This is probably a long shot, but I'm prepping to run Blood Lords for my local group, i've got a decent number of skeletons and zombies, but any suggestions for other undead I should pick up? I assume we won't know until the book drops, but maybe someone with some insider knowledge could give me a hint? Or we can speculate wildly!

My girlfriend and I will be playing this scenario and are looking for a group. We have a lvl6 beast shape animal aspect druid and a level 6 archery focused ranger. Would love to find arcane and divine types but any party would do.

Hi All

I was considering buying a 4 day badge to sign up during open registration but I'm not sure if it's worth it without knowing what's still available. I'll only be able to attend specific time slots so I want to check on the status of the few events that I can attend. Is there a way to check on the availability of events prior to open registration or buying a 4-day badge?

Hi all, can anyone help remind me what night the PFS special or specials are normally on?

I'm surprised I haven't seen more of this, but is anyone gathering their tables of 6 ahead of time for the GC specials? Specifically I'm trying to find 2 more people for the Hao Jin Cataclysm, levels 7-9.

I put some thoughts to keyboard about books 1 and 2 of Strange Aeons and some reflections about what my gaming group has done while going through it.

Here are some cultists I painted up for my SA game. They are going to be the apostles in orpiment, the floaty guy will be the tatterman, and the guy with the mace will likely be zandalus (I know he doesn't have armor).

I am in the planning stages right now, but will likely have a party of 4 experienced players. I wanted to see how every felt about that party size for this AP and if you went with 15 or 20 point buy? Do you think it was too easy at 20 PB, too hard at 15?

Reading through ISoS the shrine of Desna got me thinking. Would Desna or her followers be a good ally against the old ones, or at least in the first book of the AP?

Desna is tied to dreams, the stars and fate, so it seems the Old Ones would be an enemy and the interference in the dreams of mortals might be something she, or likely one of her agents might try to do something about.

I ask because I am planning on running the game, I like things to be tough but also I like give my PCs some type of resource when things get really bad. I was thinking of giving them some type of blessing points they can use for a re roll or a minor bonus and regaining them would be based on things that mesh with Desna's profile. My other thought was doing this with another old one, such as Cthulhu, and allow the PCs to take on insanity points or some kind of corruption to get bonuses, and each time they do, I can check to see if they suffer a lasting negative effect.

Spawning a bit off of this thread. I wanted to see what the official stance, if there is one, and if not everyone's thoughts using scanned copies of character sheets (or hero lab on tablet) and scanned chronicles at a table.

Do you think it's ok? Does it create an undue distraction? Is it a great way to have all of your backup characters? Does it create additional trust issues?

Personally I think it's fine and I see people doing it already with hero lab, and I rarely see people get audited, but I want to have my docs with me if I do. I love the paper feel and would bring my character and his folder of past glories, but it would be cool to have all of my backups digitized in case I need to swap characters on the fly.

I am just about to start up a new campaign with an entirely new group of people. I wanted to play something interesting, we were lacking a meaty character so I decided to make a barbarian. I want to make a thunder and fang style shoanti and want some advice. I think I am going to dip ranger for 2 levels after creation, since it fits with my story (Barbarian who has left the tribe and is hunting/searching for someone). We are starting at 2nd level.

Race: Human

My stats with 20 point buy are

S 18

D 14

C 15

W 10

I 8

C 10

My first few levels, feats and abilities would go like this.

1 B Wep Focus Earthbreaker and Weapon Focus Klar

2 R Favored Enemy (Orc)

3 R Combat Style (TWF) + Thunder and Fang Style

4 B +1 con, accuracy rage power

5 B Power Attack

Level 5 Attacks

EB +7 2d6+8

Klar +7 1d6+4

w/ Rage and accurate stance

EB +10 2d6+10

Klar +10 1d6+6

AC 22 (10+2(dex)+7(Breast Plate +1)+3(+1 Klar))

HP 56 (+10 temp HP with Rage)

So this is what I have put together so far. I am going with unchained barbarian since I think the static +2 to hit and dmg helps the TWF build more. I really like the ability to keep my shield bonus to AC while fighting with thunder and fang. I think with the accurate stance and rage I can outpace the penalties for TWF.

One question I have is, should I bother with ranger? I took it so that I would not need a 15 dex and to get Thunder and Fang. I could swap my Con and Dex to get to 15 dex and hit the prereqs for TWF on my own.

Does this look suitable at all, I don’t need to be OP but I want to be able to hold my own as a the tough guy in the party. I also have a strong want to paint the shoanti miniature.

Thoughts, concerns, comments, lambasting?

Hi All,

Not sure if this belongs here or in the Carrion Crown forum, but reading over the sanctioned content section I see it lists Part3-Area U11. I assume this means Part 3 through area U11 and not Part 3 and Area U11, but that seems like a huge chunk of the adventure path.

Has anyone run this yet for society (I have already ran it as a homegame and it took a good while.)?

Hi All,

I am currently trying to decide where to go next with my paladin and I want to branch out in to mounted combat, so I thought about taking a few levels of Cavalier.

However my question comes from how do the paladin and cavalier mounts stack? Do I have the option for two mounts? Do both classes stack for my total druid level? Do I get both the Int 6 mount and the Cavalier ability to ignore armor check penalty?

Any thought or can anyone point me to anything official?

Hey All,

So my group and I are about to start a new campaign where we will be able to swap out GMs once someone runs out of steam/ideas/reaches a naturally stopping point and then we can continue on with the same characters while someone else takes a turn at running. I volunteered to GM first and have the basic gist of my game outlined. We are using a as of yet unnamed PFS like organization that will be asking the players to go investigate or do certain things, we will use this to help transition from one GM to another.

I am just looking for some general critiques on what I have so far ideas or criticism. This is for a group of about 4-5 level 1 characters.

Also if you are one of my players please stop reading here.

Beware the Text Wall:

The Adventure will take place in the small (700 people) logging town of Sellens Hollow, which will be having its mead festival when the PCs arrive. A good portion of the towns current population is made up of Seasonal Loggers who just moved into their tent town by the mill.

Firstly the PCs will meet with a representative of the organization in Almas, Andoran and from there be tasked with going to the town of Sellens Hollow just north of Bellis in Andoran. Their contact says the organization intercepted a coded message and all they have been able to decipher thus far is "Sellens Hollow", "Protected" and "Item". He wants them to go find out what, if anything this message could pertain to, and if it doesnt pan out to pick up several cases of their famous honey mead.

The PCs will arrive to Mirth and Merriment during the mead festival and be able to partake in several games and meet some of the NPCs in the city. From here its up to them to find out what they can about city and meet the characters who I've fleshed, this is will be a good opportunity for roleplay and interaction.

From here the PCs should figure out this is a very productive logging town, and that for some reason the city and surrounding area are not troubled by Fey attacks like so many of the other Andoran logging villages. Also they should find the mayor is a bit of a womanizer who recently lost his Symbol of office, a rainbow hued crystal staff that looks as it were a tree branch.
-They will have several people to investigate as the staff went missing when the seasonal loggers showed up, but also several liaisons the Mayor had with females of the town.

At this point the adventure will take a turn, during the night a contingent of what look like andoran soldiers will show up under the helm of Connor August an fairly well known Eagle Knight Captain. Depending on knowledge checks the PCs may know that he was one of the youngest Eagle Knights to reach captain, and in his last command its rumored he had become unstable and threatened innocents to defeat some chelish slavers. What they dont know is that he was promoted to captain and then silently forced to retire as his actions were quite heinous and the Eagle Knights did not want to lose face and thought the fall of one so popular would be bad for Morale.

Connor has since been seduced by a chelish devil binder and been turned to their cause. They believe there is an artifact in this town that keeps the fae from its borders and they want to twist its magic to use the fae agaisnt the people of Andoran. This is part of a greater plot that I will continue later of Chelish/Andoran Hostilities. This artifact is the Mayor Missing Staff that has been part of the leadership of this town since it was founded.

Conner and his men Arrive under the guise of reports of forced labor/slavery/magical persuasion in the town. This explains some of the wizards he brought going around the town detecting magic and questioning everyone. His men spread false information to the townspeople that this is politically motivated due to the towns high production and this was all done to appease some of the lumber consortium and let the local lumber union they need to join the consortium. Hopefully this will lead to some interesting conflicts in the town with the PCs trying to discover what is really going on.

Over the next few days the PCs will have the chance to notice several things to tip them off, mainly some of the Andoran Soliders are wearing what look like non standard uniforms (eagles of the wrong size, in the wrong place), or the Soldiers looking more chelish in features, with purple eyes and pale skin, that they try to hid with makeup. Also the will encounter several soldiers trying to harrass the locals, most likely making unwanted advances on some of the locals when the PCs are near. Lastly they can find one of the clerics that came along has an Asmodean Holy symbol under his robes(he will have an excuse if questioned).

Once they start to realize something is afoot Connor and his men, about 40-50 start rounding up the loggers and holding them in the lumber warehouse and then taking the women and children from the city and holding them in the City Hall. The townsfolk are all cramped and the guards are obviously using threats to the safety of the women and children to keep the men in line. They also board and take over Sellens Pride the only river boat at dock right now, and setup patrols around the city.

The PCs can go into custody or escape that will be up to them, Either way they will learn (if they haven't earlier in their investigations) that Connor is looking for Renne a lady of the Night and the one the Mayor thinks took his staff, but she is no where in town and had fled into the forest when Connor first arrived fearing the Mayor would ask their help in finding what she took (her plan was to hop the riverboat and sell the item to start a new life).

From here its a bit open ended eventually Conner will find out that Renne fled into the forest after ransacking the town and torturing the townsfolk. Its up to the PCs if they want to look for Renne or try breaking out the townsfolk and leading a revolt.

Presumably at some point it will be Connor and some of his associates leading a party into the woods and leaving the town at the hands of his men. I would expect the PCs now to try and revolt at this point, and then follow Connor and the Chelsih Devil Binder into the woods for the final confrontation. When confronted the Binder will flee leaving them face Connor as he has cornered Renne.

Its this last part that im a little shaky on only because it can go several different ways, but I have several important NPCs named and created along with locations in the town so I feel we should be able to work with whatever the party wants to do. So any thoughts, is it something you would want to play, things you things are to forced or unexplained? I plan for this to take maybe 3-4 sessions and level the players to 3 at the end.

Hello All,

I am trying to answer a question for a player in my group, If a magus cast a spell like frostbite. where he can make several touches per round can all of these be done with spellstrike or only the first one when it is cast?

Also is he only gets the melee attack on the fist touch granted by the spell are the other times discharging the touch count as free actions or standard touch attacks?

Hi All,

I wanted to check, for a small cavalier with a pony mount, cavalier says it counts as combat trained, does that count against the total number of tricks the animal knows.

Well seeing as it looks like we will end up surviving the apocalypse I should try and find out my question before my next game. I want to know what happens when I drink a potion of enlarge person, or any other potion of a spell with a casting time longer than 1 standard action.

Quote:

Activation: Drinking a potion or applying an oil requires no special skill. The user merely removes the stopper and swallows the potion or smears on the oil. The following rules govern potion and oil use.

Drinking a potion or using an oil is a standard action. The potion or oil takes effect immediately. Using a potion or oil provokes attacks of opportunity. An enemy may direct an attack of opportunity against the potion or oil container rather than against the character. A successful attack of this sort can destroy the container, preventing the character from drinking the potion or applying the oil.

So from what I see the potion or oil takes immediately, does this mean that the effect of the spell happens immediately or the spell begins to be cast.

If the latter and you must wait the full round does the standard action it took to drink the potion count as part of the time of the casting?

Thanks in advance for all of the help i'm sure is to come.

Hi all, I am looking for some guidance on the Surge ability of the ocean subdomain (Page 94 APG). It does not have a range listed and I did not see one in the errata. I was assuming 30 ft. but since I want to for my PFS character I would like something more official.

Hello all,

This is more of a question for my wife but as the designated rules guy I wanted to find out. For a PFS character she wants to have a small animal to use with her bard, perhaps a monkey or small cat, nothing that would do anything in combat. Is it assumed she can just have something like this as it would have no other value than roleplaying her character.

Secondly are there costs and types of animals available other than the riding animals in the Core Rulebook? Thank you in advance for the help.

I hope this is the right forum for this as my wife and I are looking looking for some good cons to get PFS games in and were wondering if anyone knew if they would be running them at templecon 2012? Thanks for all the help.
