"Hey, hey, we all want to do good, right? We shouldn't fight amongst ourselves!" She sighs. "All I hope is that you guys be careful and not get too caught up in fighting. Besides, there'll be much more to do than fight monsters! We'll probably have to provide a lot of aid to the area...do we have a fund for that?"
A female tengu wearing frayed robes and with talons and arms heavily bandaged enters the room. She looks at the half-orc and dwarf before plopping down in a chair. "Whew, for a second there I was afraid I was being lead into another trap. So, this is where the old Shadow Lodge crew hangs out?" She looks down at the table. "Torch was...y'know, I joined the Shadow Lodge not specifically to keep tabs on the 10 or anything, but really just to make sure other pathfinders were treated well. And when I found out the whole thing was a sham..." She shakes her head. "Aaaaanyway, Seimei Kakuriyo, at your service! I may belong to the Crusade now, but what's faction matter, anyway? I'm still gonna look out for Pathfinders and do my utmost to keep them safe, just as I promised myself I would. Also, I'm going to burn Torch to ashes then burn his ashes at some point, but that's for another time." She looks around the room, and especially at Ulrik's horse jerky. "So...should I have brought food? I mean I know it's more of a meeting but I figure it might have been nice. 'Sides, it would cheer the place up, don't you think? Should I get a cake? Ooh, ooh, maybe a cake in the shape of the Shadow Lodge insignia! But if more people come, it'll have to be a big cake..."
The tengu with bandaged talons salutes. "I'll do my best!" she says excitedly. "I promise, I'll do my utmost to tend to the wounds and sickness of those in need and will make sure my fellow pathfinders come back alive. Why, just yesterday, I brought a guy back to life! At first I was freaking out, but then I brought him back, and he was like 'sweet' and I was like 'cool' and the party was like 'nice' and the bad guys were like 'aww...'!" She thinks for a second, as if trying to recall something. "Oh yeah!" She draws a piece of paper out of her pocket and begins to read. "My younger bro also told me to tell you all that he'll 'do his best to keep anyone from being ripped in half by any demons.' He also adds 'try not to get yourself killed being an overzealous nutjob, alright? I'm serious, know your limit. Also, don't mind the fast zombies.'" She shrugs. "That's what he said!"

The tengu, upon hearing Torch's name, loses her normally cheerful demeanor and goes off on a livid squawking rant which, if you understand Tengu, you would quickly realize is about 35% profanities, 40% accusations of Torch being a lying, manipulative, conniving wretch who sent pathfinders to die for his own agenda under the lie of empowering pathfinders, and 25% graphic threats of immolation against the Grandmaster. After she calms down, she recomposes herself, adopting her usual cheerful demeanor. "So anyway, I'ma head over to Silver Crusade! They seem like nice guys."

Seimei sighs as well, her cheerful demeanor gone. "I know that. There's a lot of horrible things and people in this world. But, you gotta remember, you're only one person. I don't mean that in a bad way--each of us is just one person--but you can't take everything on yourself. Trust me, I've already learned that one the hard way..." She silent for a bit. "Look, all I'm saying is, you don't have to take on all the evil things in the world alone, ok? That's what you have teammates for. I don't know what troubles you've been through, but it's not solely your responsibility, and that means that you don't have to focus on it 24/7. Life is meant to be enjoyed; isn't that why it's worth protecting? And that extends to you too. The world won't collapse if you take a day off, or even an hour to enjoy things. You want to protect everything, right? You should at least take some time out to enjoy the things you're working so hard to defend." There's a silence for a bit, and then she returns to her normal mood. "Sorry, I got kinda heavy there for a second, didn't I? I've been working on trying not to do that." She clasps her talons together. "Anyway, I look forward to working with you, if I get the chance! We'd make great teammates, I'm sure, and return with some fun stories."
And more late replies! Gimme a second... "Hm..." she puts a talon to her beak, looking at the ceiling in contemplation for a second. "Can't say I've ever heard of anything like that--foreign laws and stuff are beyond me. Hey, I know! Maybe I could ask my mom if she knows of anyone who could--er, actually, nevermind, that may not work too well for you, now that I think about it." Spoiler:
You can sense motive, if ya like. She basically comes from a family and community of thieves and while it doesn't bother her, she's unsure how you guys would take it. I'm glad that you have fun with that." DesolateHarmony wrote: She turns to look to the Tengu as well, her own russet and black hair tied up and out of the way. "I don't consider any of my time 'free'. I must prepare myself, and I have challenges to meet. The Worldwound is where we are to go, for the Society and all the world too." This time, however, the tengu tilts her head and makes what you guess approximates a frown. "Are you sure? I mean, it's good that you're so dedicated to your work and all, but can't just spend every waking hour focusing on it, it's not healthy. You have to relax and enjoy life sometimes, or else you'll get super stressed and burnt out."
"Oh, just when you touched a sword? That's funny. I mean not 'haha' funny just find it odd. I mean for me, I got mine when I was younger and I accidentally set myself on fire." She describes the event with a sort of enthusiasm and fondness that one would reserve for recalling birthdays. "I mean, like, it wasn't the first time I'd caught fire, but those were like small little fires you could pat out; you know how sometimes people might singe their clothes a bit when they smoke? Stuff like that. That time, however, I really set myself on fire, it was like fwoosh!" She tosses her talons up for effect. "And there I was thinkin' I was gonna die, but then my burns stopped hurting--actually, this really good feeling washed over me, and before I knew it all my burns were healed. Well, except for these ones on my arms, but those didn't hurt anymore anyway. At first I was really confused, but then I learned later from some of the older tengu that I had channeled energy, and that a god or gods--I actually never really figured out who--had granted me powers, so I thought 'cool!' and I've been refining my healing abilities ever since. Plus, I can shoot fire from my talons; isn't that cool?" There is a moment of awkward silence before she remembers herself. "Oh, uh, sorry. I got carried away. I do that sometimes. Anyway, how about you, Ziggy? I bet you have an interesting story about when you awoke to your gift too."
Late reply is late. Also my character never gave her name but whatevs. The tengu laughs a bit. "No, no, it's fine. I think he was talking about my arms." She holds out her bandaged arms. "But he was spot on! These babies right here were a curse from the gods alright, and I'm sorry to say you probably can't heal them." When you inspect her bandaged arms you see that they have been very badly burnt for quite some time; it's a miracle that they're even functional at all. "But it's ok, they don't hurt too bad, and how I got these burns was actually pretty cool. Y'see--oh whoops, I got off topic, didn't I? Anyway nice to meet you two; please, call me Seimei, or just Sei. Less syllables. I've never been called Lady Kakuriyo before; it makes me feel all fancy, but it feels a bit awkward too, if that makes sense." Despite how burnt her talons are, she's still more than willing to shake your hands. "I just joined the Silver Crusade! I used to be with the shadow lodge because I wanted to keep pathfinders safe but... Anyway, I look forward to working with you guys! And wow, a lot of priest and paladins here!"
A female tengu, no older than 22, walks into the temple. The robes she's dressed in are old and frayed, and the ends of the sleeves seem to have burn marks on them. Her talons and arms are wrapped tightly in bandages. She looks around the room, then checks back to the scrap of paper she has, she nods, sure that she's found the right place. Seeing that a woman is performing--who knew temples scheduled live performances?--she instead sits down so she can listen to her song. Introductions can wait until after she was done, the tengu supposes |
