Corsario, I just skimmed Dovan's Revenge. No hand-waving necessary. It's been about the same amount of game time: a few days including travel times. Tatiana would dispatch the two lizardfolk with the kobold gifts to continue negotiation. What troops are left in the capital to accompany Tatiana and Szymon to meet the vanguard of the barbarians? Presumably, refugees arrived into the outskirts of the capital warning our security. They wouldn't strip the capital, but take a nominal escort of a dozen or half-dozen. cheers

Tatiana takes the group shopping in their town looking for a set of masterwork mining or crafting tools.
Topper Red attempts to remember anything about kobolds, their history, or potentially any political delegations that may have treated with them.
Tatiana asks Tepti what would be appropriate? Any news from the other group(s)? Can I quietly find out what the halfling has been and is up to?
Tatiana suggests that they return home to collect gifts. She asks Tepti what would be appropriate?
We set watches among the five of us: Szymon, Tatiana, Tepti, Ti'Itza and Topper Red. Tatiana suggests Tepti take the lead with negotiation being able to speak Draconic using the process to translate with Tatiana to support . "We're looking for allies, trade, farm land, and free passage ways for roads. We need to find out what they need, besides being left alone."
"Yes, let's camp. I defer to your advice and translation of this lizard culture."
Tatiana leads the group away a sufficient distance to make camp.
Waiting for Tepti
Tatiana replies, "No, the costs of getting caught outweigh the benefits of any intelligence."
"Yes." Tatiana answers concisely.
She thought she was using words that the kobold understood. Tatiana tries again pointing to the stag lord lands, "The stag lord is dead. There are no more bandits there. "
Tatiana smiles and replies, "No bandits, kingdom. Only kingdom."
Tatiana smiles and replies, "We are a delegation of the neighboring kingdom and would like to discuss with your leader potentially alliances."
Tatiana makes herself comfortable to wait a reasonable distance away from a tunnel. She won't make camp until afternoon, because maybe they do some more topside scouting before they rest in order to operate at night.
"I will not be hiding. If we want to start negotiations well, we will let our neighbors find us if they have no obvious gate. We can keep exploring when Tepti returns. There's no hurry."
"Let's find another way. Breaking down their door is not a good way to a make neighbors. Can you leave them a note that we want to talk?" Tatiana suggests.
"Ti'Itza, the cave is full of evocation magic. At best, it would be magical darkness. At worst, it is a magical trap ready to explode. Can you dispel magic? I can but I would need 15 minutes to pray for the blessing from My Lady Fortune." Tatiana asks the lizardfolk.
Tatiana asks holy Desna to show her the magical rainbow.
"Alright, lead the way."
"Should we examine the "X" marker on the top of the hill or keep exploring?" Tatiana asks the lizardfolk. She doesn't know about the tunnel entrance.
Tatiana smiles and greets everyone, especially the children. "Well, we had been heading out for a diplomatic embassy. However, let's return to the castle and ensure that this one receives the support they need," she points to the one who said,"My house got demolished! I lost everything!" . "If anyone else has the same problem, follow us back to the castle," she turns around and leads the procession back to the castle. When they arrive, she requests the counselor come to resolve the issues. After they politely extricate themselves and take lunch, they try to leave again. This time, Tatiana will join them at the edge outside of town and fly there by highest route.
Tatiana has a horse but will leave it in Trivium, in order to travel shoulder to shoulder with the lizardfolk. Using her Sleeves of Many Garments, she will be dressed in simple traveler's colors and outfit: brown leathers and natural colors. She would agree to explore the hex northwest of Trivium beyond the river first. Then travel north going counter-clockwise through the area, ostensibly looking for their lair. Tatiana wears fullplate; however, since it does not inhibit her movement, she attempts to conceal it under her outfit. She equips a morningstar, dagger, and a light crossbow. Armed, but not to the teeth. Topper Red follows behind Tatiana occasionally singing gentle, traveling songs, ie background music.
"Yes, and your dueling has led to plenty of problems..." Tatiana gives Szymon an unenviable look. Looking at Ti'Itza, "I could have reacted to Anando's comments but not with ease. As I've declared, I never wanted the title of queen. When Anando doesn't attribute the title to me, it does not hurt me personally. The only damage is to this kingdom as precedence for barons to act against future monarchs. And since we are still forming our laws," she nods to Janus, "any reaction to Anando's comments must come from the social norms of the ruling barons. You." After a pregnant pause, she nods to Seraph and says, "what's done is done. I hope Anando's actions do not foreshadow future division of this kingdom."
Seraph Ti offered him a champion which is the same in brevoy. Remember all the aldori swordlords. Cheers Thanks Ti
"Sounds good." Tatiana summarizes. "Kiritta, do you want to join the Kobold trip, since it sounds like you can speak their language, too? We could use your magic to support our lizardfolk barons."
We could use another couple of pcs for the kobolds and lizards. It won't be a walk in the park.
"Thank you Anando for your wise counsel." Tatiana replies. "Fort Drelev sounds like an excellent strategic position. We must take that to make our kingdom rival Brevoy. On the other hand, we have several issues closer to home to address before extending our reach that far. Our new guests and now recognized barons need support to claim their barony." Tatiana nods to the two Lizardfolk. "Since they speak Draconic, we could take the opportunity to see if we can bring the neighboring kobolds within our kingdom." She pauses for a few seconds, "The other main issue that we have is the neighboring undead. They appear to be our most immediate threat to the kingdom now that the Stag Lord has been dealt with. And defeating the undead would be a good way for Venetia to become known."
I think to score points for the locals Venetia should lead the troops against the undead. It'll probably be tough.
Fort Drelev is too far at the moment. Do the Lizardfolk want to go with Tatiana, Szymon, to the kobolds and then to their swamp? Tatiana would be good for the undead, but I think we should focus on the foundation of the kingdom first. Is anyone going to punish Anando for treasonous statements? Just asking. ;D
"As everyone knows, I have had no desire to be a Majesty," Tatiana replies, "However, the kingdom needed leadership. A planned transition period sounds reasonable. Do you have a time frame in mind?"
Tatiana is not answering Anando.

About my fiefdom, I grant it to my Daughter, Alexandria, and name Venetia Medvied as her representative until she is of age." A potential answer is that choosing the king and Rupert's fiefdom are in separate sentences and thus separate ideas. The kingdom and "my fiefdom" appear to be two separate entities. Venetia was named the guardian of Rupert's fiefdom for his daughter. The fiefdom appears to be a personal barony within the kingdom, unless Rupert had holdings somewhere else. Otherwise, he would have been explicit about the daughter inheriting the whole of the kingdom. cheers
I would not trust Maria to handle diplomacy on her own. That's just asking for problems. I would really appreciate another PC leading the punishment of Anando Priority voting:

"Welcome, Anando. I'm happy you came. Please have a seat at your place. We've been discussing the kingdom going forward and were about to start discussing further affairs that would be better discussed with your input. Janus, would you please brief Anando on what has been agreed to so far?"
Tatiana lets the age restriction suggestion die on the table. "Let's leave the decision of leader to the wisdom of the council of barons," she foreshadows future votes and changes. "Yes, the division of land seems to be a good issue to discuss when Seraph returns, hopefully with Anando. Potentially, the Stag Lord's lands can be parceled out, but we really need an equatable method to settle the baronial estates that King Rupert envisioned."
"Oh, thank you Seraph."
"Well, he has already been invited once to this feast," Tatiana replies to Ni'Tir. "Perhaps another messenger could ask him if he would like to accept his position as a founding baron... and enjoy the celebration? I believe we have more affairs to decide tonight that would need his counsel."
"Thank you Janus. Thank you Topper Red, but we neglected Anando's name on the list of founding barons," Tatiana says indicating the empty, custom-sized chair. "Anando has been instrumental in founding this kingdom and voting member of this council since the beginning. Despite his current absence, we can not forget him."
Well, the 4 swords wanted to dedicate themselves to Tatiana and Szymon, because he's an Aldori swordlord and they want to be Aldori swordlords. Therefore, I was going to use the Leadership organization to manage them. However, if/when Tatiana is no longer queen, then the organization would follow her not the new monarch. complications
Plus, the whole point was to address the barons IN THE ROOM! So we can move on to make decisions. Janus already mentioned that there were others not on the list who didn't return. Just like setting the bounty on du Caat's head and a memorial for Rupert, we would need to address those other barons as well as what to do with the Stag Lord's lands, etc. Corsario, I don't know what your point of trying to create a something for the 4 Swords to be upset about. I'm getting very aggravated, because we can't even take one step forward. And as a matter of fact, Tatiana would have put Anando on the list of barons with the cohorts as a voting member of the kingdom as the Treasurer.
