I was looking at setting up a Gnomish mounted gunslinger with a sort of "Little cowboy" idea, and in doing so I noticed something strange.

According to Ultimate Equipment a Donkey/Mule shares the same stats as a Pony. The only differences noted being that the Donkey/Mule "is willing (though not eager)to enter dungeons". Which, by and large, makes it objectively better than a pony. Now, a pony costs 30 gp while the (now superior) donkey/mule only costs 8 gp.

Then I had the idea of a combat trained mule, because: why not? As a thought experiment I wondered what a Combat Mule would cost (since no one would reasonably be selling Combat Mules), and the best I could reason as a pricing system for combat animals is 150% of base price. So... 12 gp. Which makes sense. Reselling my combat mule shouldn't tack 50 gp onto its price tag.

Am I missing anything crucial? Eh, I know my character can train the mule for combat himself, and will likely have him do so. But, is the Donkey/mule really just a superior pony at 30% the cost?
