Wow what a relief! GM I was worried about you there for a minute. I'm still here and would also like to continue, though it's going to be a busy few weeks.
Farewell for now Audria. We wish you the best! I've enjoyed the campaign, over all, and think Zed has done a good job presenting an evocative setting. I"m also glad to have been able to share in this experience with the femmes fatales. So it's sad to see the game fading, though it is the way things go.
"Our information leads us straight back to the circus where, it seems, the heart-stopping thrills are aptly named."
Salom can't shake the feeling they've been ratted out. He glances up and around nervously. "Oh, look at the time! It is getting rather late, isn't it, dear hearts? Mayhaps we can continue this conversation another time."
"You're a Keening, as far as I can tell," Salom offers politely from behind the situation. "Is there a way to prevent the effects of this gift?" he asks the Scathel.
"If so, I fear it's on us!" Salom releases Thea into the air. She flutters down the alley after the Scathel vermin, congesting it with the caustic fumes from her exhaust pipes. Salom draws the long, sharp spear he's been saving for just such an occasion, and moves forward closer to Moira.
Salom stands protectively near Audria and Alexis, hoping Moira knows what she's up to negotiating in a dark alley. "The Troth?"
Salom silently laments letting his pipe tobacco become wet, but otherwise pays attention to the conversation.
Salom frowns as Moira disappears into the alley, moving in that direction behind Audria.
"She'll be the death of us," Salom says with a gleam in his eye as his gaze follows Moira. "The question is, will she save us first?"
"I'm not as stupid as this outlandish overcoat suggests!" Salom mutters. "Shiv me once, shame on me. But twice, well! This is surely a trap."
Salom holds Thea by the foot as she hovers above him like an absurd balloon. He sighs. "I'm near tired to death of being paranoid. If someone wants to put a dagger to our throats, perhaps it's time to let them?" He laughs gaily at Moira's jest. "Maybe they'd be interested in helping us drum up business."

"The second one needs more blush," Salom offers, looking over Audria's shoulder. "Careful or you'll make the poor girl look anemic.
Salom, seated on the edge of the bed with Thea on his lap, nods in agreement with Audria. This is the first solid lead they've found on Uriah. He tenses, listening to the exchange between Ammos and Rigo.
"It's not like a Dandelion to keep the shadows," Salom adds dreamily over Moira's beat, tugging Thea by the collar of her harlequin outfit to keep her from chasing the cat. "Come now, don't be shy. We're all friends."

I wasn't actually proposing a new nickname for audria. I think firebug works better than fire marshal, anyway.
"Sorry? What's that mister? Bodies? Why do you say that? ...oh, you mean bums on seats? Yes that's right... more bums on seats!!!" "Naturally," Salom says evenly, cognizant of the ambiguity in his remark but determined not to resolve it himself. "We want the tent packed so tight it'll give the fire marshal a fit." He glances at Audria.
Salom tucks the packet into his breast pocket, electing to save it for a time it is truly needed. For now, the smell of breakfast is sufficient. "Thank you." Salom replies with a small smile. While he might have drawn a modicum of interest with Thea, it had not escaped his notice that the crowd had been less than enthused with his comedia. If this farce was to continue, perhaps he would need to re-think his act. Then again, Audria is right. No one had called the Watch on him. "Cheer up, my dear," he offers with a mouthful of jammed toast. "Simply more bodies in the audience! That's what we're after, isn't it? Bodies!"

"I concur. The smell of licorice has soured my stomach, and the notion of breaking fast right now is about as tempting as a ghoul harlot." He looks at the rather steep climb ahead of them and sighs. "Let's see what revelations tomorrow shall bring."

"That's the spirit, Love!" Salom is almost giddy as he, Thea, Audria, and Moira take to the filthy street, lured by yet another potentially self-destructive lead.

Salom chews on the last of the boiled peanuts in his pocket. "He isn't the only one," he adds solemnly. "So interesting! I'll swing by the pig races sometime soon, but tonight I gotta run to the Liquorice. Coming Audria, Salom?" "I'll cancel my audience with the Queen," he quips, gathering up the shells of his peanuts and depositing them in the breast pocket of his doublet. "At this rate, my employment with the Circus Macabre is far from guaranteed. And Candy Spine does sound enticing! What do you say, Audria?"
Salom takes the ring to perform even more of his deadpan style of comedy. "...and the barkeep answers, "Nay, three penguins in a smoking jacket!" Perhaps Moira's soaring soprano and Audria's strings overwhelm his execution, for no one applauds.
"I told her to keep the key in E flat, but she has a tendency to go a little sharp," Salom offers cheerfully as he approaches with Thea on his shoulder. She holds a small sack of copper bits offered by the crowd, repeatedly sorting them, putting them back in the bag, then going over them again. "It appears we've been misinformed. Our sincerest regrets, officers. We shan't tarry any longer, for we are also expected back at the Circus for the night's entertainment. Will you be in attendance this evening?"
Salom and Thea station themselves on a corner with a view of Audria. He helps Thea out of her ostentatious mummer's outfit in order to better showcase her construction. She beats her wings and takes to the air, her engine popping and a bit of black smoke billowing from her exhausts. She bobs to and fro near him, ever mindful of strangers, occasionally spinning around in the air or snatching the hat off a passing tourist, only to throw it back from a safe distance. Salom smiles and rattles a few copper in a can then attempts to impress the crowds entering Festival: "Ladies and gentlesirs! Boys and Girls! Children of all ages! WELCOME to the one-hundred-and-thirty-fourth edition of the Circus Macabre! The one! The only! The GRRRReatest show on earth! You'll be Astounded! Confounded! Bewildered and Bewitched! For tonight's events..."
Salom grins. In this urban menagerie of walking whispers, where ferae naturae is wed to the ferae industrialis with such inexplicable consequence, his is one of the most remarkable of peculiarities. "Thea can draw a crowd," he replies proudly. "I wager that if we set up on a corner with a painted banner of the Circus's identity and allow her to engage the audience, we'll have half the district eager to see what other delights are on the menu."
"Reading." Salom replies dryly, suddenly missing his toys and gadgets. "Or, if you need a wagon wheel repaired, I'm a fair hand with a mallet and spike."
Salom arrives with Thea at the circus, his dark overcoat and goose-white stockings already muted by the tainted morning air of Castorhage. "What a dreadful day for a circus," he comments needlessly, for this day is as dreadful as any other, for the living and deceased.
Sorry guys I've been putting out fires at work, I hope to return to "normal" tomorrow.
Salom gains: +3 hp, +1 BAB, 3 skill ranks (Perception, Survival, and Heal), and 1 background skill rank (Linguistics) Looks like Thea doesn't progress until we actually hit level 2, since she's considered a "Class Feature".
I think slayer is a good fit for Rigo, and my isn't it deadly. Also a feline warhound is just too funny to pass up. I will select HP and BAB (and probably for Thea too, I'll have to check), and will update my stats tonight or tomorrow.
Salom comes bouncing by. "The mortomata! Fascinating. Stormy weather ahead, says he, but I suppose we knew that, didn't we? It appears there is no category for 'usurping an ghoulish girl of the night'." Where? Salom mouths to Rigo. He really ought to practice that cat's language.
I am back! And healthy (knock on wood). I have some reading to do to catch up in game in seems. I'm also okay with staggered advancement. There's no downside to it, really.

"Um, Moira? Snap out of it!" Salom lifts his spear over his head, driving the tip of it down in a vicious arc aimed at the stillborn heart of the ghoulish bride devouring his companion.
Thea flies over and around, landing opposite the betrothed, though her metal teeth fail to find purchase in the creature's flesh.
To all of my games: I've come down with something that might or might not be serious. I don't know yet, but I might even need surgery. I'll try to keep you all updated as I learn more. Please forgive any unannounced absences from the game in the coming days.
"Yes, I suppose it does suppress the appetite to know that the ham biscuit I'm craving might have been someone's aunt..." Salom and Thea see no more than the others...
Salom's joints begin to creak and slow, though a sudden craving for ham biscuit gives him the will to overcome something so trivial as swine flu and necrotic paralysis. Hefting his spear, he stabs triumphantly as Thea hisses and snaps at the pig from between his knees.
It sounds like your group wasn't compatible on a very basic level, and I'm shocked the game went on as long as it did. You're probably much better off without this game, TBH. Maybe you should consider running a solo game for your best friend? I've read that those can be fun.
Salom slithers down the rope to join the others. Thea flits down, slow and sailing, on her tawny orange wings. Once she lands, Salom kneels down, turning her around. Frowning, he withdraws a small oil can from his satchel, applying a few squirts to the joints of her wings.
Salom is barely keeping Thea in one piece. I mean, the only way to heal her is to use my daily extracts for CLW. Give me a few levels and we'll talk!
"And where did they go? Did she state an address or location? In which direction did they flee?"
Salom scoops Thea up with one arm and she assumes her customary position over his shoulders. Then he takes off with the others in search of a safe house. As if such a thing exists in the Blight.
Nuts and bolts fall from Thea and scatter through the filth as the fight continues...
The darkness is no use, thanks to Thea's ability to see through it. The grizzly details curl Salom's lip but, he supposes, they're better than the hangman's noose. Thea is airborn in an instant, sputtering through the air, the smell of burnt oil following in her wake (he would need to rework her adiabatic mechanics). Salom rushes forward, spear in hand, and reaches the harlot as Thea descends from above. His spearhead thrusts out, but the ghoul has seen him coming, and jerks back... ...into Thea, whose metallic fangs snap down into the creature's shoulder and give it a taste of its own medicament. "Is this the fabled Grace?" he asks, his cigarette still hanging from his lip. "A pleasure."
