LOADS: (Light 38 or less)(Medium 39-76)(Heavy 77-115) Class Abilities:
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Ninja are proficient with all simple weapons, plus the kama, katana, kusarigama, nunchaku, sai, shortbow, short sword, shuriken, siangham, and wakizashi. They are proficient with light armor but not with shields.
Poison Use: At 1st level, a ninja is trained in the use of poison and cannot accidentally poison herself when applying poison to a weapon. Sneak Attack:(+1d6) If a ninja can catch an opponent when he is unable to defend himself effectively from her attack, she can strike a vital spot for extra damage. The ninja's attacks deal extra damage anytime her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the ninja flanks her target. This extra damage is 1d6 at 1st level, and increases by 1d6 every two ninja levels thereafter. Bonus damage from sneak attacks is precision damage. Should the ninja score a critical hit with a sneak attack, this precision damage is not multiplied. Ranged attacks count as sneak attacks only if the target is within 30 feet. With a weapon that deals nonlethal damage (such as a sap, whip, or unarmed strike), a ninja can make a sneak attack that deals nonlethal damage instead of lethal damage. She cannot use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage in a sneak attack, even with the usual –4 penalty. The ninja must be able to see the target well enough to pick out a vital spot, and must be able to reach this spot. A ninja cannot sneak attack while striking a creature that has concealment. Sylph Racial Modifiers and Traits:
+2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, –2 Constitution: Sylphs are quick and insightful, but slight and delicate.
Native Outsider: Sylphs are outsiders with the native subtype. Darkvision: Sylphs can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Breeze-Kissed: Breezes seem to follow most sylphs wherever they go, but some sylphs are better able to control these winds than others. A sylph with this racial trait surrounds herself with swirling winds, gaining a +2 racial bonus to AC against nonmagical ranged attacks. The sylph can calm or renew these winds as a swift action. Once per day, the sylph can channel this wind into a single gust, making a bull rush or trip combat maneuver attempt against one creature within 30 feet. Whether or not the attempt succeeds, the winds are exhausted and no longer provide a bonus to the sylph's AC for 24 hours. This is a supernatural ability. This racial trait replaces air affinity. Like the Wind: A sylph with this racial trait gains a +5 foot bonus to her base speed. This racial trait replaces energy resistance. Whispering Wind: Some sylphs are especially thin and wispy, as though they were made more of air than flesh. Sylphs with this racial trait gain a +4 racial bonus on Stealth checks. This racial trait replaces the sylph's spell-like ability racial trait. Skills:

A condition that makes you lose your Dex bonus to AC also makes you lose the benefits of this feat.
How did a xijan get here anyway?:
Taliv remembers very little before coming to the monastery. He was reared in an important and wealthy family somewhere along the Inner Sea. His father held some sort of official position in the government, and both his father and mother would often leave for periods of time to take care of problems for other people. There were servants and Taliv was treated with much respect.
Something changed and his family was required to lead an expedition of well armed traders across a great distance to Tian Xia. As this trip was to take several years, this time they would take their very young son, Taliv. The trip took a great amount of time, and many lands and cultures ere passed through. Most of the time, Taliv was kept inside a wagon when new people were encountered. But he does remember seeing men riding beasts as large as wagons during one point of the trip. His parents and, in fact, the whole caravan became much more restrictive upon entering the lands of the east. A few days after entering Minkai, the caravan was attacked by soldiers. The traders seemed strangely prepared for such a battle and fought with great fervor and many diabolical magics. In fact, many were of the Asmodian clergy. Taliv's father appeared to be one as well. Despite the preparedness, soon during the bloody battle it became clear the soldiers of the east would win. Taliv's mother extracted her son from the melee but was wounded in the process. Eventually, she came upon the Twilight Monastery. At first, the monks refused to admit her and her son within the walls despite even offers of gold. They knew of the devil's agents infiltrating their homeland. But, with the nod of acceptance from a masked man, she was allowed to leave her son in the care of the monks. Promising to return with his father within five days, she gave Taliv a last embrace. It has been many years and neither she nor his father have returned. Growing up a fool at best:
I quickly learned, life had changed. No longer was I special. I was something unwanted. I did not know the language. I did not know the rules. I looked different and acted different. I was something to be mocked and ridiculed.
My first and most important lesson was to avoid getting cuffed. Everyone hit me. If I learned to slow.. WACK! If I did not bow low enough…WACK! If I appeared lax in my duties…WACK! If someone just did not like how I looked..well, you understand now. I do not like to be cuffed. Quickly, I learned the best ways of not being cuffed. Learn the language. My initial, and still, sleeping place was in an alcove off the kitchen where firewood is kept. My duties early on were to keep this area filled with wood for the cooking fires. The assistant cook, Master Urashida, began teaching me. Of course, each word and phrase I was to learn was accompanied by the boxing of my ears or head. Always more painful if it needed to be repeated. As time progressed, I began to help a bit more in the kitchen. But, still, even today, I must wash my hands constantly to keep the xijan taint from the proper people’s food. Learn my duties. Besides keeping firewood in the kitchen, I had other duties. Luckily, the animals did not like me so gathering milk and eggs or cleaning coops or stalls was not among those duties. But I did have to help in the gathering and cleaning of kalamanthis. Master Shinmei would take over the cuffing during these times. I also would travel with him when he took the herb to different markets. During these trips, Master Shinmei would seem to find reasons to cuff me. After every meeting, I was required to describe what happened and who said what, or talk about how many people would walk by and what they were wearing. He seemed to particularly like cuffing me for missing any detail. He also taught me to hunt and about stalking , tracking, using snares and different weapons. Many the time, I would think I was alone and could finally relax and take my time, only to hear him behind me saying, “Fool!”, Followed by a swift cuff to my ears. I can hide better than most, but I suspect he could hide in middle of a brightly lit empty room. Learn to lie and manipulate . This was a good lesson. In many ways, I learned this from everyone. Never say, “I do not understand.” That is always a good reason to have one’s ears boxed if you are xijan. Instead, convince someone else to ask. Or ask clarifications until you can finally figure it out on your own. If you are caught doing something wrong, give a somewhat good reason why. Even if it is a bad lie, it will save you the ear boxing then, and maybe later they will forget about the incident. Do not be seen. No one likes a xijan. Especially, the son of a devil worshipper. So, the best way to avoid conflict is not to be seen. Master Shinmei taught me many ways to avoid being seen. But, he also taught me how to hide my xinjan nature if I had to be seen. People want to see things the way they want. If I am wearing peasant garb and have dirt rubbed on my face and arms and conduct myself in a meek manor, I become dismissed as a peasant. It helps to learn different mannerisms and ways of speaking. I once ~borrowed~ a female’s gown, and walked about the village as a girl. Ha! No one even realized, until Master Shinmei found me and cuffed me the entire way back to the kitchen. I also had to clean the clothes and replace them on the line. No one is your friend. Just tell people what they want to hear, so they do not cuff you. Everyone is looking for a reason to hurt you. Well, if you are xijan. I wish it was not that way. But it is. And to expect otherwise, well, I would be a fool then. Equipment and gold:

Taliv has problems trusting anyone. He often shows respect, even if he does not feel it. And resents the easy way many others can make friends. He believes interactions are effort, not realizing how easily it comes to him. Due to Master Shinmei’s teaching style, Taliv treats every moment as a potential lesson of some sort. He wants to be truly friends with others, but his entire life in Minkai has taught him to be deceitful. With the death and disappearance of his parents, Taliv knows the monastery is his only family now. He will protect it, as it is all he has left. He may never be happy, but there is always the potential for worse. His dream is of acceptance. Description:
Taliv appears as a delicate male of perhaps fourteen to sixteen years. His skin is pale, with light translucent blue highlights swirling just beneath the surface. His eyes are a deep blue with grey flecks, while his hair is white and hangs to his shoulders, often unkempt yet untangled. His build is thin, almost to the point of emaciation. His mannerisms are meek, and depending on how he presents himself, easily mistaken for a female.
Often he wears simple traveling clothes, keeping his hair up and a straw hat covering it. His daggers are concealed about his person. If hunting, or expecting trouble, he wears a lamellar cuirass, carries a pack, along with bow and quiver. His colors are often greys and light blues. When agitated, slight gusts pick at his clothing. |
