I used to be a salesclerk in a large shoppingmall that happened to sell games and movies as well.
So i know that about one third of the people either don't know about ESRB or just don't care.
Many only buy the game dreading the ruckus their kid would raise if they didn't.

I understand that PFO will probably only be downloadable, but the fact still remains that i've seen how reckless many people can be.
If their kid whines about a game every day many parents will sooner or later give in to the pressure.

Then they go on the net with their credit card and let's the kid play thinking that he will get bored with the game sooner or later.
Most kids get's far less interrested with a game after playing it for one-two weeks (fact) you see.

Let's not forget that there are plenty of kids out there with ways to get ahold of their parents credit card without their knowledge.

Grandparents never buy a mature game if they are alerted to the violent content.
But most storeclerks i've worked with or seen in stores just plain don't care what people buy as long as they get paid so customers are rarelly alerted.
There are plenty of storeclerks are just too plain bored to bother alerting customers to the violence in games.
They are too busy checking the clock most of the time thinking: Can't time run faster so i can go home!

Paizo has the right attitude about the rating. Having a teen rating is good enough in my opinion.
While it's true that many kids see far worse things on the TV every day i don't think PFO should be another contributor to it all.

Spleenslitta- The salesclerk who has seen it all through 15 years behind the counter.

1) As long as the game is good and i have an excellent guild/community around me i can keep going forever.

2)I played WAR for half a year
The people i meet in the guild was incredibly nice and talking with them and having a bit of fun in sieges kept me going until even that wore thin.

3)The game made my patience go thin. It was just the same over and over.

4)I never played SWG or Shadowbane so i don't know about those.
i played WoW for less than 10 minutes before i gave up. I think i spent far more time making my character than the game itself.

But EVE...i loved a lot about that game especially the skill training system.
But in the end i thought the missions and mining was like going to work.
I wasn't having fun at all despite the things i enjoyed.

So in the end i think i wouldn't enjoy it for long (2months) if combat is too much like WoW.
I want monsters that are agressive instead of docile.

But if the combat has agressive NPC's and lot's of storyline to sink my mind into i can keep going for years.
Add a guild like the one i was member of in WAR and i could go on for decades.

I actually didn't know about Two steps from hell.
I guess that's because i practicly live under a rock because i really liked what i heard.

How about Triarii for some music that's more heavy on the feeling of doom and pomp & pride?

Do not follow that link.... Your ears will bleed!

I removed that link since i was being a bit of jerk by hanging that band out to dry like that and that's against the rules.

Edited it away...but not fast enough to save your hearing Gworeth. Sorry.

Most people turn off the game music and listen to something else on the side.
But what will Goblinworks be looking for?

I hope you realize that the number of players out looking to gank a wagon will far outnumber the players willing to protect a wagon.

You're effectively limiting any serious harvesting to large guilds.

Yes, I think serious harvesting will be done by large groups. But there will always be solo prospectors looking for a wildcat strike.

Getting a wagonload of resources out of the wilderness and back to a civilized area will be a challenge. It would be useful therefore to think about becoming an effective teamster able to drive fast, move quietly, detect threats, and use cover and camouflage to hide.

Or hire someone who is.

There is one more reason why we shouldn't be too concerned about banditry. Where there is a demand there will be those that satisfy that demand.

There will always be caravan guards but bounty hunting sounds way cooler so there should be plenty of players specialising in tracking down bandit gangs.

Everyone says this, do you actually mean it? Will you go over budget if the game is not ready? Every game to date launches the moment projected box sale revenue is equal to development cost. And every game launches with major problems that are well known, but go un-fixed, and then in the rush to fix the game new bugs are created that throw the game even more out of wack. And then everyone is surprised that only 30% of the players log on on a regular basis, and only 70% still hold an account.

This kind of question is always asked of every developer that want's to develop an MMO.

I have actually never heard of Goblinworks until now, but everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves.

Their CEO seems to have an almost dwarven like way of looking at how they will craft this MMO (and i like that)-

-This here shield may not look pretty. Ye can't polish it till ye can use it like a mirror.
But i guarantie that ye that it ain't so fragile that ye'll be able to smear butter on it and eat it like a piece of bread.
It's sturdy and that's what counts.

Valkenr: With all due respect and sincerity Valkenr--What answer could Ryan Dancey give to you that would satisfy your sceptism?
Everybody deserves a chance i say.

We'll definitely be adding content while the game is live. Our whole plan is to ship with the minimum viable product and then continue to evolve as we get feedback from the players.

Now that's what i wanted to hear. As for those that wanted all the humanoid races in the bestiary in the game-

-If Goblinworks do that something else will suffer for sure. But adding one or two handfulls of races would be a good idea.

Races that can mix into a normal human city without stretching our imaginations too wide should receive top priority in my opinion-
-tiefling,centaur,Aasimar etc.

But once we start mixing in full orcs, goblin, kobold and other dominantly evil races we will have a major problem no matter how hilarious a player can be when RPing his goblin character.

Now this is what i call a good idea.
