About Rowena Hammer

Inspired by Natalya Neidhart

They say crime doesn’t pay. For the Hammer Twins, that’s just not true.

Fallon Hammer, the lord tax collector of Pitax’s national treasury, is a key member of King Castruccio Irovetti’s brutal regime and in this capacity, Fallon and his five children were able to live a life of wealth and leisure while the rest of people of Pitax live in squalor and fear. Irovetti’s kleptocracy has kept the Hammer family in money and power for many years. But Old Man Hammer is growing older and senses his days may be numbered.

So for most of their lives, Rowena and Talia worked for their father as official tax collectors, fighting with their siblings over who got the chance to take over their father’s duties when he finally passed away.

Eventually they lost. Archibald Hammer, their older brother wrested control from the sisters and banished all of his siblings from the city.

Rowena and Talia suddenly found themselves impoverished and exiled from the only power base they’d ever known. So the sisters went out into the world and began to rebuild what had been lost to them.

First they started in Varisia, using their natural born strength and cruelty to take over a ring of bandits that threatened the trade routes that the Sczarni Brotherhood used to balance their bottom line.

Naturally this made them public enemy number one for the Brotherhood so prices were put on their heads. Many men and women tried to collect and the Hammer Sisters killed almost all of them, slaughtering Sczarni Mercenaries by the dozens.

Over time, the Sczarni Pathfinders, the backbone of the Brotherhood’s mercenary force, was disbanded and a new alliance called the Exchange rose in their place.

This new blending of factions took a much more pragmatic view of the Hammer Sisters and a deal was struck: if the Hammer Sisters stopped their attacks, the two women would be granted membership in the Exchange and the Pathfinder Society as a whole.

The women ultimately decided to take the Exchange up on their offer and even now they travel to Absalom to begin creating a new power base in the Center of the World.

But unbeknownst to either woman, there is discontent stirring in the partnership. Rowena has delusions of running their new organization all by herself and she’s not going to hesitate to kill her own family member to sit atop an underworld throne...
