Well, let's talk a little about gaming. I picked up the D&D 5th edition so, I have been getting a feeling for the game again it is different than the original manuals. How are they different from Pathfinder? Do you really think one is better than the other?
I’m interested in opinions from people who’ve played both, because I notice a lot of the games round here are 5e. I love PF and think it’s a fantastic system, but am intrigued by people’s experience w/5e.

I have not played much of 5e but I liked what I saw. Characters are made much faster, and I didn't feel like the system was working agaisnt me when I tried to rogue.

It certainly have a lack of choices, but compared to pathfinder gazillion of useless things that's not that bad.

Who was the most memorable NPC you've ever run and why?

The estranged lover of a PC. In her backstory she had left him because he was abusing her. About the time her character made 7th level or so he reappeared, swearing to her he had reformed and had hunted the land over to tell her this and to profess his love. She wasn't having any of it, but he did adventure with them for a bit.

When she spurned him, he gradually became more and more angry until he attacked her. She beat him and sent him away, hopefully for good this time. But it wasn't the last time they'd see him.

In one adventure, they were cornered by a pack of ghouls and it looked like there was no way out. Suddenly, from the rear, they could hear him telling them to keep fighting. He was coming to help. He managed to get the ghouls' attention so the party could escape but he went down underneath their numbers. My player was actually pretty torn up about this. But wait, there's more!

A year or so later in real time it was game night for us. During this adventure they were attacked by several ghouls and a wight. Defeating the ghouls, the wight strode forward and said, "I told you I would love you forever and that's what I intend to do!" She had to kill him herself and it really, really messed with her head. She actually cried at the end of the adventure.

So yeah. That one.

Damn

I have an "oh duh" moment when I realized that tacticslion is not a haphazard collection of letters. Tact-icsl-ion have so much meaning.

@ Seth

Running the same way than the others would only ensure to be hunt down with them.

When exiting his room, seth can't avoid to notice that Piddleton and Jysson are making battle plans, those fools. The survivalist half elf pets his raven familiar in order to abstract himself from the danger outside and focus on deciding his next move

I should just leave, but these fools are marching to their demise...well, it's not my problem...but...uhm, I do have an invisibility spell if things goes wrong.

At the last time Seth decides to help as much as he can before running for safety.

From a window, I'll use minor illusion to create cover to myself and start sniping at the approaching enemies I think there is a magming and an Orog at range

Repelling blast vs Orog: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 81d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

=====================

@ Daratha

Holy Torm... - Daratha's first impulse is to tell them to just run away, but she perfectly understand the desire to defend their home even if that cost their lives.

Ok then, Take whatever weapon you can find. Our goal is to protect the lives of the townfolk and make sure they can get to a safe place. We'll not blindly march into enemy's swords, understood?. Now let's move!.

According to her statblock, she has access to a heavy crossbow. So, she give the crossbow to ne of her companions

Daratha (And whoever that goes with her) move north.

- I'll take Darathra
- Glad to see Ostoria being mentioned, good reading from the 2e giant book.

==========================

@ Seth

Damn F#%@!- The half-elf awakes scared and angry at his choice of coming here. Seths hurries to the window to see if he can pin-point the direction of the attack and, with some luck, discern a posible route of escape.

==============================

@ Lord protector Shendrel

Sword in hand, Darathra comes out shouting orders to the town militia(?). The objective of Darathra is to save as many live as possible, but rushing to combat only means a sure defeat. So, She first tries organize the town defense.

Seth was about to say that alive it's not a word that can be applied to Odan any longer..., but the half-elf prefered better to practice his diplomatic skills

No joke Ma'am. Sorry if this is not the best way to find out about a friend death, but there is no good way to communicate a news like this

-Character sheet- Warlock 5 | Hp: 39/39 | AC: 12 | Str +0, Dex +2, Con +3, Int + 2, Wis +3, Cha +6

Even with the bad manners and dubious pronunciation the elf here have a point. Should your scaly friend be judged by the action of a red wyrm, or all dwarvenkind for the actions of your gray cousins?

Persuation: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Just playing devil's advocate here because seth doesn't like unprofitable fights, not caring much about Z's lifespan. Though, d we have solid reasons to believe Z's have not participated in the giant attacks?

-Character sheet- Warlock 5 | Hp: 39/39 | AC: 12 | Str +0, Dex +2, Con +3, Int + 2, Wis +3, Cha +6

Seth is thinking in casting fly and look for safer more solid grounds. Though I guess I'll first give it a try

GM Infinity wrote:

I've heard that dragons are quite evil too, why don't you start with your scaly friend there? or only giants are to be subject to attacks based on blatant discrimination and not any proof of wrongdoing?

Persuation: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Seth most definitely doesn't want problems with the Silver Dragons r with Alustriel's Henchmen. Hopefully Jysson will solve the things peacefully (?).

I have the feeling walking would had been a better idea for us

Seth looks for a high place where he can snipe in case the dwarf are less than friendly.

Investigation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

So, The cloud are after something. That might explain Z's hospitality

If zephyros is not around I keep the document until I'm sure I can share it to the others without interference. If he is around, I'll leave it where it is until he is gone.

The attacks against the invisible stalker have advantage now that he is on faerie fire, not sure if that change something for the party attacks this turn.

Seth tries to finish the cult leader

Eldritch blast: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 111d10 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Eldritch blast 2nd roll from advantage?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 81d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

-Character sheet- Warlock 5 | Hp: 39/39 | AC: 12 | Str +0, Dex +2, Con +3, Int + 2, Wis +3, Cha +6

Eh, who is going to awake Big Z?...Ah, Gloariana, that save me trouble.

I find the hook for the adventure to be somewhat weak, but it's better if we all just go along with it

-Character sheet- Warlock 5 | Hp: 39/39 | AC: 12 | Str +0, Dex +2, Con +3, Int + 2, Wis +3, Cha +6

Seth twitches uncomfortably. The ground is too far below as to escape in case the giant change his mind and wants to eat all of them. Not to mention that the whole story of the warden of the north is crazy talking.

The Half-Elf is too uncomfortable to speak, he prefers to slyly look around for places to escape or to hide in case something gets wrong.

-Character sheet- Warlock 5 | Hp: 39/39 | AC: 12 | Str +0, Dex +2, Con +3, Int + 2, Wis +3, Cha +6

-Character sheet- Warlock 5 | Hp: 39/39 | AC: 12 | Str +0, Dex +2, Con +3, Int + 2, Wis +3, Cha +6

Ah yeah, an invitation from a powerful and evil wizard most likely - Seths follows Sohar.

@ I already chose my magic Item, GM. What I meant is that without the possibility of buying magic items there seems to be few opportunities to spend the money.

-Character sheet- Warlock 5 | Hp: 39/39 | AC: 12 | Str +0, Dex +2, Con +3, Int + 2, Wis +3, Cha +6

-Character sheet- Warlock 5 | Hp: 39/39 | AC: 12 | Str +0, Dex +2, Con +3, Int + 2, Wis +3, Cha +6
