No that is fine, it is just not how we learned that 2e is run. It will just need a realignment of expectation on our (the players') part. EDIT: As Grol mentioned, some of this comes from us having learned from playing in the PbP setting and proposing rolls in case they may be relevant to keep the game moving, rather than asking, waiting for a response, then rolling and waiting for a result.

I think much of the confusion comes from us trying to offer things that we would like to try, and just leaving it up to you on whether to allow us or not. You would rather let us know what we can do, and let us take a more passive approach to playing versus a more active style. Which is fine, but may not be quite everyone's cup of tea. We just want to help you along! Anyway, we already know you are a brand new GM, so we will help you find your way. See what fits, you know? We will sit back and let you figure that out. Just tell us what you'd like us to do and when it is time to do it.

I understand that, but it says: In my hands I judge the value of all wealth, raising up whichever is greater. One of these coins is a deception. Find it using only two judgements and receive my blessing. This indicates to me that we place them in the hands twice, then we make a choice. Am I wrong? Is there any place other than the hands and the altar to place our 'choice'?

I have an idea, but I will propose it to the group first. Tama scrunches his face up in thought, What if we... put four coins in one hand and five coins in the other? No, no, that would leave us guessing... What if we instead put 3 coins in each hand, leaving 3 out? Then if both hands raise then we know that the false coin is left out. If only one hand raises then we know that the other hand has the false coin. Then we repeat the process with the remaining coins. One in each hand and one left out? The young Dromaar looks at his companions, Does that make sense?

It is a spell (that I encountered in my home game just a week ago) that makes you sickened 1 and you cannot reduce lower than that unless you do something specific to break the curse.
