Several myths and legends surround heroes or gods who are a bit more macabre.

I think some abilities should Deal with fire, brimstone, the Undead, void energy etc.

One concept I think would be AMAZING is to go down the path of being a great old one godling where I get a "divine spark" from the tapestry... or the tapestry greatly influenced my divine spark.

There are traditionally darker gods (like rovagug or urgathoa) we should have options in the form of epithets that can reflect that darker path.

Yea I think the word hero was taken a little bit too literal here. I mean the Examplar is as far as I understood it a representation of people/myths/legends that are/were greater than life, so what about Vlad the impaler, Genghis Khan and maybe Morgana Lefay for example. They are of a legendary status but certainly not the good kind of heroes. And lets be honest Heracles was also not the nicest guy to be around based on the legends... So yea give us evil hero options please.

I think it is safe to assume there will be more options in the full release. Remember, the playtest thaumaturge only had 6 implements, and the psychic didn't have their full list of concious and unconcious minds in the playtest.

But yes, an undead/necromancy apparition would probably work well.

I'd also like to see an archmage one, which gives you bonuses to big brain stuff. Maybe Ritual lore and academia lore? Someone to attune to if you are going to be doing some extreme librarianing.

I am just imagining that you could somehow use your apparition during rituals as secondary casters/helpers. At least under certain circumstances. Would be quite neet.

An archetype, that did a very good job on how I would expect the sage to work would be the living vessel. Some kind of build that leans heavely into that main apparition that you are working with. Maybe take away the flexebility all together and just completely focus on one apparition, but get stronger boons/abilities from it. Because at the moment the sage just feels like a worse version of the other one.

Since the Animist is a divine caster and not a primal caster (which is somewhat strange in itselfe especially with all the nature themed apparitions) I am somewhat disappointed that there is no darker/evil themed apparition that deals with necromancy in one way or another. Bending a dead soul to your will or working together with an evil and wrathfull spirit or something akin to that and giving you some unsetteling option would be nice.

It makes you immune to charm effects of a certain level and limits what actions you can take... but as far as I can tell that's all it does?

That seems really strangely niche for the core feature of one of the two practices. The channeler's level 1 ability is essentially playstyle defining since it lets you change your vessel spells on the fly, while the Sage ability is just a very specific defensive option (and even then one that bosses or creatures with overleveled spell effects can just bypass entirely).

I realize symmetry isn't necessarily a goal, but at the same time it feels like the Sage doesn't do a lot to push a core theme until level 17 gives you dual primaries.

... It's also a little weird that Sage Animists end up having no Master-rank save proficiency at all.

Yes, it is quite disappointing and in comparrision feals like there is currently little reason to take the sage. It just does not compete with the versatility the channeler offers. And to get the full benefit you even have to invest into a lvl 8 feat. So at the moment I just dont see the point.
