Background and History:
Though he is scarcely more than two decades old, Skyrn has already lived a long, hard life for his people. Hailing from the northern tribes of the Kellid tribes which inhabit the lands of the Worldwound, Skyrn has fought against horrors and abominations of the Abyss ever since he was old enough to fight. Like many of his people he would probably be dead by now if it were not for Professor Lorrimor; just over two years ago a strange bookish man traveled into the Worldwound region, looking for first-hand information and experience regarding the hordes of the Abyss. Unsurprisingly his caravan got attacked by a group of demons one day as they got lost in the twisted, corrupted landscape of the region, but the Professor and a lucky few of his men were saved by a strange group of savage tribesmen that had been hunting this particular group.
Once assured that they were not enemies or demons in disguise, the tribesmen took the Professor and his men back to their camp and gave them food and water so that they may rest and recuperate before being strongly encouraged to leave this land. One of the men in the group that saved the professor was the young Skyrn who already showed great promise and skill as a leader of his people, despite his gruesome appearance as a result of a childhood run-in with the Tainted Plague, for he had a keen intellect and a surprisingly curious mind once he discovered that the Professor was a teacher and a scholar. In the short time that the Professor stayed with this tribe, Skyrn was practically attached to the Professor, constantly asking him questions of all manner of things, ranging from nature and history to topics that were taboo in his tribe, such as the nature of magic in its many forms. As the Professor grew ready to leave, Skyrn knew that he would ever be restless if he did not join the Professor in his travels, and so seeking the permission of both the Professor and his tribe, he left with the Professor, hoping to learn more of the world at large.
Sensing the same potential within him that those of his tribe did, the Professor taught Skyrn many things in the months as they traveled back to the home of Lorrimor in Ustalav, who then paid for Skyrn to attend one of the schools in that nation, so that he might learn more of all manner of things. And so a new chapter in Skyrn's life opened as he attended the University of Lepidstadt, and while he has gotten into the habit of wearing clothes that completely conceal his appearance and his visage, he has shown quite the talent for alchemy. And so Skyrn has stayed at the University for the past year or so (still keeping in occasional contact with the Professor through letters), learning as much as he could from his professors and his books (though none could compare to the talent of Professor Lorrimor, at least in Skyrn's eyes) and also learning the hard way of how people can act, for his warped flesh has drawn the ire of more than a few of the superstitious folk that inhabit the Immortal Principality. Recently Skyrn has received a letter from his old friend, the Professor, but rather than being one their typical correspondences, it was one summoning him to the reading of his last will and testament, and so Skyrin left the University (taking a few of his books with him) and set out for the hometown of Professor Lorrimor; the small town of Ravengro.
Appearance and Personality:
Tall, as is many of his tribe, Skyrn stands nearly six and a half feet tall, all of it strong, tanned muscle, which makes quite a distinctive sight at the University, as very few scholars were capable of looking him in the eye. Making him even more distinctive than his size though, is his face; great scars and warped flesh, similar to burns in their appearance, cover the left side of his face and stretch down his left arm, chest, and reach all the way to his knee. While this type of injury is common among his people, usually as a side effect of the Tainted Plague, it has made Skyrn a bit of an outcast among the other students, and as a result he has taken to wearing large robes with hoods that cover his entire body. With his half raven-black, half snow-white hair that goes to his shoulder blades, and is frequently swept in front of his face as to hide his scars, Skyrn is capable of cutting quite the impressive figure.
While not as well-mannered or cultured as many of his fellow students, Skyrn does have his own rough sense of honor that extends to those that get to know him well. While he is merciless while in a fight, and will cut down a foe without a moment's hesitation, he will frequently come to aid of those that need it or ask it. While not the most trusting individual, Skyrn does have a weakness for new lore and new knowledge, as he is immensely curious and perhaps still a touch naive as to the dangers that knowledge can bring.
Advancement/Creation Notes:
- Skyrn will be taking levels in Alchemist (which is his favored class), possibly Master Chymist farther down the line
