Rory's last conversation with Silver Shield had left a knot in his gut that still hadn't gone away. Seeing Holly's gaggle of twits drew a halfhearted eye roll from him. During class it was somewhat enjoyable, being able to focus on something other than some nut job in a cape, evil cyborgs, or telepath worshipping cult. Hey do you need any help picking stuff up? Rory texts back to Valerie.
I personally have been suffering a serious mental/creativity block. Like everytime I come to post in gameplay I kinda wind up staring at the text box until I can't come up with anything and more on to something else
Frostbite squeezed Siphon returning the embrace. "Alright everyone calm down, yes I have someone I answer to, oddly enough having superpowers doesn't make me an adult," Frostbite rolls his eyes and shrugs before continuing, "yes, Silver Shield is well aware of the Skullions. That brings back to the issue at hand and do we have any leads on the Androidians or the Skullions?"
"With all do respect, I feel 'beck and call' is a bit of an over statement. They ask us if we can handle something and we accept or decline as we see fit," Rory retorts. He then gives Trip a crooked smile, "most of the time we try and keep them intact but accidents do happen."
Rory appears in a doorway, "none of you know how to answer comms? And I missed out on the fight, so lame. Also who is the juggernaut?" He gestures towards the armored figure.

Rory comes out of the gym looking to share the good news, only to find they had all ran off. Well this is off to a lovely start... he thinks to himself before attempting to reach the team via comms, "Frostbite to Sentinels, where the hell did you all go..."
Rory takes a deep breath raising his arms and lacing his fingers behind his head and exhales slowly. "Yes, I want her on the team... however much of a headache it may cause us. I think we could do some good for her and her us," he says having to focus to not show that his stomach was in knots as he waits his mentors response.
Rory follows his mentor to the gym. Rory starts and stops as he tries to find the words to respond to this mentor. "To be as clear as possible. We are involved but it is unclear if we are dating, her parents are neglectful drunks who use her to enrich themselves. The two aren't necessarily related. Oh and it was Trip's idea to offer her a spot on the team not me... although I support the idea in principle."
But I wanna die and come back an even bigger jerk ala Jason Todd...
With Siphon behind him Rory reaches backwards with one arm in a pseudo protective embrace and reaching out with the other to guard against an advance by his mentor. "Technically, I did bring her in," the brash pupil replies, "as my dear friend said locking her away is only useful if the desire is to punish but if rehabilitation is the goal she is better off with us. If we lock her away in our Swiss cheese like prison system it would only be a matter of time before some big baddie or their henchmen blow a hole in one of the wall and during the escape look at her and are like 'you coming kid' and boom another life long criminal." The protégé and mentor stare at each other for a few breaths then Frostbite continues, "besides don't you often refer to this as my team, if you truly feel that way or want me to lead than shouldn't I have say over who is on the team? Well this is me stepping up!"
"Oh f!!!," Rory says jumping up and heading to the elevator door. Siphon is on the ground before he is even halfway.
Rory plops down on the couch and pulls out his phone chuckling to himself, "ugh this is all so stupid." After a few more minutes of watching the news he pulls out his phone and places a call, "hey boss, so I am sure you saw the news, can you help us facilitate a press conference? Lets say 2 hours from now?"
Rory stands mouth slightly agape for a moment before coughing, "well s$!* I guess the vote was for nothing, you know what good for her."
I had to wrestle a knife away from a methed out "visitor" who arrived at the wrong hospital 12 hours after his girlfriend, who he was looking for, had been treated and discharged from our other Emergency Department
"Hard no," Rory seems surprised by his words at first, "I won't vote someone off the team, if she leaves that is on her. If she already feels isolated and like her friends are betraying her if we then vote her out it will only serve to confirm it in her mind. If she chooses to leave hopefully the doorcwill be left open for her to return at some point."

Rory starts to step between Valerie and Kayla, but Kayla chooses to leave instead of throwing punches. "Yeah, that went about how I was expecting it to go..." "You ok?" Rory asks Valerie placing his hand on her arm and rubbing it gently.
Rory finished up his cereal quickly placing his bowl in the sink he runs some water over it, the runs to look at Kayla, "you're right, well kinda, I was also mind controlled and had my powers used against my will, and lost my powers during the scrubber incident. So I have some level of understanding although not perfectly." Rory moves around the kitchen island that was between him and Kayla so he was somewhat standing between Siphon and Praetoria forming a bit of a triangle. "That said, what Dread did was horrific but you and your parents were targeted specifically by psychotic megalomaniacs who sought out and developed tech to steal powers, Siphon on the other hand did go out one day and choose the power she has. As far has her 'wrong acts', which I am sure will be the subject of numerous future discussions, that is kinda the point of her joining the team to get a fresh start."

Having no fresh clothes of his own Rory throws on yesterday's duds and exits the room with Valerie. Rory gives everyone a nod of acknowledgement then pours a bowl of cereal. Too early for this.
Rory wakes up to the sound of Kayla's voice, s!@#!
"Yeah lets all get some shut eye and then come up with a plan in the morning for the Dread tech sitch," Rory says while making a huge fake yawn and stretch before making eyes at Valerie and heading off to her room...
"I am down to check it out," Rory chimes in, "get settled and we can head out after."
"Yeah that's it. Come around to the back ally and I will come get you," Rory replies, heading up to grab the new team member. "So, this is the base and this is the rest of the team, well minus Praetoria..."
"Trip offered Siphon a spot on the team, she excepted. So now the girl I am seeing and my ex are on the same team, maybe, with me. Um she is on her way here to the base owned by my mentor that wants Siphon arrested," Rory says shaking his head before softly laughing at the absurdity of it all.
Rory gives Andressa a quick run down of how driving works on the way back to Blockbuster. When they get back Rory preps a place for Valerie to sleep and store her stuff.
"Yeah we'll meet you back at the base," Rory says as Valerie flies off. Then he turns to "One, you sure this is a good idea and two, can you even drive?"
Rory adopts a more serious bearing looking at Valerie, "I like working with you, and I really like you on a personal level, like a lot, so I won't blow smoke up your skirt. If you want to join the team we will need to resolve the issue between you and Praetoria, and the fact that some of the adult supers want you brought in, although, you joining the team might soften their desire to take you in if they think you are no longer a threat to society." His face softens and he steps closer to her, "if this is something you really want I will do whatever I can to make it happen."
I guess we all (except Psyche and Trip?) individually have people we answer to more so than the team answering to any person or group.
To what degree do we actually have the ability to add someone to the team unilaterally, like do we need Alliance approval? and to what degree do we actually answer to the Alliance?
As Valerie slips from his hug he briefly stuck his out his lower lip in a sad face. When she becomes seemingly more receptive to the idea of being on the team he is caught of guard, "Uh yeah that'd be cool, um some hoops to jump through, but it is definitely something we can look into." Rory hopes this is a sign that she might be at least interested in turning away from villainy.
Rory comes up behind Valerie and wraps his arms around her, "you are not a parasite, and your power doesn't have to define what or who you are."
Rory echoes Valerie's groan at the thought of more intrusions. He exits the vehicle once locating his own clothes, and waits on an explanation for what is going on.
"Uh... Triplight, Siphon; Siphon, Triplight," Rory offers a brief introduction in the confusion of Trip's sudden arrival. If Valerie doesn't outright hate superheroes we might push her in that direction... Rory thought to himself. "Um, Trip could you give us as minute?" "Sorry about this, I have no idea what is going on, unfortunately," he says trying to help Valerie find her clothes.
Trip might do something dumb DO IT!
GM: Rory's resistance fades into the ether as Valerie whispers into his ear and then nuzzles his neck.
Fast cars and faster women...
Rory ignores any thoughts that make their way to his mind.
Rory undoes his seatbelt and gives her a skeptical look, "wrong turn , riiiiight," he teases playfully. Uh um it is gonna be a minute, we uh took a wrong turn... "Nah I like it out here," Rory faces Valerie and leans in, "I really like the view" he says right before going in for the kiss.
With Praetoria's message relayed Rory replies "yes we are leaving, I am going to see if I can burn off some of her energy dancing and continue the turn yourself in angle, hopefully I can get through to her."
trusting Rory A mistake really have Tory try to talk her into giving up? I am not sure Tory is any better of a choice
Should we just assume that she did?
Looks like the ball is in Praetoria's court at the moment unless Psyche jumps in to stop her. |
