Lastly, I will make and present to you a goblin named Senior Vorpal Kickasso, or similar, who has 1 level in lots of classes.

You'll do who to the what, now?

I once had a new player who wanted to make a multiclass character at first level. I told her she'd have to wait until second level. When her character was around third level, I happened to look at her sheet and saw that her stats were all weird. When I asked her what she did, she said, "since you said that I couldn't take my second class until second level, I was bummed out, but I figured out a better way to do it."

She'd taken all of the numbers from class A and class B, and had been averaging them for each level.

Seems legit to me. My problem is I have to keep redoing the math when each new class comes out to remain every class possible. 1/17 of a caster level is a b*tch to figure out.
Good thing you didn't give up your ability to read for an extra feat.

What do I look like, Minmax? He's the other half of the glorious Kickaxxo team!

Incidentally, I call them "kwill-poth" usually, but I have done "klip-poth" too.

Um, the core classes are NOT the base classes and hybrid classes. I'm not saying they're not valid considerations, by any means, but if you're saying "I can do this core-only", then cavalier, bloodrager, slayer, and swashbuckler and the like are not in it.

Let's make it easier, if the original puzzle is too hard.

12 levels, PFS legal.

Based upon this alias's namesake

speaking of which:
(And, by the way, if anyone knows what that guy is going to continue the damn comic already, feel free to drop that in a spoiler tag
, I am inspired to create a character that never takes the same level twice.

I know in the comic he's got fractional levels of everything, but, hey, that's against the rules.

And yeah, technically he uses the core stuff, but now there's so many classes you can do this with classes to spare.

So how would you make a 1-20 build that never takes the same class twice?

Bonus points for no prestige classes.

Just take a level in every class ever! You'll be able to do everything!

Now, where have I seen a character with that idea? Hmm. Tip of my tongue....

One level of everything, just to be on the safe side. Or, fractions thereof per level. With a moustache'd goblin FTW!

(Hmm...honest question: all joking aside is such a build possible, let alone survivable? I know its not optimum.)

A LEVEL IN ALL CLASSES

(though they are still fractions)

Anyway THACO you might want to check out http://goblins.keenspot.com/ for us older gamers (and new) there are a few chuckles (start at the beginning and yes we are Thaco)

Thac0 is great, but Fumbles is easily the best! This is my totally unbiased opinion.

I have a rule lawyer in my game and it can get a little overwhelming when he spouts off rules left and right, but I tend to use him now as a reference book, since he tends to know where every rule is.

Well, if Rule Zero is that DM is the last authority, you must be able to throw down Rule Negative One (i.e. "Well Mr.Smarty Pants, that's officially erratta'd as of NOW) being the CEO.

Thank you, but it's "Señor Vorpal Kickass'o" now.

You should be 1/11th of every class. That should work.

This is a most excellent suggestion!!!

Someone please get this joke.
