About Samuel Hutchinson

Samuel Hutchinson does not exist. That is to say that he was not born with that name. His mother was a laundress turned street thief/beggar. She was once employed by a Taldane noble house but was forced to flee. He had to scrape from the bottom to survive. When he was 14, he discovered his power: he could invade people's minds and make them like him more. He used this get more than what he usually got. This gave him a very small taste of the finer things in life.

This habit continued until his mother died from a knife in the back. She was the victim of an internal coup in the Brotherhood of Silence, the largest Thieves' Guild in Avistan. Samuel used his power to convince them to let him run. He went to a new city and started doing street performances and con games to get by. Soon one of the people he charmed invited him join his acting troupe. He chose the name Samuel Hutchinson then to be his stage name. It sounded classier like the nobles he charmed in his youth.

As an actor, he only did well with villain parts and had trouble with the part where they lose. He was frankly too much of a diva and hated having to lose at the end of every play. He decided to bounce around troupes. Samuel always left on good terms and could enter a new troupe very easily.

Samuel wants more out of life. He wants to be in control of something. He wants wealth and comfort and all the things that were denied him. Samuel will do absolutely anything to avoid being where he was. His primary motivation is to be a noble. No act is too cruel in the name of this goal.

He needs time to plan, more power to break the wills of those involved, and, of course, a lot of gold. He is patient and willing to work with allies who don't interfere with his goal. It'd be nice to have friends who aren't forced.

The great secret of his life is that his father was the head of the house and Samuel is his bastard. The house reverted to the family of Lady Denning, the woman who would have been his stepmother. Sam's mother was able to run away with her child and was able to escape because she was deemed too inconsequential. Samuel is now the sole heir to his house but he wouldn't be able to get any land or power even if his title were recognized.

The official story is that the House Aberforth was massacred by an anti-noble revolutionary group from nearby Galt. The real story is that Lady Denning's family orchestrated the plot to both steal the land and punish their wayward daughter for marrying for love rather than pure political gain. Lord Aberforth was only a a Viscount whereas Lord Denning is a Marquess who intended to marry his daughter to a Duke related to Grand Prince Stavian himself.

Physical Description: A tall, handsome man with well-defined features and a dancer's grace.

Samuel has always been blessed with good features even when he was young. He is one of those disgusting people who never had an awkward phase. He's always been as good looking at every stage of his development.

His general expression is one of haughtiness. He is supremely confident in who he is and where he is going. Most find this grating and he knows when to ratchet it down.

His prized feature are his bright green eyes which help him stand out without being too far out of the norm. Many have lost themselves in his eyes.

Personality: Samuel is bright, charismatic, extroverted, and well-mannered. He is also vain, controlling, self-loathing, misanthropic, and has an enormous superiority complex. In short, he is an a++&%*+.

As an actor, he enjoys being the center of attention. He likes to ham it up even when not on stage. This is usually a way of masking his insecurities or of hiding in plain sight.

He dreams of being in control of something - anything. He wants to be a mastermind behind a a great scheme like all the classic villains.
