hp 10/10 siloquay 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
hp 11/11 lomar 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

i know you guys can do it

Male Human

amazing! lomar finally missed a shot!

Siloquay fires her cross bow at the approaching goblins. the bolt flies true and is embedded in a goblin shoulder. he grimaces in pain but somehow manages to keep his feet.

Lomar lets a blast of fire off at the hobgoblin leader, but the aim of the blast is off. the hobgoblins smiles at lomar and speaks in the common tongue I will Gut you human scum!

firesnap also fires an errant shot at the enemy before there advance begins.

Male Human

i was a little upset that only the few were posting. but this will do, if you guys would like to continue

Male Human

Noran the only goblin visible that is not asleep, he takes a swing but the goblin avoids the attack.

firesnapp fires (hehe) a flaming shot, but it harmlessly sail over the goblins head.

Now goblins are starting to appear out of the mist. you can finally see the larger leader of the goblins. it is a hobgoblin. the remainder of his troops consists of 14 goblins counting the 3 sleepers.

he speaks in a voice loud enough to be heard by everyone

speak goblin:
eliminate these fools

siloquay moves into position near noran, and fires her crossbow into the seared goblin 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 ; 1d8 ⇒ 4

Male Human

ac16 hp6 goblin (sleep)
ac16 hp2 goblin (sleep)
ac16 hp6 goblin (sleep)

ac16 hp6 goblin

these are the four currently within view. ive got a -2 on ranged attacks because of the mist. if not everyone posts we will not fight all the goblins. too many for the few that are posting. good luck

Male Human

then another voice, a commanding voice yells also

speak goblin:
you heard him you IDIOTS! destroy the intruders NOW! charge!

all the sudden the gobs start screaming and you can hear there footsteps start almost as one. the mist is still hampering visibility in the compound out to about 35 or 40 ft.

Male Human

defender still win on a tie roll in pathfinder? referring to gobby number one up there.

3 of the goblins, succumbing to the spell tumble to the hard ground in a heap. all snoring contentidly.

after the scream the compound is eerily silent.

the only noise is the last goblin, who hurridly charges the party yelling in his vile tongue.

speak goblin:
i have the intruders! I will take there heads before any of you get a chance! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAH!!!!!

Male Human

Firesnap takes the initiative and firebolts the goblin in the center of the group approaching right in the chest. the bolt badly chars the flimsy leather armor, and the skinny goblins flimsy chest underneath. the creature screams incoherently in pain.

noran fire a crossbolt bolt at the same creature but the shot is a little wide.

lomar crouches down low behind a very small tuft of reeds. scanning the battlefield for signs of a leader he sees none.

so instead he casts a sleep spell on the approaching goblins and another one a few feet back.

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

Male Human

goddamn muthas are blind as a bat.

thru the fog they cant see the party and are headed your way, clueless of your presence. they are about 15ft away and closing.

Male Human

the first of the goblin troops finally come tromping through the entrance to the gate. a loud voice from the rear shouts:

speak goblin:
"spread out and find these supposed heroes and destroy them!"

the goblins immediately start dispersing in random direction.

perception checks for 3 goblins immediately headed your way

1d20 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 4 = -3
1d20 - 4 ⇒ (5) - 4 = 1
1d20 - 4 ⇒ (4) - 4 = 0

Male Human

the party followed siloquay back to the entrance of the keep, when she arrived and informed them of the goblins untimely arrival.

the party stopped about 15 ft short of the old gates (square Q26 on the map). the party is on the east side of the entrance. the gobs are loudly marching towards the complex. they sound very very close at this point.

and shop away my brother. i wish i was on your end with a 1k limit to start. my tarloc was hooked up, until i changed him to dm status

Male Human

but the acid lightning fireball sounded cool. metamagic feat

Male Human

on the repeating crossbow rules. it looks like it lets you fire shots and reload as a free action.

the rules on that get muddy (not the barbarian). looks like you would need wf crossbow, point blank shot, and rapid reload to accomplish what the crossbow does. and the feat rapid reload, gave a -2 to strike on both attacks.

I think the repeater functions as all those feats and still grants the -2 to strike. so ill give you 2 attacks at a -2 to hit.

as for the gold piece and equipment question. wareagle had given a 1000gp limit on his character rules.

oh and one other thing. the goblins arent visible yet. they havent made the entrance to the courtyard, or the gate even. i was waiting to see of anyone else was going to take ambush positions

Male Human

noran makes a move towards the wall of the keep next to the open entryway. with his cross bow at the ready he waits for the enemies approach.

you can hear the creatures tromping through the reeds and brush. some conversation from the monsters can be heard until a louder voice barks a command and they fall silent and continue to march.

from the sound of the mob, they may be 10-15ft from the entrance now.

Male Human

the show must go on.

Male Human

the gates are down. on the parties first visit in, they somehow brought the doors down. i remember reading that, because i was not the dm at that time. oh yeah, forgot about the armor check penalty. i just rerolled what he had tried to roll. we get it in there next time

Male Human

silaquay edges up to the side of the exit, carefully peaking around the corner, she see's that the goblins have already started marching towards the gates.

right now they are approx 65 ft away and closing. they are marching in two "column" formations.

close silaquay, for the last "dice" roller do it like this [/dice]

Male Human

1d20 ⇒ 18 hide check for silaquay

1d20 ⇒ 15 spot check for.....someone

Male Human

adding norin in near the front lines of the party and siloquay near the spell casters in the middle, the party marches quietly back to the entrance to the keep.

with the mist partially cleared up you can see the passage where the mighty gates once stood.

you also are hearing loud voices coming from outside of the keep.

speak goblin:
from a few different smaller voices coming from over the keep wall:"over here, over here"......"thats not them, those bushes"......."klunk find bones". Then, in a much louder voice using the same tongue "form up you dummies!!! theyre not going to be outside the keep. get ready to march on the gate over there"

the lead members of the party are about 15 ft away from the front gate at this point. nothing is visible currently outside or inside of the compound.

this link should be to wareagles map of the keep

Male Human

firesnap:
judging by the smell, color, and vial that the potion is stored in. you determine that these are potions of cure light wounds

Male Human

the zombie that the summoned dog took down, upon searching, is found to be holding two shiny silver vials in one of its hands.

dc16 spellcraft check:
you remove the stopper from one of the vials. a sweet scent fills your senses. you immediately recognize this as a potion of healing of some sort

the other creatures when searched are just skin and bones. and one of the skeletons is still aflame.

Male Human

lomar opens up the satchel slowly. inside are a few pages of parchment and vellum. as lomar carefully tries to remove them, all but two crumble to dust, a yellowish piece of vellum with weather worn writing, and a faded parchment with the words; lux, shestnik, samosud. printed in bold letters.

the vellum:

"the hordes came again last night. the monsters. their coordination was frightening. under the cover of darkness, goblins and kobolds pushed bundles of sticks to within bow range.

these bundles formed a wall that protected the small ones from our archers. once the wall was erected , orc archers took up safe positions there and began pelting the castle walls with arrows.

we tried shooting flaming arrows at the wall of sticks to set it afire. monsters are normally afraid of fire. but these monsters showed no fear. they simply scooped dirt on the flames to put them out.

before all the fires were out they had resumed firing at us. surely, some unnatural force must have been at work to weld these quarrelsome beasts into an organized fighting force.

i do not know if we can combat the monsters onslaught much longer. we lost twelve more men last night. the monsters seem to have an ulimited number of reinforcements.

the last priest of tyr, ferran martinez, says he has a way to protect the keep, but he says that its so terrible that it may only be used as a last resort.

unless we receive reinforcements, ferran martinez is are only hope."

Male Human

yeah, then go like 1d8 +1d6 at 3rd. then unleash the fury at 5th with full power blasts. whoo hoo, getting excited over here.

and man those comics are FUNNY! i was crying through a few of them, laughing so hard.

im only on number 156 i think. there are 800+. you will free phlan before i am done

game on!

Tarloc

Male Human

Lomar does a quick search of the area where the creatures were searching.

he finds a weater worn satchel lying in the dust near the south wall. It looks like the type that a messenger would wear over the shoulder with a long strap.

Male Human

and its lomars fault i didnt post yesterday.

four words; order of the stick. wow

thank you lomar (the great)

Male Human

muddy advances on the lone skeleton with his heavy flail ready. he takes a swing at the monster but the creature skips away from the blow.

but firesnap takes a better aimed shot with his conjoured fire bolt. and blasts the skeleton to the reed-crusted ground. where the flames continue to burn from the attack.

the party finishes the combat easily. the mist has visibly cleared up slightly, visibility extends about 45 ft at this point.

the party stands near the SE corner of the keep. there is a strong looking wooden door directly east of the party members in the rear (mel and syl).

and on the south wall of the keep, there is another door visible about 25 ft west of where the east and south walls meet (25 ft west of the south-east corner).

this door appears to be of lighter color than the other doors you have encountered. it has a light brown or gold shade to it.

Male Human

i found it lomar. addng the invocation does make it a little strong.

if you agree, maybe go d6 damage instead of d8? be a small scaling down of the power.

the way the dice are treating you though, i dont think it will matter much

Male Human

man these monsters in pathfinder rules are a lot different than 3.5. some creatures are more powerful, some are less powerful.

ill have to check monster stats before i match up a combat.

Male Human

lomar, post where i can find a description of the class, and i will look it over. to make sure its on the up and up.

personally i dont mind a mage that can really whoop it on at lower levels. usually i have to baby the magic user until he gets powerful enough to survive on his own. hated doing it, but it is usually the only way they survived(my brothers 1st level mage was unconscious by the time the first 5 battles had ended before i stopped attacking him after he would cast)

Male Human

Lomar unleashes another blast of fire upon one of the witless undead creatures incinerating it to ash.

the lone remaining skeleton, continues its advance.

1 skeleton left 1 hp.

snap, syl, or muddy would be next up if they are still with us. or norin, surprised by the unexpected combat taking place during his arrival, could strike a blow for the cause

Male Human

with some posts coming slowly, any player may go ahead and post attacks. the skeletons are about 20 ft ahead. 2 left. 1 hp each

Male Human

anyone who is able should make an attack. the skellies initiative was really really low. so if anyone is able to, take them out.

and lomar your init was 18 I believe so if you want to attack, have at it.

Male Human

oropher rushes to take a position between lomar and the few remaining skeletons. he steps up and unleashes a deadly blow at the nearest skeleton, severing the top half of the beast and leaving it in a pile of old bones.

that leaves two left 1hp each

and as oro says "Thankfully the wizard was living up to his somewhat inflated self-image" lomar is letting his magic do the talking it seems

Male Human

no prob. i love this particular module. if you do return, i would like to have a character jump in. but this will do for now.

i have ran it from the good perspective, and bad. with a few family and friends.

Male Human

summoned dog init 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 whoops

Male Human

the undead monster takes a wild two handed swing with its blade. the attack misses the mark wide.

pretty much everyone will get an attack on these three before the last two even have a chance to react. with such pathetic init rolls

Male Human

The lead skeleton makes a deadly rush towards lomar with a scimitar held high. 1d20 ⇒ 3; 1d6 ⇒ 6

Male Human

initiative as follows

muddy 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
oropher 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
firesnap 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
sylavel 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
lomar 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
mel 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

skeleton 1 1hp 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
skeleton 2 1hp 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
skeleton 3 1hp 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Male Human

melismar strips off his over coat, pulls out his new mace, and starts crooning a blaze igniting ballad as he readies himself and the party for combat.

lomar pulls up short, and with his adrenaline jumping from the bards ballad unleashes a blast of eldritch fire from his fingertips. the zombie nearest him is burnt to ashes from the attack.

Male Human

upon seeing the undead creatures firesnap channels the power of brigh, the light in the area momentarily brightens and they shrink back from the power of the symbol.

skeleton 1 hp
skeleton 1 hp
skeleton 1 hp
zombie 9hp
zombie 9hp

this next part happens to an enemy of sylavels choosing

growling in a rage the summoned fiend jumps up and grabs an enemy by the throat and starts thrashing back and forth until the head of the creature comes completely off its body. the yellow light in its sockets extinguished for good.

the hound howls in a fury and readies for its next attack

Male Human

the scream came from their direction for sure

as you move closer you can tell that there are 2 zombies and 3 skeletons in the group ahead. they still seem to be clueless to the parties presence.

as you approach approx 15 ft away, they all look up at once. and they stand there ominously staring at the party.

Male Human

i would guess the party is advancing pretty much in the marching order you had earlier. with the exception of lomar in the lead for now.

the rattling noise gets louder and lomar is able to make out shapes in the distant mist. you are also right next to the door that was visible, which means you have covered about 35-40ft

a group of 5 humanoids are milling around in an area about 30 ft ahead at the edge of your vision. they are methodically walking with their heads pointed down as if looking for something on the ground.

the rattling noise is coming from that area also.

they dont seem to see you yet. perception check -1-

Male Human

The door south of your position is definately the closest possibility. from your position now, it looks similar in size to the door that WAS in front of you.

as the party makes its way slowly southward following the line of the wall. a scream erupts from in front of you somewhere, along with that strange rattling sound heard earlier.

a low moaning follows the scream from apparently everywhere.

Male Human

plan of action from here?
there was the door just visible to the south of the room you are in now. and before the mist developed there were two other doors visible in the courtyard.
every thing else is concealed behind the building in the center. the one the party had already cleared on there last visit in.

Male Human

and the knowledge checks on the parchment didnt pan out for lomar either.

Male Human

i used the perception check for both instances. the check for enemies on the way in and the quick search of the room.

the two fighters rummage through the boxes with their weapons, but turn up nothing. they overturn the large burlap bags but also find nothing of value

looks like an empty old storage room.

theres the RPing we were looking for. and glad you could make it mel

Male Human

As the light spell moves through the door, muddy and oro are fast behind with weapons at the ready.

they peer inside and glimpse what remains of a large storage area. there are a few rotted sacks of old grain at the far side of the room, and a few smashed and molding boxes against the wall to the right.

the floor is also layered in dust. it doesnt appear that anyone has been in this room for many years.

as for the parchment. see post 220 also

Male Human

The weatherbeaten door gives way under the light force and falls into the room. it hits the ground in a puff of dust.

im assuming party stopped 5 to 10ft away from the entrance before the spell was cast

there is no lighting inside the structure so nothing is currently visible from where you are at now. standard doorway about 5ft wide.
