Standing and gathering his things, Marcy shrugs. "I'll watch from the ferry."

Stump nods at Marcy's comment. Aye I suppose that may be the best route, I don't like the idea of all that water but its certainly faster then walking. I suppose we should get going then?

A flying horse eh? Now this is something I have to see. An expression of surprise and anticipation appearing on his face.

"Don't think of it as water." he said, apparently to Stump, though his eyes never left the bacon he was holding. "Try and imagine it as a great sea of beer. The prospect of falling overboard won't seem so bad."

Stumps eyes grow wide and a large grin appears across his face.

You do realize lad you are now responsible if I drown.

"So, shall we walk or shall we ride?" he asked, around a mouthful of eggs.

Stump sits down to join Marcy for a meal, although his meal seems to consist of more alcohol then food.

A good meal plus 2 mugs of ale sounds about right XD, btw since we have been doing all this drinking do we need to roll any fortitude saves? I don't know what constitutes *a lot* of alcohol here.

Personally I cant say leaving land is a good idea, give me rock, sand or dirt but water you cant plant you feet on. He lets out with a grumble. But I suppose if it gets us there quicker it cant be helped. Whatever we choose lets be quick about it, sitting in a tavern is all well and good for story telling and revelry but there be adventures to have and I aim to have em.

Stump wakes from his awkward sleeping position, apparently this particular inn was less than accommodating for an individual of his...stature, although you would never tell from the loud snoring that no doubt kept his neighbors awake. Instead he managed to find sleep on what one could only assume to be a foot rest for a human but worked quite well when propped against a wall as a chair for a dwarf. After putting his armor back on Stump leaves the room and heads for the main area of the inn.

Well lads that was a good rest, now where can I get my morning pint of ale? He bellows loudly, drawing puzzled looks from nearby patrons.

GM:
Also throwing down 5sp for a meal (for last night) and how much was a night at the inn?

"I've got the chance, so I'm going to find a decent room for the night. I'm heading for the inn, if anyone wants to camp we can find a place to meet up in the morning."

Aye it might be a good idea to get some shut eye, makes the adventuring part a bit hard when ya cant keep yer eyes open.

Looks like the next round of drinks might be on me, what do you say guys?

The sounds go unnoticed by Stump as he finishes his drink, he slams the mug down on the table and lets out a satisfying exhale.

Aye that sounds good lad, never pass up a free drink, just a bit of dwarven wisdom for you that you can take with you.

Stump lets out a bellow Oh but come now Draig, that be half the fun of adventuring. Nothing but you and your companions testing your mettle against the unknown, come to think of it that be life in general that it does.

He turns to Verelatessa. Dont worry little one, just stay behind me and you should be fine, Marcy would make a fine shield too although you may miss the action from behind him. He lifts his glass toward Marcy in recognition.

Stump takes notice of the goblin and pauses from the conversation to nudge Marcy, nodding towards the goblin It may just be my Dwarven blood but you may want to watch your belongings, these goblins have sticky fingers that they do.

Shortly after she finishes the first one, Verelatessa orders another pint of alcohol. "Oh, glory and riches! My Momma and Pappa used to know all about that. Pappa was a tailor, not sure if I told you that already or not, but he was, and a right good one mind you, who used to tailor all sorts of useful clothes for thems who was seeking glory and riches. We heard all sorts of stories from people that came through our shop. That was before the Spell Purge you know. Then we moved here and now Pappa doesn't have a job anymore and Momma is the one working to set things up and get us fed and clothed. Which she's doing a pretty good job if you ask me, but she always seems to be struggling. That's why my kin and me are out working and seeking our glory and riches too. 'Course I never seem to hold onto my riches."

If riches were meant to be held onto lass they wouldnt be so popular now would they Stump chuckles

Acheron - The Keeper of Truth wrote:
The tender calls out her name and she runs up to grab her pint. You notice by the time she gets back to the table, the tankard is already 1/4 of the way empty.

Noticing the rate at which the halfling is drinking Stump decides he is a bit behind and quickly guzzles down his first pint and orders another.

Acheron - The Keeper of Truth wrote:
"So what sorta glory and riches are you seeking?"

Why the kind of glory that gets told around the tavern, and the kind of riches that sparkle of course.

Acheron - The Keeper of Truth wrote:
"I'm looking to be one of them casters but kinda scared to even start learning and going to school given the way the Imperium's been getting paranoid by everyone that's even sorta different."

Well lass I don't know much about magic but the way I figure it you either got it and they be coming for you eventually or you don't and you got nothing to worry about. So if you got the gift you may as well make use of it.

Acheron - The Keeper of Truth wrote:

Me and my kin... (Four sisters, two brothers) ...we've been doing oddjobs where we can find 'em." Shortly after your meal arrives, Verelatessa realizes she's been rambling. "Oh my I am so sorry that I've just been talking your ear off. *gulp* Its a terrible habit of mine that I'm doing my best to break, but sometimes I just rant and rant and don't know when to quit. Oh my! Like now! Ha! What do you know? Anyways! What about you folks? What brings you here to the land of... *gulp* ...Meronia's finer things in life?" And with one final *gulp* the pint that had been sitting full in front of her when you arrived is now empty.

Stump stares wide eyed at the halfling as the pint of alcohol that had been sitting in front of her is steadily consumed.

Haha now this is the kind of lass I like to see. Motioning to the halfling Barkeep, a round here for myself and my friend here. He shouts

As for why we are here my talkative friend, why adventure, glory and riches of course. A wide grin appearing on his face

Aye that be a useful trick, the vanishing act was nice too.

Draig Tywod wrote:

Stopping them, they mention to you that the cavern isn't there. They even checked the water line a small bit but a small settlement of Meronia-worshipping Undine impeded their way, citing their heretical disregard for Nature. They continue past you, leaving disparagingly back towards Ren.

Stump eyes the adventures as the depart

Hmmm, not much for adventures if they decide to up and leave after a run in with some of the religious locals. We should check out this Meronia group, in my experience its these types who always have something to hide. No offense to present company intended. He grins widely

Gold no, although I could do with more ale and there is no better reason to drink then a good fight. To our fallen enemies and may they bring us much more gold, glory and alcohol.

Male Dwarf Two-Handed Fighter (Alternate Class Feature) / 7

Stump brought his massive greatsword to rest on his shoulder and looked around.

Well that was a good fight, too bad there arent more, was getting a bit excited there.

Stump kneels down to his former opponents and folds their arms across their chest with weapons in hand.

I'm leaving their arms and armor, these men fought honorably, I intend to show them as much in death.

Continuing his own brawl with both his original foe and the new one, Stump, the short-statured dwarf of considerable strength, lifts his greatsword against the new arrival and gives his foe an impact worthy of a dwarf, as the blade falls through the man's shoulder. Is that it then? Pity.

All the while, Stump's original enemy (Enemy #8) swings at him with his own weapon, missing slightly as he brings it to bear on the backswing. This connects with the dwarf, but just barely, and the man can sense his defeat.

Combat:

Full Attack:
First:
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33

Now lad your going to miss all the fun if you go and do that.
He shouts before charging to meet the opponent to the south east (E8)

combat:

Attack: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 14 + 2 = 29 (character combat + charge)
Damage: 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (6, 1) + 13 = 20
(Charge: +2 Attack, -2 AC for one round)

Despite his attempts at merriment Stump could feel the tenseness in the air

Well now that we all have alcohol in us and since this city seems to bring an unease with quite a few of you I suggest we head out to this cave the paper speaks of. Perhaps a dark cave might lift your spirits, who knows we may even find a good fight or two along the way. He chuckled at the thought

"I wouldn't call it 'fine', but in a pinch..."

Ahha

Remarked Stump as he accepted the wineskin and took a deep drink
Fine is fine my good man, we all know the only difference between good drink is the amount of it and how quickly it gets you drunk.

Aye lad don't you worry, I guarantee whatever got this kingdoms panties in a bunch won't be something getting solved over night. Although I wouldn't mind seeing these so called caves that little piece of paper speaks of.

He says with a slight pause and a spark of anticipation as he takes another swig of ale

Stump approached the human he had been following, with outstretched arms and a wide grin.

Friend! This is a celebration, and a celebration calls for good drink. Would you would care to join me in such, alas I seem to be without, perhaps you might be inclined to share your bounty with a fellow warrior. Or at least direct me to a vendor where I might obtain my own.
He bellowed in a rough voice
But where are my manners, the name is Stump, Stump Weradin, Master of the blade, carnoisseur of fine drink and I have even been known to craft a few things from time to time.
He turns back toward Draig
And this concerned fellow is my new friend Draig who was convinced there would be no drink to be had but I knew otherwise.

Ah ha, now if he doesn't have the look of a proveyor of fine drink then I don't know who does. You best keep up lad. Motioning to Draig Wouldn't want to be the one to start rumors of an elf who couldn't keep up with a dwarf, Hah.

He moved swiftly, with renewed purpose, following the tall human outside.

Male Dwarf Two-Handed Fighter (Alternate Class Feature) / 7

Stump couldn't sit still through the speech, although he could hear it well enough he could not for the life of him tell who was speaking.

If they are going to give us some long winded speech, the least they could do is make sure we can see the blasted fools.
Clearly Stump was the only one actually having the problem, but he didn't see it that way.

Draig Tywod wrote:

"Dwarves are good traders, we saw many cities in the travels on our caravan. Elves however tend to be more secluded, and pickier about who they let in; its good for us though..."
Now looking uncomfortable from the speech
"It sounds like we are in for a trip, I'm not sure where this is going; but I doubt it will go without violence. You don't look like an imperial, so I think you would make a better partner; and we can make a good sum of gold from this."
Smiles a bit and relaxes
"How about we work together, watch each others backs in the field.
We both have skills valuable to each other, so as a team we can not only make it out alive; but mutually benefit."

Stumps face grew bright as an impossibly large smile grew from side to side of his face.

Oh ho, someone sounds eager, now that's the kind of enthusiasm I like to hear. Talk is for those who are either unwilling or unable to do what they speak of for themselves, and there seems to be far too much of it these days. Now I believe a celebration is in order, now where is the vendor with the mead.

Stump begins looking around hurriedly for the alcohol he is convinced there must be.
