![]() Thanks Caderyn thats the kind of discussion I was looking for. I had wondered about the weight myself. I wonder if my fellow players got in the boat if it would be enough. I had missed that the boat was only 8 feet wide. I had read someone used a force field to cover the pit. But I cannot come up with anything like that for low level characters. Perhaps 2 boats and have a cleric turn himself to stone and sit in the boat. The problem with that is we only have 1 cleric. Hmm this requires more thought. Hmm perhaps some type of razor wire across the top. ![]()
![]() I am starting to become disheartened. I want to do stuff that makes the rest of the players go wow I cant believe he just did that that was AWESOME. Yet more and more when I do that I am not allowed to do it. So this game is just I roll dice you roll dice and we randomly decide what happens. I thought this was supposed to be a game to use imagination. ![]()
![]() I am gaming in a group with characters level 4 and below. I am playing a Summoner and recently got the spell Create Pit. I love it. However I have been thinking what this pit needs is a lid. A rather heavy lid. One in which when the pit goes away it would squish what ever was inside. That led me on a search. Most things I could cap the pit with were either too expensive or could not be cast by our band of rather new characters until I found what I think just might suffice. First I get 50 foot of rope. Then I would need a wooden stake. I would stake the rope on the opposite side of the pit. Here is the kicker in the middle of the rope I would tie the wonderful cube that is the folding boat. While holding the rope I would say the word of command twice. The reason for the rope is so the 10 food boat does not fall in the pit before it grows to be a 24 foot boat on the second command word. TA DA instant cover for the pit. Pit ends and squish monster goo. What do you think? ![]()
![]() But don't waste your time trying to argue for something that you know you'd cry foul over if it happened the other way around. Seriously? I am a new player to role playing. My son is nine. I am trying to understand the rules as best I can. So when grease is cast I kind of expect it to act according to theme. If I don't understand the rules thats why I come to the forum. Its not llike the rule book is written clear and concise on almost anything. But sir don't ever EVER question my integrity. I have been treated nice by everyone in Pathfinder Society but you seem to besmudge my person. If my sons character dies he dies. We as I understand it can resurrect him. But try not to insult me or my son. That is something I will not abide. ![]()
![]() If thats the case how can a priest who is slipping and slideing around in grease not able to even stand be able to have the wherewithall to FOCUS on something besides the fact he is screwed? First you would have to assume he fell on his back and not on his face. If he fell on his face he would need to slide on to his back. Then because he became covered with grease on his front would then be covered in grease and need to try to retrieve his item without dropping it Sounds to me like he would need to make some sort of DC to do all that. I mean think about it his hands would try to break his fall. Therefore his hands would be grease covered. There was no DC check to see if he could hold his unholy symbol that I am aware of. ![]()
![]() I was only kidding about the Summoner. He would perfer not to lose his Dwarf. I am hoping we can resurect him. He did however look at the rule book on the way home and said if he ever did make a new character it would be a cleric. Makes sense he would say that seeing as that was what killed him. lol. I think we all agreed to use earned money from the session to resurrect him. ![]()
![]() Seems to me you would need a scale model of the dais in order to accurately determine line of sight. Thats the way line of sight would be done in most miniture battle games. If you drew a chalk line from the priests square to the square the dwarf was on it would certainly need to pass through the floor of the dais to touch it. In my opinion anyway. ![]()
![]() From PRD: Channeling energy causes a burst that affects all creatures of one type (either undead or living) in a 30-foot radius centered on the cleric. also from PRD: A burst spell affects whatever it catches in its area, including creatures that you can't see. It can't affect creatures with total cover from its point of origin (in other words, its effects don't extend around corners). So: The Cleric was prone on a platform above the prone PC on the floor below whose square was next to the side wall of said platform. Therefore: Would his spell need to go around the corner of the platform in order to hit the PC? Corners can be horizonal as well as vertical, correct? I would say the unconcious dwarf would indeed have cover. I am new and biased however as I am the nine year old players father. (Not saying the GM is being evil by killing the little boys character , well only to tease said GM). ![]()
![]() Thorynn wrote: Thats too bad. I know a lot of guys were looking forward to it. Any public spaces available? Rooms at the library, that sort of thing? See your problem is you are trying to work all this out in Asheville. You need to just cross the mountain and game in Johnson City. We have a group in Kingsport so Johnson City would be great. Or even better town hall in Jonesborough or the Library in Jonesborough. Asheville ... Sheesh. ![]()
![]() I had Improved Natural Armor on my 2nd Level Eidolon. I am using Hero Lab. It says that I can't have that until level 5. I read an FAQ that contridicts that but thats ok. Now that I have reached level 3 I have decided to drop it. I would like to add Reach (bite) and Reach (claws). Is this ok? Second if I do this can they attack the adjacent space and the 10' foot space or only the 10' foot square? ![]()
![]() Thank you everyone. You guys are awesome. Our DM is cool but I wanted to make sure I understood the rule. I sent him a link to this thread. I did not want him to think I was talking out of school or anything. I have two kids (10 year old boy and 14 year old girl) as well as myself in this Pathfinder Society game and we are having fun. Last session my "dragon" eidolon ate a panthers face off. I felt like I hogged the encounter a little so the next encounter I left the Eidolon put away and just called an Eagle. We had bad guys running away and the eagle caught up to them. We did not do a DC check to see if the eagle could fly past the said baddie to attack. So we will fix that next time I summons something. It is good to know I don't need DC checks with the Eidolon though. If our DM is reading this. You are doing a great job. Terry Sr. ![]()
![]() I am a very new player. I play a Summoner. As such it seems folks think I can be overpowered. So as long as the GM did not ask me to gimp my character sheet I would be fine with just not attacking full bore and role playing something to do it. The GM has not said anything to me yet. However I did take it upon myself last session to not call my Eidolon before the last encounter. I instead summoned monster and called an eagle. However the eagle proved really useful in catching an NPC that was running away. Earlier with the Eidolon out I basically killed a mob all by myself. I did not want to make the other players feel left out so I backed off some last encounter. I felt good about that. I have my character like I like and still played nice. I say that not to brag. I say that to suggest if you nicely let your player know he is real powerful and to be careful that the other players get to play too I bet everyone will come out ahead. GM, Players, Summoner all. ![]()
![]() Preface: I am totally new to Pathfinder and PFS and pretty much role playing so take my opinion with a grain of salt. To me when I here the term role playing it conjures the thought of using your imagination. I picked Summoner ( I have just built him and will use him for the first time tomorrow) because his stuff is very imagination driven. The Eidolon gives you the opportunity to sculpt if you will your own creature! That said I have chosen a dragon like form for mine as well. This begs the question what does a dragon look like? In fantasy dragons have taken lots of shapes and body types. Some are definate four legged creatures while others have large back legs and almost arm like front appendages. The later tending to walk on its hind legs the former on all fours. So in my humble opinion you could have a dragon with either quadruped or biped. However whose to say your dragon isn't almost centaur like with 4 legs and 2 arms? Of course in game terms you would need to purchase these as evolutions. Dragons are a cool critter with a world of different shapes and sizes. Some can talk some can't. Some have magic some don't. Some breath fire some don't. Lots of room for imagination. I love reading books with dragons. Ted Dekkers books are awesome. So when I saw the Summoner classes Eidolon and figured out I could sculpt a dragon I knew I found the class for me.
