Bonus Feat: Humans select one extra feat at 1st level.

Skilled: Humans gain an additional skill rank at first level and one additional rank whenever they gain a level.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency
Paladins are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, with all types of armor (heavy, medium, and light), and with shields (except tower shields).

Aura of Good (Ex)
The power of a paladin's aura of good (see the detect good spell) is equal to her paladin level.

Detect Evil (Sp)
At will, a paladin can use detect evil, as the spell. A paladin can, as a move action, concentrate on a single item or individual within 60 feet and determine if it is evil, learning the strength of its aura as if having studied it for 3 rounds. While focusing on one individual or object, the paladin does not detect evil in any other object or individual within range.

Smite Evil (Su)
Once per day, a paladin can call out to the powers of good to aid her in her struggle against evil. As a swift action, the paladin chooses one target within sight to smite. If this target is evil, the paladin adds her Cha bonus (if any) to her attack rolls and adds her paladin level to all damage rolls made against the target of her smite. If the target of smite evil is an outsider with the evil subtype, an evil-aligned dragon, or an undead creature, the bonus to damage on the first successful attack increases to 2 points of damage per level the paladin possesses. Regardless of the target, smite evil attacks automatically bypass any DR the creature might possess.
In addition, while smite evil is in effect, the paladin gains a deflection bonus equal to her Charisma modifier (if any) to her AC against attacks made by the target of the smite. If the paladin targets a creature that is not evil, the smite is wasted with no effect.
The smite evil effect remains until the target of the smite is dead or the next time the paladin rests and regains her uses of this ability. At 4th level, and at every three levels thereafter, the paladin may smite evil one additional time per day, as indicated on Table: Paladin, to a maximum of seven times per day at 19th level.

Magical Knack
Pick a class when you gain this trait—your caster level in that class gains a +2 trait bonus as long as this bonus doesn't raise your caster level above your current Hit Dice.

BACKGROUND
----------------------------------------
The Story So Far: Sigmund was born the second son of a minor noble of Korvosa. As his older brother was raised to be an heir fitting the family's 'standing' Sigmund was left to his own devices. He spent his days living it up playing with the hearts of the local girls and causing trouble among the upper nobility. He found a hobby in training with the bow and was eventually noticed by a travelling company of soldiers, offered a place in the ranks of their archers he gladly accepted, hoping to find more purpose in life than that of frivolous fun. He learned much of the bow from his fellow archers, especially their captain, a man named Jack Talion. Jack told him many tales, it seemed Jack had been adventuring long before he became a soldier. In time Jack and Sigmund became inseperable, like the brother than Sigmund had never had in his own blood.

It was during a simple raid on a camp of bandits that everything changed. These bandits had a leader that was a much greater tactician than the average bandit chief. The bandit's performed a perfect ambush, Sigmund's fellow archers were cut down to the man, but somehow Sigmund survived. The other men of the company found Sigmund alone amonst the bodies of his friends and it was with whispers of “Blessed by Desna he is,” and “Luckiest man I've ever seen.” that Sigmund first gained the name Luckblessed. Over the next year Sigmund time and time again managed to live through what took the lives of other men and his reputation as Luckblessed was cemented.

Eventually even Sigmund started to believe there was something strange about his survival and his new found strength, perhaps the rumoured blessing of Desna was true? Sigmund left the life of a soldier behind, whether Desna was truly watching over him or not he had found himself a new goal, a purpose for which he would be a slave to. Following Desna's teachings he would bring freedom to the opressed in whichever form he could, he would be the little bit of luck that the downtrodden needed.

Sigmund remembered one of Jack's tales, that of working with a Daviren Hosk to defeat a group of goblins in a place called Sandpoint. He decided that was where he would start, he would bring tidings of Jack's unfortunate demise to Daviren and see if he could be of service to Sandpoint.

Appearance: A tall slender man with locks of gold and eyes of piercing blue. Sigmund has a kind of easy beauty that makes some question if he may have elven ancestry. He moves with a grace that seems quite unnatural, and doesn't seem to befall simple misfortunes like tripping or knocking things over.
Personality: Traces of Sigmund's boyhood attitude remain, he is easy going and often easily distracted by women, but his years as a soldier have instilled within him a sense of duty and purpose. He has seen many men die and considers it his duty to saves as many as he can in repentance for his own survival. Guilt is what drives him at the level of his deepest thoughts, and for this reason he would gladly sacrifice himself for the lives of others. He hopes to one day commune with Desna, to find if the source of his blessings are truly from her, and if so why she chose him over others.
