Sylvar inspects the hopeknife. "I wonder if Rodrik set this here or if someone stole it from him and put it here. I'm feeling a little weak from the spider bite but I think I can continue. Let's finish searching this level," he says as he begins moving to the other end of the room. Seeing the door at the end of the hallway they first entered, he searches it for traps before opening it.

"Thank you all for your help. Seems I was too focused on what was "in" the room and didn't think to look up. That bite really hurt. Give me a moment to see if I can regain my strength," Syvar says as he leans against the wall.

"Ahhh," Sylvar yells when the spider drops on him, it's fangs digging into his shoulder. Almost instantly, he feels a warming sensation spreading from the wound.

I'd agree as Alistaire seems more melee focused compared to Kilien being ranged focus.

We chose not to go down the trapdoor. I went through the single door in the SE of the room with the haunts. The room had a chest and stairs down to the cellar. We're staying on the ground floor and going through the single door in the N wall of the room with the stairs.

Sylvar smiles when he is able to bypass the magical lock. "Hmm, I wonder who these belong to. Can anyone use these?" he asks. If no one claims any items, he places them in his pack. "If anything, we can sell them. Let's go through this other door to finish exploring this level," he says while waiting for the rest of the group.

Once they are ready to proceed, he walks through the door and looks around more closely than when he peeked out earlier.

"Yes, so we need to keep alert as someone or something else may still be here. Watch the stairs while I check this door and then the lockbox," he says as he checks the other door for traps before opening it to see what is on the other side.

Unable to resist, Sylvar checks the trapdoor for traps before opening it. "Can anyone else help searching so we don't run out of time. I really don't want to still be in here when those haunts come back. I hope I'm not doing anything to trigger them," he says.

"Yes, of course. Let me check these double doors for traps before we open them. If someone could watch down the hall to make sure nothing comes from that direction while I do this," Sylvar says as he approaches the doors.

Sylvar looks at the others in the group, hoping someone from town would speak. Seeing no one step up, he clears his throat to get Omast's attention.

"Hello there, can we speak with you for a moment? We are investigating Rodrick's murder and have a few questions," he says and waits for the man to lower himself from the wall.

"We found a similar substance as the graffiti in a room at the inn. Do you have any idea what the symbols mean or who put them there?"

"Did Rodrick ever talk to you about anything he was investigating?"

Sylvar looks a little disappointed he wasn't able to get more useful information from the half-orc. "Ok. Thank you for your help," he says before turning to the others. "It does seem we need to go to the plague house. Maybe we can discover more there. We also should talk to Omast to see what he knows. Let's talk to him first," he suggests.

Sylvar looks through the journal while Lialda talks to the seer. His brow furrows at the potential implications of Rodrick's statements. He offers the journal to anyone else in the group, encouraging someone to read it. He then pauses for a moment to collect his thoughts before addressing Katrezra again. He does his best to keep his voice neutral and not sound accusatory but watches how the half-orc responds to see if he's hiding something.

I would pause between questions to get a response but to keep things moving will list a few.

"Have you read the journal?"
"Why did you suggest Rodrick give you the journal?"
"Why did you want him to end his investigation?"

"A troll? Could it be in charge of the half-orcs that seemed to have killed Rodrick," Sylvar wonders out loud. "Can you tell us any more about your nightmares? Are the symbols in your dreams the same as those found in town?" he asks as he begins to look through the journal for any clues.

"Good morning. We were speaking with Tyari Varvatos at the Sanctuary. She indicated that Rodrik had been speaking to Katrezra over the last few weeks. We would like to speak with him to see what he knows about Rodrik's investigation but it seems he is gone, possibly in hiding. It's important that we keep him safe. Sylvar makes sure to reset his wrist sheath with a normal dagger as the group trys to settle in for the remainder of the night. He felt somewhat confident that they would be safe to rest but was unsure what tomorrow would bring.

The next day, he seems more on edge than he had been before. Getting ambushed twice in one day will do that to a person. He looks at everyone he doesn't know suspiciously, wondering when the next attack will come.

"Yes, let's move on. We need to find him before the half-orcs do," he adds.

Sylvar jumps over the bed to look out the window for the escaped assassin. Not being able to see enough in the dark of night, he turns back to look at their prisoner. Seeing his dagger on the floor, he bends down to pick it up, wiping some blood from it.

The sound of battle clearing his head, Sylvar get out of bed as quickly as he can. With a flick of his wrist, he has a dagger in his hand which he throws at the closest assassin.

Sylvar quietly snuck around the perimeter of the room, careful to stay in the shadows. Reaching the tapestry, he glanced around the room, making sure he hasn't been spotted. Pulling the tapestry aside, he scans the wall for the telltale signs of a secret door. A smile crosses his face as he finds it and he quickly disables the trap. "They will have to do better than that to stop me," he thinks to himself as he opens the door.

There before him on a pedestal in the center of the room was the object of his quest. The blue diamond had to be as big as his fist. It was so close. He approached the pedestal reaching out for the gem.

"Assassins," he hears someone yell in warning from the other room. " He'd been discovered. No matter, he will take care of them just like he did the guards earlier," he thinks to himself.

"Wait a moment, who yelled. I'm alone. That voice sounded a little familiar though, but from where?" Sylvar's eyes open as he quickly sits up, trying to get his bearings.

Sylvar let the women from town talk to Brinya, figuring she would be more open with them than some stranger. He listens to the conversation, taking mental notes, and nods as the half-orc confirms some of the group's suspicions.

He turns to respond to Aradesh. "We may find Rodrik's jounal when we find Katrezra. I think finding both will give us some very needed information about what he was investigating. That in turn may lead us to the apprentice from the weaponsmith."

Not know much about healing, he lets the others inspect the body while he tries to help the best he can, pointing anything out that looks out of the ordinary.

Sylvar rubs his eye as if he has something in it while the others examine the wolves. "Poison? Good thing they weren't able to bite anyone. It seems things are moving quickly in whatever plan our enemy has conceived. Let's get to the weaponsmith."

The attack came fast, not expecting wolves in the middle of town. Sylvar is impressed with the group's ability to take care of themselves. Hoping to help out, he stabs at the nearest wolf with his longspear but he can't get his spear into position and nearly dropping it.
