What was left at the end they threw to the hyenas.

Then it is Dashki's turn to speak.

The greasy haired hunter seems quite nervous speaking before Almah and there is little sign of his previous bravado. You can't help but notice him glaring at Grall throughout the meeting and it is clear he is very resentful of the gnoll's presence.

..Um yeah.. You basically have it right. The Kuldis are a strong tribe. Nothing like the Carrion Kings own tribe or those around Pale Mountain but still strong. They must have a strong leader to keep them together, maybe a flind or something.

Um. They never fight alone and they prefer to fight when they outnumber their opponent. Yeah. They'll fight one on one when they think they can get away with it targeting the weak foes. If things go badly they'll often gang up against the strong ones and take 'em out to try and make the other side run.

Gnolls are lazy. If we're lucky it will take em a while to check this place out. If they take anyone alive they'll either eat them straight away or maybe keep them as a slave. Sometimes the first is better I think. His eyes lose their focus for a moment.

Yeah well that's all I've got for now. I should keep a watch up top of the chapel, should see the town pretty good from there. Can't fight at all with me leg you know. He says the last defensively and looks apologetically at Almah.
