You continue to slowly make your way though the stacks, looking left, right, high, and low for any sign the Tremere elder when both Edwin and Ollie catch a glint of faint red light seeping from beneath a wall in the back of the room.
Approaching the light it seems obvious to you that there is something beyond the wall, but there is no obvious way of getting to what ever lies beyond.
What would you like to do?
Dr. Baker & Savanna:
Anita leads you to an apartment at the end of the hall. Entering, she gestures for both of you to sit.
"Alright..." she says with a calm unnatural to those of her clan. "Color me intrigued. What do I get out of this arrangement beyond risking my neck with a Prince who's just dying to make a statement?"
A few seconds pass before she adds, "What sort of deal has Evelyn made with this Maxwell? I've heard the name before, but it's before my time. Are you even sure he is who he says he is?"
Disaster averted by Ollie's quick hands and K's guidance, you head down to the basement level of the library. Arriving you see rows and rows of books and begin to slowly move through the stacks.
Please give me a Perception + Alertness (Diff 8) roll (Edwin Diff 7 due to active Auspex)
Dr. Baker & Savanna:
Dr. Baker - Give me an Intelligence + Politics roll followed by a Charisma + Expression roll.
Anita looks down the flight of stairs at you, silently listening as Matthew pleads his case for the return of Maxwell. Once Dr. Baker is done, what seems like an eternity of silence goes by, although in reality it is a matter of moments, before the Brujah turns on her heel, gesturing for the two of you to follow her.
In the V20 Book, here's what they have to say about regaining Willpower:
Regaining Willpower:
Generally, a character’s Willpower pool may be replenished
whenever the character fulfills a goal or has
an opportunity to restore her self-confidence. Ultimately,
specific instances of Willpower restoration are
up to the Storyteller. For this reason, Storytellers are
advised to be prudent in allowing characters to regain
Willpower; it is a powerful and versatile Trait, and permitting
players to rely on it too much strips much of
the challenge from a story.
1) Characters’ Willpower pools replenish fully at the
end of a given story (and that’s story, not session). The
Storyteller may restrict this by requiring that the characters
achieve (or partially achieve) a goal or otherwise
boost their self-esteem. For example, if the characters
didn’t destroy a powerful and corrupt elder but did
manage to obstruct his immediate plans, allow them to
replenish their Willpower pools.
2) (Storyteller’s Option) Characters regain one Willpower
point each night when they first rise. This is
easy on the bookkeeping, and allows a steady stream
of Willpower replenishment (not to mention the fact
that players are already writing on that part of the
character sheet when they mark off their nightly blood
consumption).
3) (Storyteller’s Option) If a character attains some
extraordinary goal or fulfills an outstanding objective,
the Storyteller may reward her with a point of Willpower.
For example, if a character manages to deter
a team of vampire-hunters from her sire’s haven, the
Storyteller may award a Willpower point to that character.
4) (Storyteller’s Option) If a character behaves in a
manner that fulfills her Nature Archetype, the Storyteller
may reward the character with one to three Willpower
points (as stated in the Archetype descriptions).
For example, if a Rebel character rabidly opposes a
powerful elder, and that elder is later revealed to be
a Sabbat spy, that character may be given a point of
Willpower.
As you see most of the ways are Storyteller's option, and as powerful as Willpower is (i.e. automatic success), I am using Options 1, 3, & 4, which is a long drawn out way to say that it is limited (but not just to fulfilling your Nature) and not regained on a nightly basis.
The way Willpower is handled is one of the few things that I prefer about V5 to the previous editions. Rather than being an automatic success, the expenditure of Willpower allows you to re-roll up to 3 (non-hunger) dice, so it certainly increases one's chance at success, it doesn't guarantee it. That being said, with Willpower not being as powerfull in V5 it is replenished on nightly basis in that version of the game.
Edwin hands the phone over to Ollie, as K tries to guide Ollie through disarming of the alarm system.
"Okay, take the cover off of the keypad...right, got it. You should see four wires leading into the body of the keypad..." K begins.
A couple of harrowing moments later, the system seems to be deactivated...completely destroyed, but deactivated.
"Good job, Ollie!" K says on the other end of the line.
Didn't even need to spend that willpower with that roll. I had set the difficulty to 9 with 2 successes required. Well done.
Dr. Baker & Savanna:
The pair of Malkavians enter the building. Looking left and right you see a number of closed doors at the end of the hall is a stairwell heading up to the second floor.
Continuing onward you begin to ascend the stairs. When you turn at the mid-flight landing, you look up to the entrance to the second floor to see a Caucasian female of moderate size. She stands 5’8” tall, and weighs 125 pounds. She has auburn hair, shaved down on the left side of her head. She's dressed in a fashion that would be quite common for the mid-1980's punk scene.
"Alright, you're here. Let's hear your spiel..." the woman says.
Ollie - with 1 dot in Larceny, I would allow you to attempt a Larceny + Intelligence roll to disable the system, but I will warn the difficulty will be relatively high.
After dialing the thin-blood, moments later K answers. "Hey boss-man, what's up?"
Edwin begins spinning his tale about a meeting and needing the keys to the library. The poor librarian is just about to tell him what he could do with his meeting when the Domination takes hold.
"Sure...here Clyde." the man says handing over the keys. "You can drop 'em off at 345 West Madison...apartment 21..." he continues, in kind of droning manner.
With the keys handed over, the librarian head off, presumably towards home.
A few moments later, the door is unlocked and you are inside.
What would you like to do?
Dr. Baker & Savanna:
You approach the gate, open it, and move to the front door of the building. Trying the door, you find it is locked. Next to the door is a a keypad and and what appears to be an intercom.
"Very well, sir." Ladislav responds, driving off after dropping you off.
As you approach the library you see a number of people leaving the building, with the last seemingly locking up for the night. It does not seem like they are paying much attention to the three of you.
Edwin - with your heightened senses, you hear the conversation as it was between the people, nothing more than the "see you tomorrow" type commentary not uncommon to the end of the workday.
What would you like to do?
Dr. Baker:
Perfectly reasonable on management of the herd.
You call for an Uber, and moments later you are in a car heading for Altgeld Gardens. The ride is uneventful, almost dreadfully so, given the utter banality of your driver. Twenty-five minutes later, you find yourself being dropped off at Altgeld Gardens, which is not in a particularly great part of the city - so much so you are slightly relieved to see Savanna arrive.
Savanna:
Running late, having had to go back into your home no fewer than three times to take the bunny slippers off your feet. How in the Hell they kept appearing on your feet is something only Malkav himself would know. You get downstairs to find your ride waiting for you.
"Glad you made it, I was about to take off thinking you were a no-show." Safely in the car, you ride along for a bit longer than a half an hour before arriving at Altgeld Gardens. Looking around you see that you are not in a particularly great part of the city. Fortunately, as your car pulls up, you see a familiar face - Dr. Baker.
Dr. Baker & Savanna:
Relieved to see a friendly - well familiar at least - face you stand together on the sidewalk outside of the fence than surrounds Altgeld Gardens.
No roll needed. Just make note of how much blood you have taken as that particular herd member may be out of commission for a few days.
Having conducted a brief session with one of your patients, you set off to meet up with Anita Wainwright.
How do you plan to get to the meeting?
Edwin & Ollie:
Climbing into the car, you instruct Ladislav to drive to the Donnelly and Lee Library on the Lake Forest College campus for your meeting with Nicolai. Critias had mentioned an unspecified price that Nicolai would extract for the meeting, would that only be for Edwin, or would the Elder expect a payment from Ollie too?
The drive takes a bit over half and hour, but you arrive at the Donnelly and Lee Library. Ladislav asks, "Should I await your return here sir, or will you reach out when you would like a pick up?"
Night Over. Everyone subtract one blood from your bloodpools to raise the next night.
You each awake in your havens ready for the night's events.
I believe the game plan was for Edwin and Ollie to go meet with Nicolai, Dr. Baker and Savanna to meet with Anita Wainwright, and Jack and Alexander to look into the whereabouts of Calliope. Is that correct?
It's difficult to get a read on the overall health of those you approach, between the typical unkempt and unwashed nature of those that find themselves living on the streets. Trying to get a better read, you approach one man, offering him five dollar bill.
"Thank you, brother." the man says clasping you on the shoulder with a strength that you would not have assumed from the middle aged man's stature. Taking a closer look at the man, beneath the thick beard and grime, you see a number of pock marks and blemishes on his skin.
You don't have enough time to learn one tonight, but you can certainly start on one. For game mechanics, lets say you need to study 6 hours per level of the ritual intended.
Ollie & Buttons:
You stroll around the immediate neighborhood, either feigning or truly being casual. This time of night, the crowds of people are a bit more scarce, but the homeless contingent is, if not increased in size, certainly more noticeable. The odd thing is, rather than skittish or full of bravado as some of the unhoused can be, here they all almost seem content. The question is why?
Anything else you'd like to do?
After wrapping up what little bit I've got with Ollie here, we'll move on to the next night.
After a bit of discussion around who was going where, you have come to the consensus that Edwin and Ollie would go to meet the elusive Tremere, Nicolai while Savanna and Dr. Baker journey to meet with the Anarch, Anita Wainwright.
Jack looks back and forth between to the two sets and asks, "Either of you think you might need a bit of muscle?" A whispery, gravely voice - a voice that could only belong to Alexander - responds. "I do not think that these are those kind of meetings."
It is roughly midnight after these discussions. Any other activities anyone wants to take of this night?
Savanna - Let's say you started the night at 8 blood and took two from your target.
Sated by drinking from your target, your head swims with the euphoria of feeding and what is now obviously a very large amount of alcohol within your victim's bloodstream. Your victim staggers back and slumps down along one of the wall, trying his best not to be stepped on by other club-goers, while he tries to gather his senses - fighting off the effects of entirely too much alcohol and bloodloss.
I assume you are off to the Scientology building now? If so, please describe your arrival in your next post.
It takes you a bit longer to draw the attention you seek, but draw you do none-the-less. Eventually a young man, obviously inebriated, possibly high on something approaches you. A few moments later you take him to a darker corner of the dance floor and slake your thirst.
How much do you wish to take from him? You can take as much as 3 blood without truly harming the victim. As a side note, it appears your bloodpool is full on your sheet. I would assume you are at best 9/10 as you have not fed this night yet and needed to mark off one blood to awaken tonight.
Following your feeding, you head off to the Scientology center.
Feel free to post about your arrival at the building in your next post.
Hoping out of your Uber a block or two away from the Scientology center you duck into a club. The music blares with a pulsing bass that reverberates through your chest. It doesn't take long to spot a likely target.
We handle this one of two ways, we can play out the hunt or we can do this mechanically. If you choose the mechanical route, roll EITHER Appearance + Performance if you are trying lure your prey visually OR Charisma + Subterfuge if you are trying to sweet-talk your would be prey.
@Dr. Baker - While you have reached out to Joey Hart, you have received no response as of yet.
Edwin calls out for the erstwhile Nosferatu, but receives no response. Apparently Alexander is out of the building researching something or another as he is want to do.
No roll necessary. Princes of Chicago - Maxwell was the first as Fort Dearborn became Chicago, then Lodin, followed by a rulership by the Primogen, before Kevin Jackson rose to the throne. Now if there was a Lord or Prince of the region before it was Chicago...that's another story...
@Savanna - Where is you would like to try and hunt and for what sort of prey?
"I saw him with my own eyes." Jack says a bit shook, definitely not a state you are used to seeing the Ventrue bruiser in.
"After the old man said that Capone wasn't dead, I did a little research looking into where Scarface's haunts were when he could still look at the sun without bursting into flame...turns out he went back to basics. He ran his bootlegging business out of Cicero, and Cicero is where I saw him. Don't get me wrong, I'm curious...but I didn't approach him...not really sure if I should or even want to." Jack says, clearly conflicted.
As Savanna takes her leave of the obviously mentally off janitor, her phone rings. Looking down at the caller ID, it is Dr. Baker. I would seem that the night's work is not yet complete.
Dr. Baker and Savanna, take it away with the conversation, assuming of course that Savanna answers the phone.
Edwin, Ollie, and Dr. Baker
Jack and Edwin head off to another room within the facility, leaving Ollie and Dr. Baker alone in the room - unless of course, Alexander was skulking around the room, invisible, as he is want to do.
Edwin & Jack:
Jack leans up against the wall, forgoing taking a seat on the floor. "It was something the old guy said when we were there...he implied that Capone was still among the unliving...as it turns out, he is. He's on the South Side." Jack says. "I'm not real sure what that means for us or Jackson. Jackson claims he destroyed Capone, but he obviously didn't any thoughts on that, Edwin?"
"Maybe when there aren't so many people here that I don't really know, it's kind of a personal matter." Jack responds, before offering an uncharacteristically sheepish, "No offense." to Dr. Baker and Ollie.
Jack takes the offered hand and provides a firm handshake. "good to know you, Doctor." Jack says in return to Matthew's greeting.
Turning his attention back to Edwin, "Calliope is gone?" Jack asks. "Probably that f+*&ing hot-head of a Sire of hers...I swear if he's done anything to hurt her..." he adds, leaving the potentially incriminating details of revenge unsaid.
"Sorry about the thing at the University, Edwin. Something that was said by the old man the last time we were there stuck in my craw a bit and I had to do a bit of looking on my own."
Dr. Baker and Edwin continue their conversation while entering the Scientology center, once inside they see Ollie and Jack. Likewise Ollie and Jack see the pair entering the building.
"Edwin." Jack says coolly with nod toward the Tremere.
Ladislav contemplates the question a few moments while driving back toward the Scientology building, "I do not know, sir." he says, "Please correct me if I am misspeaking, but has it not been mentioned that her Sire is a rather volatile sort?" As you arrive back at the Scientology Center, you see Dr. Baker getting out of a car.
Ollie:
The large man looks down at his phone, nods and looks back to you. "Apologies. Never can be too careful." he says. "I'm Jack. Good to meet you. Edwin's on his way, and he's not my boss by the way."
Dr. Baker:
Your ride arrives and with little more than some idle, rather boring conversation, you arrive at the Scientology center without incident. Getting out of your car, you see Edwin and his servitor ghoul arriving in another car.
Savanna:
"Oh, that's good to hear." the man says, "I'm Jacob, by the way and this is Moppy." he say gesturing to his mop. "If there's anything else I can help with, just let me know."
"Next week this same time would be fine, young Edwin." the elder says, shooing you out the door as he returns to his books.
Ladislav returns the message promptly. Right away, sir.
While waiting for your driver to arrive, you send out a group text, surprisingly, you get a response from Jack. Hey Edwin. Sorry about the silence. Got a question, who the f%$# is this guy with the dog that's in our place?
Ollie:
"Oh, you're a friend of Edwin?" he questions, as he looks as if he's ready to square up and fight you. Just before he's ready to lunge at you, his phone chimes. He steps back and pulls the phone from his pocket.
"How convenient, there's the man himself. Let's just see if your story checks out." he says, typing a message into the phone.
Dr. Baker:
The voice on the other end says something muffled to someone in the room with him. A few moments later another voice, this one distinctly female, educated, and with the faint remnants of street left in the tone speaks.
"Dr. Baker, because you mention a mutual acquaintance from Gary, I suppose I can meet with you tomorrow night. Are you familiar with the Mount Greenwood neighborhood? If you want to talk, meet me at the Mount Greenwood Park Fieldhouse tomorrow night at nine."
Savanna:
You exit Bridger's office and the janitor is leaning against the wall seemingly waiting for you. "Everything go alright?' he asks.
The ancient smiles. "Information is the greatest commodity we can have, young Edwin. Gaining all you can and making the decisions based on that information that you can 'live' with...one decision at a time...each decision definitive and resolute."
"Is there anything else for tonight, Edwin?"
Dr. Baker:
The phone rings and rings and just as you are about to give up, there is an answer. "Hello?" the voice asks. The voice is that of a young, and you assume African American man.
Ollie:
You return to the Scientology building to find it occupied by a very large, square-jawed man. Seeing you enter the building he quickly gets to his feet and asks, "Who the f#~$ are you?"
Savanna:
"Fair enough. I'll come up with a few options in different parts of town and we'll go from there. I'll send you the specs in a few days and we can set up a meeting from there." Bridger says.
"If there is nothing else..." he says, gesturing toward the door to the office.
Evelyn provides you with number to reach Anita at. "Is there anything else, Dr. Baker?" the self-styled Baron of Gary asks.
If there isn't anything else, I trust you will be calling Anita?
Savanna:
"Of course. Leave your specifications with me and I will match those against the various properties within the city that I have available. Is there a particular region of the city you would prefer this building be in?" Bridger says with a smile.
Ollie:
Be careful out there... the voice says as you leave.
Where to, or what would you like to do next?
Edwin:
The ancient lets out a genuine, low rumbling laugh. "If nothing else, you now have a multitude of questions to choose from for our next visit."
Changing the subject, he says, "Indeed, it is my turn I suppose."
He begins, "Your clan has suffered a few setbacks in recent nights. Vienna destroyed, the Regent of Milwaukee breaking off to form her own house, more locally, Nicolai leaving. Tell me, young Edwin, what do you know of the desires of the new head of your clan in this city, Abraham DuSable?"
Be careful, boy. I am not the only Hound in this city now, and the other will lead you to ruin. I have eyes...heh...everywhere, be careful which side you choose, but you will have to choose. Jackson is a pretender. Maxwell ran away once before, what's to stop him from doing so again? He will not hesitate to sacrifice those who support him to save his skin...again.
The voice goes silent for a bit before adding. If you choose to join me, meet me below the 35th and Cermak station on the redline tomorrow night.
Dr. Baker:
"I'll give you one of them...which one you want?" Evelyn asks.
Which ever one you want, you now have a contact number for.
Savanna:
"If you want to try it that way fine, but if this is going to work, I will be dealing directly with you and not as an intermediary unless you want to tell me who your employer is."
"The Ventrue were jealous of what we had made in Carthage. A perfect Utopia where we did not have to hide from the kine nor we did not have to hunt them to sustain ourselves. Can you not imagine how much simpler our existences would be if we did not have to hide from the mortals?" the ancient says.
"Yes, we did have to relinquish some of the raw power we held over mortal institutions in order have that peace, and that was something the Patricians would never stand for. They used their influence to convince the Magisters, Childer of Malkav, and the Artisans to help them in their quest to destroy our Utopia. Add to that our ongoing issues with Saracens and Serpents native to the region and it was simply too much for Carthage to survive the combined might of four clans actively working against her and two others clawing for the scraps." he says almost wistfully."[/b]
With only a tinge of annoyance in her voice, Evelyn responds, "Ah yes, Dr. Baker. Hawk doesn't typically like to have his number given out. Hell, he works for me and even I haven't had it all that long."
She pauses a moment before offering. "I'll tell you what, I'll give your thanks to Hawk and give him your number. If he wants to speak with you, he'll reach out. Fair enough?"
Ollie:
Oh no, young one. I speak of proverbial wolves, not the literal ones that tore Lodin to pieces, but still failed to get the job done. the voice says. A storm of chaos is coming, and you are your friends will need to pick a side and be ready to act and react to all that is to be.
Edwin:
A grin crosses the ancient's face. "Willing to stand your ground. I can appreciate that, young Edwin. What is it you would learn of tonight?"
Savanna:
Bridger raises an eyebrow. "Anonymous...I can respect that, but I have not survived and thrived as long as I have by involved with dealings with those whom I know nothing about."
"I suppose there are other ways we could go about this." he says, "Perhaps rather than acting as an intermediary, you could acquire the building from me yourself. What you do with it from there is of little consequence to me. I recognize that in effect there is little difference in what you have requested and what I suggest, but there is a distinct difference in the eyes of the law, both mortal and Kindred. Surely you understand, right?"
While you do not have Hawkin's number, you do have a way of contacting Evelyn should you so choose, and she certainly can get word to him.
Ollie:
Oh so many different sides... the voice says. There is the Prince, but of course he just let the wolves in the door didn't he? Can he truly control them? I doubt it. There are the Anarchs, but does Wainwright really have the drive to do what needs to be done. And that doesn't even get into the fact that there are two former Princes of this city who seek the crown again...a dangerous time indeed.
Edwin:
"And what exactly is it you believe you know about something that goes on in this city that I do not already know?" Critias asks, seemingly genuine in his interest.
Savanna:
"An envoy for who exactly?" Bridger asks. "Finding a building of specific requirements you ask shouldn't be too difficult, but I want to know who exactly I'm dealing with."
A friend, an enemy...who's to say...but someone who knows this city is ripe for change. The question is which side will you be on? the voice inside your head says. For now, let's just call me The Hound...
I would offer you an Intelligence + Politics roll, but he difficulty would be 3 successes at difficulty 8, and you only have 2 dice. If you are still wanting to attempt a roll, I will change it to 2 successes at difficulty 9, but be warned of what may happen on a botch.
Edwin:
"I would be willing to entertain that notion, young one." the Brujah elder says with a predatory grin beginning to widen on his ancient face. "The question becomes, what is it you are willing to pay for this arrangement?"
Dr. Baker:
You rack your considerable mind, trying to remember details of the two women in question and ultimately come to the follow conclusion:
Maldavis - Maldavis is a Caitiff who is rumored to have come from Tremere stock, who revolted against Lodin's rule and nearly managed to overthrow him. She wants to bring Prince Jackson down. While she was too wrapped up in her grief to strike back, she always hoped she would one day have a chance to take vengeance on Prince Lodin. The War of Chicago took that from her, so his childe will have to do.
Maldavis reaches out to anyone of any background who is open to her idea of a horizontal leadership for the city, even the thin-bloods. She believes that most Kindred who seek entrance into a sect do so because they have no other options and cannot imagine a better way to run the undead. She’ll give them one.
Anita Wainwright - Anita Wainwright is a Brujah and the de-facto Baron of Anarchs in Chicago - a precarious position at best these nights. She has moved from being "occasionally useful" to "extremely useful" in the eyes of many powerful Kindred on all sides. Now, she wants to tread carefully and reinforce her power base before making any big moves.
Savanna:
"Please, have a seat." Bridger says gesturing to the two guest chairs in front of his desk.
"Indeed, I have access to a number of...specialized facilities. What is it you have in mind and what sort of transaction are we looking at? Cash? Boons? Some sort of combination of the two?" he asks, getting right down to business.
As you move toward the shadows that you thought you saw move, Buttons seems rather reluctant to approach.
In the back of your mind you hear in a chiding voice, Careful, careful...we wouldn't want to break your precious masquerade...
Dr. Baker:
Dr. Baker certainly knows of her, no roll needed, if from nothing else your time with Evelyn in Gary. If you want more, it will require an Intelligence + Politics roll, unfortunately your Elysium Regular merit won't help a lot, as Maldavis is a Caitiff and decidedly Anarch.
Scouring your memory, you realize that she will be difficult to find as she rarely keeps the same haven for more than a week at a time, but another name come to mind Anita Wainwright...another of Chicago's more famous/infamous Anarchs.
I'll take that same roll for more info on Anita.
Savanna Douglas:
You get the distinct feeling that Jacob was studying you, perhaps even reading things about your body language and maybe even your soul.
Jacob waves and heads of down the hall, leaving you in front of Bridger's office door. Moments later, the door opens and standing before you is a caucasian man with short dark hair and of average build and height.
"Please come in." the man says gesturing to chair in front of a substantial wooden desk.
Taking a seat behind that desk, he says. "Good evening, I'm Alexander Bridger. To what do I owe your visit this evening?"
Edwin:
"The former Prince? You refer to Maxwell, yes?" Critias confirms.
"Young Kevin is a child playing a game perfected by much older men and as child he is prone to rash decisions that ultimately are self-serving and infantile." the ancient says, hiding very little of his true feelings about the cities nascent Prince.
"That is not to say that all who are young are incapable, quite to the contrary, there are number of Ancillae and even Neonates that perform well beyond their years, it is simply that Kevin Jackson is not one of those...he is little more than an upranked street thug. Quite honestly, I am surprised that he wasn't embraced by the likes of Gengis rather than someone like Lodin."
"As to Maxwell, he has seen much in his existence. He knows what it is to be the lowest of the low as much as he knows what it is to be the highest of the high. He will treat the Kindred of this city much fairer than any of Lodin's brood could ever dream of."
"What else would you know, Childe?" the ancient says a tone equally malevolent and fatherly.
You're not absolutely sure, but you think you might have some sort of idea what has Button's hackles up. Did that shadow move, and more importantly, what is causing that shadow? It doesn't seem to match up with the light patterns.
Dr. Baker:
Having no other appointments scheduled for the evening, you check you phone hopeful to have message from K, but no such luck. You could go back to the Scientology Temple, but that might look desperate, that would never do. But how to advance the goals of both you and your new coterie?
A thought flashes to your mind, there was another kindred was there in Gary that night...Maldavis. Could she be a lead into something more?
Edwin:
The elder lets out a low rumbling laugh. "What a philosophical question to ask, young Edwin."
"Philosophical and astute." he concludes. "As to what question I would ask, I suppose that would depend on what exactly I needed. If were mere curiosity it might be something about Carthage and what happened there. If I were trying to attain something I could use from the past, perhaps it would be something along the lines of what I have seen that works for our kind as a society, and more importantly what does not."
A small grin crosses the ancient's face. "So the first question you must ask yourself, what is it you really want to gain knowledge of?"
Savanna:
"Oh, no problem." the janitor says. "I'm Jacob, by the way." he adds walking you down to Mr. Bridger's office.
Give me a Perception + Alertness roll please.
"Well here we are." he says, knocking on the door. "Hey Alex, your visitor is here."
