Eldritch Archer is a Magus archetype from Heroes of the Street. The Arcane pool abilities are like magic item crafting properties. I'd say a 'Flaming' bow would deal the additional fire damage as the property doesn't require a weapon type. However you couldn't have a 'Vorpal' bow, as it needs to be a slashing melee weapon. (Although a Vorpal Chakram would be cool!) ![]()
When you mention giving up schools, are you referring to spell access or implement abilities? You're only giving up one school in regards to spells (and Planes of Power also expands the elemental schools), and regards to implements, as I've said, it just makes them more powerful (more focus able to be assigned for resonant abilities), and Focus powers able to be used more often. ![]()

If you have a build, I'd like to see it! I don't see it much different than a normal Occultist, you get less Resonant, Basic Focus and Focus Powers to choose from, but they require mental focus invested in them to function anyway. Having all your focus on one 'implement' allows the resonant abilities to be more powerful, and more uses of the Focus Powers without losing mental focus points by moving them between implements or storing them in yourself. Sure they don't get an implement at lvl 17, but PFS doesn't really go that high does it? Up until then, they get two schools of spells at a time, skipping when an Occultist would get their odd-numbered implement. I see Sha'ir's more like Specialist casters, less variety, but gaining elemental abilities. Regardless, I just like the flavour :) ![]()
Sorry to necro this, but I'm going to be starting a Sha'ir in PFS. What no-one seems to be noticing is that it says that the Jin are insubstantial.

Being insubstantial should show they're non-combat pets. Not even pets, really. I'm more concerned about how they'd get around being insubstantial and unable to fly. Or am I completely misreading this? It does mention stats for the Jin in 'it's natural form' as well. ![]()
Diverse Obedience has Divine Obedience as a prerequisite, so regardless of whether it works with Celestial Obedience, you're going to have to use both Divine and Celestial Obedience feats. I really hope there could be some errata somewhere to combine the obediences together. Diego Rossi wrote: (they are demigods, non gods, so a strict reading of the text of Deific obedience wouldn't allow that) 'Deity' is splashed around the Cleric class constantly, but doesn't mean that Clerics of Empyreal Lords don't have an Aura: Core Rulebook wrote: Aura (Ex): A cleric of a chaotic, evil, good, or lawful deity has a particularly powerful aura corresponding to the deity’s alignment (see the detect evil spell for details). Reading through it, Deific Obedience refers to the Exalted boons for deities, which wouldn't apply to Empyrial Lords as they don't have any (Unless you assume that those boons are the Exalted boons - I so wish they were... I so want an Exalted of Irez). ![]()

That's a nice idea using them as a tool. I just find it strange that Incense is mentioned a lot, but it's hard to get your hands on any.
A Seance Kit (Undead Slayers Handbook) has 10 sticks (amongst other things) and refers you to the Advanced Race Guide. Would you need both books? *shrug* ![]()

The listing in Advanced Race Guide also gives a weight, so that's around 250lb, hehe ![]()
As far as I can find, Incense as a purchasable item only appears in the Advanced Race Guide (if you're an Aasiamr, 10 sticks for 10g) and Occult Adventures. So starting a new character with incense in organised play would require owning Occult Adventures? I understand that material components can be purchased where the GM could expect they could be found, but what if they're not material components? As a side note, 7sp each in Occult Adventures makes the Atonement for a deliberate misdeed (2,500gp in offerings and incense) using only incense would be over 3,500 pieces, which I also find quite amusing, and most likely particularly pungent. ![]()
Sorry for the necro, but... Has there been anything authoritative on this problem? I'm only asking as I'm considering a Pathfinder Society character to enter this prestige class, and wondering if I'd have to defend my corner every session or abandon the idea completely. Is the table text wrong, or is the Spells section (and by extension Requirements section needing arcane spellcasting defined) wrong?
