The witch still desperately needs fixing. Secrets of magic and dark archive was really lacking in further witch abilities, and it's there to would expect it. I hope treasures and elements will fix it but I doubt it.

Fingers crossed for Witch stuff. By george that class need padding out.

Thinking about it. I take this is the key part:

"That target takes persistent damage of the same type the spell dealt, of an amount equal to the highest amount of persistent damage you currently have. You can't choose a creature that's already taking persistent damage."

But I'm i correct in saying that for example I use Savour the sting heightened to level 3 after recieving 2D6 persistent fire damage.

For this situation I'd have to choose between rolling 4d4 for damage or taking the highest amount of persistent mental damage I current have, a 2D6 (or does highest mean its a flat 12?), if that is the case is it an either/or choice or do I commit to the roll i choose?

Just a bit confused!

I guess the answer is found here:

You can be simultaneously affected by multiple persistent damage conditions so long as they have different damage types. If you would gain more than one persistent damage condition with the same damage type, the higher amount of damage overrides the lower amount. The damage you take from persistent damage occurs all at once, so if something triggers when you take damage, it triggers only once; for example, if you're dying with several types of persistent damage, the persistent damage increases your dying condition only once.

Quick question about the following features;

Cathartic Mage- Emotional States

Misery
Source Secrets of Magic pg. 197
To suffer is to know you're alive; to make your enemies suffer as greatly as you have eases your suffering.

Emotional Fervor You can choose not to attempt a flat check to end persistent damage you're taking. When you cast a damaging spell, you can choose one creature that failed its save or that you hit with your spell attack roll. That target takes persistent damage of the same type the spell dealt, of an amount equal to the highest amount of persistent damage you currently have. You can't choose a creature that's already taking persistent damage. Spell: phantom pain

Focus Spell savor the sting

Phantom Pain

Illusory pain wracks the target, dealing 2d4 mental damage and 1d4 persistent mental damage. The target must attempt a Will save.

Heightened (+1) The damage increases by 2d4 and the persistent damage by 1d4.

Savor the Sting
Focus 1

You inflict pain upon the target and revel in their anguish. This deals 1d4 mental damage and 1d4 persistent mental damage; the target must attempt a Will save. As long as the target is taking persistent damage from this spell, you gain a +1 status bonus to attack rolls and skill checks against the target.

Heightened (+1) The initial damage increases by 1d4 and the persistent damage increases by 1d4.

MY QUESTION IS as the fervor spell and the focus spell can only be used whilst in emotional fervor, and the target was his or failed its save, does this means the persistent damage stacks with the persistent damage applied with the spells or is it an alternative to the persistent damage offered by the spells? I suspect the latter but is that any good as on later Levels? It just seems a bit strange they would offer this bonus and then give spells that already provide persistent damage. Some clarification would be appreciated!
