Link to L5R discussion thread
Shisumo is done with this thread for now. I think the majority of the people on here probably already know what's going on since most of us were in the first L5R game. But for the rest, there's the info.
No one can pick up this thread, since it was a huge conversion I'm sure.
Taumadu meets a nice Senpet girl and begins to hit on her...a gleam in his eye...
Or not, but I had to post something
Taumadu tires of the investigation again, wanders off and begins to talk to the others, just to strike up conversation.
"Ghul indeed..."
"What do your people call Ghuls?" he asks of the samurai.
"Not likely if he were watching Almah's tent, as he claims..."

"Did losing your country also cost you your hearing, Senpet?" the man asks acidly. "That's what I said - 'No idea.'" "A counter attack is a sign of defense..." Taumadu says, "Why are you defensive?"
Taumadu steps out from no where, "Really? No idea?"
Taumadu will skirt the edges of the camp, trying to see what he can see...
Taumadu is directing himself toward learning his new skill by watching everyone else investigate...
Taumadu spends most of his time watching others investigate, his own lack of perception thwarted his own ability to find clues...he begins to understand what it is that makes sense to look for when investigating, a hair here, an out of place footprint...
Spending 1 XP to learn Investigation
Taumadu, seeing there's no one else to heal, will begin to investigate...horribly...investigation is not one of his strong suits.
2d10=9, 2d10=13, 2d10=5
Perhaps someone could instruct him in the art of investigation he thinks, getting sidetracked, he begins to watch how others investigate, asking questions, trying to learn...
In other words does anyone have instruction and investigate so I might spend one of my XP on learning Investigate?
Taumadu transforms back to his normal form.
He will look for others that need healing.
Taumadu gloats in his own power, then grabs several full buckets, and using his height, he tries to douse the flames on the fronds of the palm, for if the fronds all die, the tree will die, and the oasis will lose a major part of its ecology.
Taumadu really puts his back into it.
"Come mercenaries, pull with the strength of Ten Thousand!"

regaining my void point that I spent earlier it seems
Would an athletics roll help if I spent a void point on it?
DM Shisumo wrote: Taumadu wrote: I'll transform into a Major Shaitan and pull the wagon away from the rest of the camp so it doesn't light the entire camp on fire... Did you mean marid? The marids are the strong ones... Assuming so, make a Raw Strength roll for me, please, using the marid's Strength of 6.
Ammon wrote: Ammon took stock of the situation once last time before deciding that his stregth would be best used to help get the other wagon away from the flames because he had no skill in healing or handling the animals. He also had no plans of putting himself in the front of the fire trying to douse it even if it would get him closer to the fascinating Almah al-Hazaad. A Raw Strength roll from you as well, if you please. Yeah, I was thinking Earth was strength...oops.
So yes Marid to get a high strength
6d10=32
I'll transform into a Major Shaitan and pull the wagon away from the rest of the camp so it doesn't light the entire camp on fire...
"Shall we fight the fire?" Taumadu states more than asks...
If the answer is yes...then...
Taumadu will attempt to transform into a creature that can assist in fighting the fire...I think I'll try to change into a huge bird, to fan sand onto the fire. I will also use a Void point to attempt the transformation. I will also use my free raise.

Updated my background to include my flaws...

Sahir aren't very powerful at the beginning are they? Certainly Heihachi would kick this guys butt, unless I had made a really good deal with a Djinn or 4....
Ignore the Skill requirement (which is Spellcraft, actually, but doesn't really matter). It looks like they were planning to make ghul creation require a Spellcraft Emphasis, but as it stands, it's the only spell that has such a requirement, and it's idiotic.
And no, they aren't. They have a few things going for them - jinn summoning is a big one, as is the fact that all spells only take 1 round to cast by default - but the power level of sahir is much lower than that of shugenja, especially as they begin. That's what I thought, and Senpet don't even start with a weapon!!! I had to buy a knife! LoL

OK great, THANK YOU!
I'll update the sheet, and select my other spell when I get home.
(Are there void spells?)
When the caravan stops for the evening, Taumadu gives worship to the Ten Thousand...away from the rest of the caravan.
Under his breathe, "Strange to be away from the city again. I wonder what this trip holds in store for me."
Shisumo, not quite understanding how many spells I get and what form they're in...do I get just a single spell at mastery level 1 in addition to the Senpet spells to begin with?
I came up with a starting background, I may add to it as we proceed, just spells to complete now.
I just need to come up with my background...although I could always have a mysterious background...I was thinking his family came to the jewel of the desert and he was born there, as they didn't go back when the Yodotai attacked.

Mine still isn't available... Not sure... I usually wind up toward the end of the pile, with a day or more between when I first start seeing posts saying "I have it!" and when mine shows up, but not this time. Which is bad, because I got waaaaaay too little sleep last night, staying up to read the adventure through about three times and figure out how I want to convert it... take your time man, we've been waiting for it anyway...don't kill yourself heh.

wha? You already got the PDF?
DM Shisumo wrote: Taumadu wrote: Just going to go with the Sahir... Cool. I'll get you your Faction Agent orders as soon as I have the adventure (which should be any day, since I got the "PF #19 is shipping soon" email Friday night).
Couple small tweaks: Defense is Agility based, not Awareness based, so it should be 5k2, and initiative is Reflexes/Insight Rank, so your init should be 4k3. You got the email about the magic? Yup I got the email on magic. I still have to get all my spells listed...
I also made those tweaks, and I still have more reading to do this week to figure my background...
Just going to go with the Sahir...
Shisumo wrote: Arcmagik wrote: I need to fix that in my other one too. Defense is way better! yay. I wonder why Burning Sands wasn't held back to release under the Revised rules... lame. Yeah, I've wondered that a bit too. I've also wondered why Revised itself wasn't held back until they'd, you know, actually edited it a bit.
(headshake) They need a new editor...LBS is horribly edited, one of the worst I've ever seen I think, from a professional company that is...
Taumadu is mostly ready, I need to buy a knife...and figure out the magic part...also, his rolled power seems a bit powerful...even for an 8 pt advantage...
And I sent you an email to OK his disadvantages...
perhaps he's a legionnaire who left when his service was up...now he's returned, perhaps he has a dark secret that made him leave...killed his sergeant or he was framed for some transgression for it.
Shisumo wrote: Taumadu wrote: Question: Are your transferring the system to Golarion, or the Adventure Path to the Burning Sands? The latter. The stuff that happens in Katapesh, for example, is likely to occur in Medinaat al-Salaam instead. The Scarab Empire will stand in for Osirion, and so on. This is an LBS game, not a Golarion one, fundamentally. That's what I figured, just wanted to make sure before I wrote a background.
Going with the Senpet Sahir. Gonna try that out...sucks they start with almost NOTHING! Oh well looting isn't a big deal in these lands, not like in the Emerald Empire...
The name menas Lion of the People! heh
Tau (lion) Madu (of the people)

Question: Are your transferring the system to Golarion, or the Adventure Path to the Burning Sands?
Arcmagik wrote: I been considering a "Spartan" like Yodotai Legionnaire considering that someone else was interested in the Duelist. not likely that I'll be playing the duellist, I'm most likely going to play a Qabal or Senpet Sahir.
So...traveling pack...what's in it? is it like the one in L5R? or is it just a pack, I can't find the list anywhere...or a description...
You said you're going with revised 3E rules, so defense 3 will use the updated rules?
Alright, I finished up my side-project, and rewarded myself with legends of the burning sands...woo, so I'm reading over stuff and such now.
Question: Fitfully Sleeping blood, is that Qabal only? And would you roll the ability; and how often is it usable?
Ummm....The Senpet charioteer, I wonder how useful that will be in Legacy of Fire...I love chariots!! I musta been a charioteer in a past life...
If someone else want to run the second Sahir, I would prolly play a duelist. Or possibly play 2 schools, a Free Sahir/Tah'haddi Duellist...if that's possible...I dunno...heh. Problem I see with that is not having enough strengths to be good at both, but I'll be looking at the book next week.
Michael D Moore wrote: Hahaha, Dr. Smith sounds awesome! It would be something similar to him most likely. I'm not entirely certain still because the idea has almost no thought, it's simply the first thing that came to mind. An evil character is not what I was going for, perhaps cruel was the wrong word to use. Were you perhaps thinking of arrogant and self assured?
You mentioned someone playing a Sahir?
I'm reading the other post for the Sahir info...tempting...though I might want to play a melee type, but I might play a Sahir, I'm so confused! heh
I think I'm leaning toward the Sahir after reading they are healers also, and that you can go to combat schools as well...
