I'm a bit scared about Hollow Mountain to be fair; a longer Dungeon Crawl at a level where their damage options are limited could end up a long slog; And since i don't wanna shorten the Dungeon either, i was wandering what my options could be;

Thanks for the insight about mind-affecting effect, didn't think that one out by myself!

LIttle backtory first;

Our gaming group has been fairly consistent for a few years now; we played Rise , and are now Halfway through Shattered Star; The players are fairly good at optimizing and have a good rule knowledge. We're only 3 and we have no big issue with the difficulty even in a dungeon focused AP like Shattered Star

Now we are planning our character for Return, and the 3 players want to play an Arcane Caster of some sorts : Sorceror, UC Summoner and Witch.

DM who played return, how would you imagine the major roadblocks be for such a group?

I'll just tell how it ran as a sideplot;

My Nualia ended up captured by the PCs. Orik Tsuto and Lyrie all escaped custody too, with Orik becomming in time a protector of Sandpoint and Lyrie the rival of my Wizard PC.

Upon finding her journal, the PCs decided to lock her up and slowly help her towards redemption. I played her as sad, suicidal and self mutilating girl, but the group Paladin was keen on redempting her and was kind enough to her, so she eventually got oriented towards redemption. In the end of Chapter 2, she had cutted her own demonic arm and went into a coma.

Come chapter 3. Tsuto goes back to Sandpoint, kills father Zantus, kidnaps Nualia, and flee to the Hook Mountain Clanhold, trying to convert his love back to evil. Unfortunately, Nualia contacts the PCs for help via the kind Paladin, and the group rescues her, trusting her to be actually on their side. Tsuto and Lyrie escapes, AGAIN.

The Party suffers a humiliating defeat by Black Magga (this is important)

Comes chapter 4. The humiliated Tsuto leads the charge against Sandpoint and gets killed. While the party goes to Jorgenfist, Nualia actually takes the place of Father Zantus (by hinding her identity and being the mysterious one-armed priestess of Sandpoint).Her last act towards a full redemption is by betraying Lamashtu by sumonning Black Magga, allowing it to be killed by the PCs at the end of Ch4.

At the end of Ch5 (Present day) , as the party returns to Sandpoint, they discover that Nualia wasn't 100% honest and is part of a secret cult, only to discover the existence of the cult of the Redeemer Queen (To Foreshadow Nocticula's presence in Return). Nualia is one of their more trusted allies now.

As for Lyrie, the only last unresolved thread, continued on her quest to get into the Pathfinder Society no matter what. The party will encounter her again in Xin-Shalast, as she will the one feeding the party info on Mhar, realizing something really bigger is at stake and making peace with the party if they let her go.

So yeah, Nualia can be a great addition to Rise beyond chapter one

Same thing here, commenting so i can see if a fix comes up :)

Name of PC: Amatias, Male Aasimar
Class and Level: Bard 2
Adventure: Burnt Offerings
Catalyst: Dancing

So they got in the Catacombs of wrath, and proceed to clear the place, totally destroying Erylium and feeling over-confident about how easy the place truly is.

As they begin to fight Koruvus, the Bard and biggest guy of the party gets full-attacked by the goblin and dropped to 1 sad little hp. He could just 5-footed back and enjoy his life, but no. he had to dance.

Using a class shenanigan to replace a Acrobatics check to move in the enemy space with perform, he wanted to reposition behind Koruvus to enable the Fighter/Thief sneak attack in the next turn.

But then he failed the check, and got an AoO, natural 20, and then died.

And the worst part is, he never got his date with Ameiko.

First off, Andoran does not exists.

The players fought a revolutionary war in Arcadia, based loosely on the american revolution, with Cheliax in the role of the British Crown, and allied the Arcadian colonies (with a few addups) in a single nation, basically making another Andoran.

Right now, 15 years later Post-revolutionary Arcadia is the new setting, with the Inner Sea region being the "Old world". Cheliax tried to get revenge by develloping a superweapon (In the idea of a nuclear weapon), which blew up in the middle of Egorian, opening a WorldWound-style gap in reality in the middle of Cheliax (yeah, the players kinda failed this quest...)

So yeah, Andoran is basically located in Arcadia, and Cheliax blew itself up.

...Oh, and Kaijus and Dinosaurs inhabit the Arcadian west coast, making the wild west REALLY wild.

In my setting, the players usually go between 3 cities

Mavera is an island city, built on ancient ruins that got ushed up to the surface. It's a chaotic good city, mainly with progressive values and love for arts

Alyez is the opposite, a more conservative-oriented city oriented on buisness and the industrial era with a great military force

And last but not Least, Ambrefort, the city i gave to my players to rule, which is a total mess and run over by a sentient Cannon Golem named "The Mordatron"

Well, as a DM, i usually try to drive my players to fill a certain roll ("Hey guys, he already have a rogue and ennemies only have one back") but never to the expense of the fun. if no one have fun playing a caster, well then there will be no casters. i'll have to adapt to this and not put the players in a situation where they only rely on magic, but sometimes, a nice jab to the party is when you hear them say "it would be SO much easier if we had a caster".

Sometimes, seeing what they miss can push the players to try out new roles in future sessions...
