Goblin NPC

About an hour later a squad of well equipped hobgoblin guards comes to the room, in undercommon they say, 'We take yous now."

Goblin NPC

The goblin barkeep reappears and asks Xil'etha. "Tribitz mad, guud goblins and some not so guud, eaten and burned," Hehehehe, "fire guud, if you on right side of blast." He chuckles more. "Anyway Frothy hear Tribitz, the Almighty, want volunteers to go kill hydra. Brings heads back to him for big, big reward. Yous go kill?"

Goblin NPC

The goblins chuckle when they finally get the insult to the duergar.

Meanwhile the acolyte looking goblin in the background nods at the giants price and the unfortunate human's are lead away by a contingent of well armed goblins and the acolyte.

Goblin NPC

"Whys you don't say so then." he eyeballs the others. 'umies and dueg'rs try sneaky things, no funny bizness, or yous be ssseeeing me axe." With that the grinding of metal on metal can be heard and the many bolts are unlatched. The door swings open.

Goblin NPC

A sliding eye opening scratches the metal door as it reveals a bulbous eye, "Oy, whatcha want?'

By the way you would know that fresh fruit and vegetables carry a premium in price as they are nearly unheard of this far beneath the surface.

Goblin NPC

The goblins gather their stuff but when they get to Karnog's bridge there is a lot of chatter in their native tongue. anyone speaking gobins will understand that they are real confused about where the bridge came from. Several drop to their knees and appear to be praying in their tongue.

"Yous don't steal words from head and put to paper do you? Not guud, not guud if yous do. Hows yous make crossing?" A few poke at it with speer tips to see if it's sturdy.

Goblin NPC

"You guud stuff, we lead yous to big city." He looks everyone, "Try not to git eat'n."

Goblin NPC

Their large bulbous eyes widen with the kapow sound and screams. the goblin pushes his little treasure pile forward, although he picks up a greenish "marble" frowns a bit then puts it backing the pile. He gives you 7 "marbles", three flattened frogs and ball of tangled string. Of korse, guud canteen juice is shared."

Several of the others see this trade going down and start to pull items out of their pockets and sacks in hopes to find a trading partner.

Goblin NPC

One of the goblins takes ha big swing before passing it Grung, it smells like dirty turpentine. Another goblin pulls out backs looks like marbles of various colors and shapes. the third produces a ball of tangled string and three flattened frogs.

make an appraise check

Goblin NPC

Three of the goblins comes over to Grung they plop down and one pulls out a rusty canteen, he extends it towards Grung mug, he makes an assortment of grunts and sounds as he appears to be sharing with you in exchange with what is in your tankard.

Goblin NPC

The goblin pulls out his dented stained copper cup and tells the others to gather round with theirs. "No no bad juju, not scribble...no funny biznes"

Goblin NPC

As Desmond walks near it the goblin rushes up to grab at your hand to tug you back.

Goblin NPC

Des you notice there is a small rockfall trap that the goblins had set up to prepare the battlefield. One of the goblin's bulbous eyes widen as Des walks near it, he frantically chatters at you.

Goblin NPC

"Trade we make, guud for us. Lemme see boom boom maker." He steps forward, most of the other goblins lower their weapons. The tension lessens. "I great, I smart, you show what you trade, if Gobbly like Gobbly scoutin' party lead you to great city."

"Me Gobbly, you not."

Goblin NPC

"boom boom-makers guud, Of korse we swap...me gots guud stuff." The speaker steps forward. Pulling out a squished toad and a jar of picked flies to show you.

Goblin NPC

Scrunching up his face, Guud chewy things trade? Pop pop, bang bang boom trade?"

Goblin NPC
Desmond Aeros wrote:

I was under the impression they didn't speak common, sorry.

Desmond casually lopes his swords around. "Might as well calm down and talk to us, a fight won't go your way."

I did a random check under a spoiler to determine if one of the goblins spoke common. And you they did.

Before RD 1 begins: One of the goblins give order to hold ground, then in broken common"spe'k"'

Goblin NPC

The goblins scrunch their faces in stereo clearly confused. "all Brudd'ra dead...no tribe." one of the them states.

While the other one belches loudly, "ate 'em." he cackles and slams his small hand on the table as if its the funnies thing he has heard all month. Several of the patrons laugh at their antics.

Goblin NPC

The goblins look up and grab the grog, "sss'rvig wen'ch?" In a confused state. They greedily pull the tankards to dry, cracked lips.

Goblin NPC

You don't recognize the dwarf that was tossed out nor the one behind the bar.

You do see a couple goblins against the wall, "M're gr'g" one yells in very broken common.

Goblin NPC

"Jinkoo do guud!"

Goblin NPC

The last thug falls absolutely obliterated. Jinkoo snatches the head from mid-air with glee.

Goblin NPC

"Yes...yes...thievy humans and TRAITORS!"

Goblin NPC

"Ohhhhhh, bleeeessss'd h..h..healin'" He wiggles his mending limbs. "We can sneaky in, but they 'ave the sew'r, or thru front door. You picky, you pick Jinkoo show way then."

Goblin NPC

"Thievys and traitors!!" The wide eyed goblin stammers. "His Holiness Paralictor Chard in big big big danger. Only he and a few other's left to protect, others were sent out to patr'l."

He has a tear in his bulging eye, "They run Jinkoo off, theys control the sewers and cellar. Jinkoo do good, Jinkoo find YOU."

Goblin NPC

The tired and battled group's journey back towards the Taranik House is slow. several dottari guards look at you oddly with the lumpy roled up carpet. They choose not to ask too many questions as group presses on.

There's a frantic cry from the darkness as a battered goblin wearing Hellknight armor, but without his helmet, comes from an alley. "G...G...Ger'd, help Jinkoo. Danger the House is being overrrrrrr'n."

The goblin is covered with filth and blood.

Goblin NPC

"Jinkoo do, Jinkoo do mighty warrior."

Goblin NPC

"Me Jinkoo...proud to meet friends of L'rd Chard, the finest leader the Hellknights have had." His speech is actually quite good for a goblin.

Goblin NPC

Vatalda's bolt strikes the fiend and it flops on the ground, not moving.

What are you all doing?

Goblin NPC

The goblin cackles gleefully as the do-gooder barely misses.

Where's the ole magic missile spell when you need one?

Goblin NPC

RD 24: Goblin Boss

Seeing the odds of success turn against him the hovering goblin swings with renewed vigor at Malcolm,

greatsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9;damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

fumble: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

The divine grace of Abadar deflects the fatal blow as the greatsword drops to the ground.

Goblin NPC

RD 23: Goblin Boss

The hovering goblin swings furiously at Malcolm, "If I die I take one of the cursed with me!"

greatsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27;damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Confirming Crit:

That melee attack rounds up to 1

Goblin NPC

RD 22: Goblin Boss

The goblin boss changes tactics and reaches out to claw touch Argrim,

touch of corruption: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17;damage, plus fatigued: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Fort Save DC 14 to negate the fatigue

Goblin NPC

RD 22: archer

The goblin archer drops his bow and pulls out a dagger, stabbing at

1Vatilda, 2 Sheyan: 1d2 ⇒ 2

He lashes out with the small blade trying to nick flesh,

att: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6;damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2

His palm is slippery from battle, the blade slips but does not tumble out of his hand.

fumble: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Goblin NPC

The goblin boss takes out his anger on, as he hovers:

1 Argrim, 2 Malcolm: 1d2 ⇒ 2

Goblin NPC

RD 21: Lone archer

The last archer takes a five foot step to AG 9 and shoots at Vatilda,

arrow: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19;damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

The arrow sting the oracle.

Goblin NPC

He is an outsider, the smite evil bypassed his DR.

The creature growls a chaotic groan of pain.

Goblin NPC

DM Rolls:

25% chance that he will move, avoiding AOO's, and strike: Malcolm, Vatilda, Argrim or Sheyan in that order.
1d100 ⇒ 8

The fiendish goblin antipaladin unfurls his wings and takes flight 10 feet high towards Malcom, avoiding AOO, and swings his greatsword at Malcolm.

greatsword: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 1 = 11;damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

moving less than 1/2 speed, DC 10: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Basically, he is 10 feet high hovering and swinging down at you. He is within your 5 ft reach.

Goblin NPC

I'm going to go ahead and skip Valilda and Kalim in order to keep the game moving. When they check in they can act, it will not effect their initiative order. I don't reshuffle initiatives as it adds confusion and complexities and potential recon which I don't do. It will be as if they held their action.

The remaining goblin archer fires his bow at Karnog,

bow: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28;damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

goblin:

"Die y'unholy scum"

The arrow hits home.

Argrim and Karnog you can take your actions.

Goblin NPC

RD 20: Bodyguards

The remaining bodyguard is under Vatilda's murderous command spell and he 5 ft steps to AE,8, and swing is pitted long sword at the archer in AF,8.

longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22;damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Striking the archer.

Goblin NPC

Malcolm hits the archer hard with his AOO but the creature is still standing.

Goblin NPC

Normally on Natural 1's I require a dex check to see if you fumble your weapon or snap a bow sting (DC 10). This is a spell so you don't need to roll this fumble attempt.

Your touch attack AOO did hit and kill that goblin, so disregard the 6 HP of damage Sheyan. YOu realize that you need to get to the backside of the goblin boss who is wielding the greatsword in order to try to free your companions.

There is an aura of cowardice surrounding the boss and expanding 10 feet from him, -4 penalty on saving throws vs fear. Creatures immune to fear lose their immunity while in the aura. This is in addition to a desecrate spell that is in effect.

Goblin NPC

RD 19: BodyGuard

The second bodyguard tries to hit Sheyan,

pitted longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24;damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Confirming Crit:

pitted longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14;damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

What is your HP status?

Goblin NPC

RD 19: bodyguards

The one under the water tries to free himself form the lasso as the current drags on him,

escape artist, untrained, full round: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

He frees himself,

swim check, untrained: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

He manages to grasp on the dwarf's, Varl, foot to keep himself form being swept away in the current.

Goblin NPC

RD 18: Goblin archers

The goblin that Sheyna hit wiht his flaming weapon moves 5ft backwards its difficult terrain since it has a chair there so Sheyan gets an AoO.

He fires at Sheyan,

arrow: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24;damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

The goblins fire at Karnog and Vatilda,

arrow at Karnog: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17;damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

arrow at Vatilda: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28;damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Can everyone make sure their HP status is up to-date?
