Lets get real for a moment here. Everything ends.
I disagree. Everything changes. Nothing has ever ended.

I disagree. Matter that is sucked into a Black Hole is utterly destroyed and not simpled changed, so some things do end.

Derek noted that there was a plane of Machinery and Perfect Law called Mechanus.

The primary denizens of Mechanus were being composed partly of flesh, and partly of pure law, and were called the Axiomites.

Derek knew the Age of Gods was ending and gradually severed the ties between his realm and the world.
3 months later, the southern continent seemed to lift of the ground and shed its earthy covering,

revealing itself to be a massive Voidfaring vessel, powered by 5 large jets of strange purple energy. Once in deep space, Derek set

the ships' Wormhole generators to Mechanus' Cosmic frequency and entered the plane.
Once there he discovered that the Axiomites were warring against a race known as the Proteans, a serpentine race of chaos.

To aid them, Derek showed them how to build sentient machines, called Inevitables, for the Inevitable defeat of the Proteans.

Noting the troubles on the world, he also had the Axiomites build another type of Inevitable, which he called Marut, meaning "Final Death" in the language of his people.
He sent 1000 of these "Maruts" to the World of Creation to vanquish the undead incursions.
Derek kept surveillance on the World to know what other problems might occur, and prepared the Axiomites for new schematics by constantly having them create and maintain the Inevitables, In case he might need them to create more.

Editing that awfl format. Ugh.

Sagen made sure not to touch the Box. He had no idea what would happen if he did. However, accidents happen. He had studied the Box all night, so Sagen fell asleep next to it. She-Lia saw him lying next to the Box, so she grew frustated and yelled at him.

"What," Sagen began to say as he woke up and his right hand briefly touched the Box. He screamed in pain and so did She-Lia. The codes that were covering the Box suddenly covered Sagen. His mind was flooded with images from another plane of existance.

She-Lia screamed and ran to him, but Sagen said, "NO, DO NOT TOUCH ME!"

In his mind he saw the plane of Mechanus and the war between the Axiomites and Proteanse and the great ship at the South Pole. Sagen finally understood and he was able to transfer the Codes back to the Box; his skin was normal again.

"I finally understand, She-Lia! I know what the Box is and where its from! By the Gods its amazing and scary and..."

He fainted.

Sagen was working hard on trying to figure out the box was. She-Lia was on level one of the tower feeding the horses. He noticed that it had strange markings on it. He knew it wasn't magical or divine in nature, but there were other powers. As he studied long into the night and morning, but made an assumption that the marking on the Box may be numerical!

It consisted of lines and patterns he had never seen before, and he wrote them down on a scroll. They looked like this:

void su_co(int x1,int y1,int x2,int y2,int xmin,int ymin,int xmax,int ymax)line(320+x1,240-y1,320+x2,240-y2);void midpt(int x1,int y1,int x2,int y2,int xmin,int ymin,int xmax,int ymax)if(!(y1>ymax || y1<ymin || x1>xmax || x1<xmin) && (x3 || y3)!=0.1)...

Whenever Sagen thought he saw a pattern, it changed! The markings on the Box were changing, and the changing was becoming more frequent. He made another assumption that the Box was trying to tell him something, but what was it?

The Paladins were happy to escort Sagen out of Lighton to one of the watch towers 2 leagues away. That was where the artifact was being stored. She-Lia rode next to him reluctantly, but Merlyn had ordered her to assist and protect him.

When they arrived at the small tower Sagen insisted on seeing the artifact. It was at the top level of the seven level tower. As Merlyn said it looked like a large, metallic box with strange runs etched into it. Sagen had studied every language on Beriya, that he knew of, but he had never seen this.

She-Lia was next to him and she looked irritated.
"Do you know what it is?" She asked.

"No, not yet. Merlyn was right, this box isn't magical or divine. Its something unknown. We have a lot of work to do."

"I am useless here, as you know. Why did you request that I assist you?"

"Well...I thought you were the most qualified..."

"I am not stupid, Sir Sagen. I know why you requested me. I should let you know now that I have taken a vow to the Order of Palas and I have time for nothing else in my life. Is that clear?"

"Yes. Crystal clear. Oh well, as long as you are here can you have your Paladins bring up my supplies? Let's get this over with as quickly as possible. You are still assisting me?"

"Yes...sir," she said in anger. When she left Sagen could allow himself to feel scared. He had no idea what that thing was and that scared the Hells out of him. Plus, the metallic box was humming...

The very beautiful, blonde Paladin She-Lia led Sagen through Lighton to the Cathedral of Palas, which was named for him after his death. It was within sight of the Labyrinth of Lights, a massive maze that Sagen has never been allowed into.

Sagen was taken to Patriatch Merlyn's office, and She-Lia left him without saying a word. He heard a voice say, "Come in!"

He opened the door and saw Merlyn for the first time. Sagen was shocked to see him; he looked like a very old and tired wizard, not the holiest man in the world. Merlyn was sitting behind a cluttered desk covered with books. Sagen had written most of them.

"Come in and have a seat," Merlyn said. "Do you know why you are here?"

"No I don't. Your Paladin wasn't specific"

"I have been reading some of your books. I find them to be very boring and arrogant in style."

"I am sorry you feel that way. I started reading when I was two, and most of the books I found here were religious in nature, so I felt compelled to write my own since I was 10."

"You don't like religious books? You do know you live in a land run by religion."

"Yes, I know, but still that doesn't mean we can't be open to different points of view."

"I disagree! I could throw you into the dungeon for some of your writings, and there are some in Lighton who want you banished! However, right now I need your help. My Paladins found an artifact in the Harsh Hills. So far it defies description. I personally have used both magic and I miracles to try to find out what it is, but I have failed. So that leaves you."

"What do you want me to do?"

"I want you to take a look at it, and use your mind to find out what it is. Find out if its dangerous. I have it located in a tower outside of Lighton. My Paladins will assist you. Take whatever you need with you, and take all of the time you need."

"Of course, Patriarch, I will do the best I can. Will She-Lia be assisting me?"

"Yes, if you promise to leave Lighton now."

"Excellent! I will leave at once! I just need to take a few things. What does the artifact look like?"

"It looks like a metallic box with unreadable runes craved into it," Merlyn said.

Sagen, who had always loved knowledge more than anything else, looked up at the sky from his small home in Lighton. He felt generally safe here.

He had studied the Sun, stars, and the Moons. He had designed his own telescope, right after he made his own glasses.

Sagen had learned the names of the Moons while a child. The first moon, gray in color, is called Terequie; the second moon, dark in color, is called Deemelyun; and the third moon, light in color, is Lepharmon.

He noted that the grayish moon Terequie revolved around the world...there was a knock on his door!

He opened the door, and a paladin named She-Lia (a very beautiful blonde one at that) gave Sagen a piece of paper.

"You are hereby ordered to go to the Cathedral of Stars to see Patriarch Merlyn at once," she said. "I am here to escort you."

"You can escort me anywhere. Let's go!" Sage said. He followed her very closely...
