About Ser Huxley Salduie

Background:

Huxley Orlovsky was the most promising sons of his household. Despite being the second male son he was considered his brothers better by most of the family. He was well learned, he had a natural knack for oratory and most excellent swordfighting skill. He enjoyed his life, it was easy.

But his brothers didn't like him so much. His elder brother, Orwell, considered him a threat to his position as heir, he was convinced everytime his brother bested him he was taking a step towards usurping what was rightfully his. His younger brother, Bradbury, resented him for taking most of the family attention and considered it should be him, being the most intelligent of the brothers, the one who should get all the plaudits.

On the day of Bradbury's sixteenth birthday Huxley decided to join the celebrations by announcing he would be enlisting in the Royal Brevoyan army for a 10 year period, he expected that by staying away from the family holdings his brothers would get the chance to shine on their own, but the way he announced it, taking Bradbury's day away from him and looking braver than Orwell just enraged his siblings even more.

Ten years went by and he barely visited his family holdings a couple of times during them. For his grandmother's funeral and for his father's later. After his father's burial Orwell approached him and asked him to swear loyalty to him as new lord of the house. Huxley rejected, not because he wasn't loyal to his brother, but because he thought he had to fulfill his duty towards Brevoy first.

When his period of service to the Dragonscale throne came to an end Huxley returned home willing to swear loyalty to Orwell and serve him as an officer in his guard. What he found shocked him.

The always honest and fair, although jealous and insecure, Orwell was little more than a puppet in the hands of his wife Julia. His mother had died several weeks before and yet he hadn't been told. And Bradbury seemed to be too close to Julia for Huxley liking.

He was invited to spend the night in the barracks since he wasn't part of the household anymore until he swore loyalty to his brother. He offered to swear loyalty inmediately but Bradbury insisted there were formalities to keep, and he should spend the night in vigil.

During that night Huxley listened to two guards joking about the fact Bradbury and Julia met every night in Orwell's very studio to cheat on him.

Enraged he walked through the manor and entered the studio eager to defend his older brother's honor. There he saw Orwell sitting upright, looking to the door with an empty stare in his eyes. When he came closer he saw several injuries and a bloody dagger under the chair. He tried to help his brother but he was long gone, and when he looked up at the door he saw Julia, with a smile in her face. She winked at him and started screaming and crying.

Several guards came, leaded by the two Huxley had overheard before. They saw Huxley, his hands covered in his brother blood and tried to detain him. He took his grandfather's sword from the wall and kept them at bay for a few seconds before realizing he had no chance to win and jumping through the window.

A whistle and his horse Spearhead came next to him, and the next minute he was no longer a military hero but a murderer on the run.

He still had friends in the army and one of them helped him create a new identity as a distant relative of him. Adopting the name Salduie for himself Huxley started his search for a place he could call home away from his treachorous brother
