Help please!

I've got players who are looking for prices for some unusal things.

The first is a custom pair of magical goggles with a continuous Death Watch effect.

The second is a baby shocker lizard, wanted only as a pet (not for combat purposes).

Thoughts on fair values for these requests? Much appreciated!

Welcome players!

Let's get down to business shall we? We'll begin by discussing character concepts and backgrounds. I hope to make this a cohesive, cooperative process in which everyone participates, offering feedback and ideas, etc. If you want to begin work on statting up your PC, that's fine, but I won't even look at the numbers until description and background are complete.

Some thoughts to keep in mind:

The module's setup will work best if the party is newly arrived at Carrion Hill (in Ustalav) as an established group. They could be an adventuring company with a history, if you like, or simply a group of freelancers hired for a job (maybe the Pathfinder Society is investigating the suitability of the town for a new PF Lodge?). Your ideas are needed and welcome in this matter.

For those who wish to work on statting up a sheet now, consider the following guidelines:

-5th Level PCs
-Initial ability scores by 20 point buy
-Starting gold, per 5th level characters in the Rulebook = 10,500 gp (limit 3500 gp for any single item)
-I will determine hit points for you
-Two non-overlapping traits
-I will need to review and approve anything that isn't from the core rules
-Due to the nature of this game, I will somewhat relax my usual 'no evil alignments' rule, but your choices must be conducive to the party being able to function well as a team. Will discuss further, as needed.

Time to head out for now. Looking forward to our discussion and the character creation process.

Let's make it a great game!

Walk, if you will, the claustrophobic alleys of the Tangle, the middenstone vats of the Filth, and the cobbled white roads at the summit of an ancient hill. Know that this is but the latest of cities to crown this summit, a monument to the filth and grime and waste of civilization. The city was built upon the battlefields of history past, for many have sought to control this key feature, this lonely hill in a sea of mud and mire. Only its name has remained constant through the ages — Carrion Hill.

Greetings all!

I'm looking for five mature, dedicated players to have a go at the Pathfinder module Carrion Hill. I'm a 36 year old gamer who has been hooked on RPGs since the early 1980s, and I'm hoping to connect with some like-minded gamers in an engaging play by post adventure. Potential players should be able to post on something resembling a daily basis (excepting illness, emergency, vacation, and so forth). I'd like to be able to find players who will work at breathing life and personality into their PCs, taking full advantage of the written word as afforded by the pace of a message board game. Combats will be visualized by hosted map images (or maybe even a Google docs spreadsheet) with the intent to keep them fast-paced and exciting. Die rolls will be handled using the built-in message board roller, again, to help keep things moving along.

I'll not likely simply accept the quickest five folks who chime in with interest. Instead, I'll have a look at some of your other posts 'round these parts to get a sense of your writing style and demeanor. Any other PBP experience you have will be particularly useful in this regard, but if you're a first timer, that's okay too. Just tell me a little something about yourself when you post. I'll hold off at least until tomorrow, just to let the Monday crowd have a look, and then I'll get around to the serious business of picking my players. It may go rather quickly, depending on the number of responses, so don't delay too long.

PCs will be created at 5th level, but I'd prefer we not get too far into the creation process at this point. After player selection, we'll make it a cooperative effort between players and DM, to ensure party balance and cohesion. Still, if you have thoughts or questions about the matter, don't hesitate to ask.

Finally, be aware that this module is really quite dark in tone, and is strongly inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Consider whether this type of module is your cup of tea before jumping in with both feet.

Prospective players, I look forward to hearing from you!

Good Gaming,
Simon Furr
