Sorry to do this guys but I have to drop out. I'm over-booked on campaigns given the stuff that I need to do in real life. The Arthurian feel of this campaign, provided both by GM and players, has been fantastic and I wish you all the best heading forward.
Rion nods somewhat reluctantly. "If my king desires it, I will do it."
Rion nods. "Yes that will be good. It will keep the people laughing instead of worrying. I'm not much for jousting and don't drink myself but if necessary, I will play at drunken jousting to keep the peace."
Rion nods in agreement. I've seen her ride. She knows her business.
Rion nods. "Yes I do believe the crowds would only be all the more excited by postponing the finales. That will increase the suspense."
Rion nods in agreement with Catriona's words. "She will be well but she needs a little time."
Rions hestates, not thinking himself fit to speak to the king so. But when he sees no one else speak, he bows deeply and steps forward, presenting the letter. "Your grace, we followed the tracks to a mine guarded by a brigand, whom we slew. Inside we found and defeated more of the same, taking their leader alive. We also found the girl Elmina. From this letter that the leader surrendered to us, we conclude they were hired. We do not know by whom." Rion bows again.
Rion nods and heads to the king as soon as the others are ready. "Arthur is wise. Simply providing him with the information will be helpful."
Rion listens thoughtfully. "Yes that sounds correct. Let us add the letter-writer said he would send someone along to pick up the girl and deliver the coin. But we will, of course, surrender the letter to His Grace."
Rion nods and bows with deep humility at being invited to speak with Arthur. "I thank you, Sir Gawain of Taelen, for relaying my king's command to me." Straightening up, he focuses on the question at hand. "Indeed, it is troubling and difficult to discern what is happening."
Rion nods gratefully to Genalie and Cyas. "We should meet Gawain once we are all ready to do so." He nods respectully to Catriona. "Are you ready, knight of Arthur?"
Rion nods and helps carry Rion carefully to the place designated by the healer. "Will she be well soon?" He also ponders for a moment before adding "Please do not spread the word that we have returned with Elmina. I'm sure the news will be heard but we wish to preserve as much time as possible."
Rion nods respectfully to the healer. "The full story can wait. She was drugged with a sleeping herb. Can you help with that?"
Rion begins riding toward the healer's tent, assuming that was what the more senior knights wanted anyway.
Rion prepares to depart as well, helping load the fallen and their belongings onto the cart.
Yeah I've finally realized that. Let's just head back.
The young knight comforts Elmina. "Thank you. You have helped us narrow down the possibilities." He then encourages her to sit back and drink water while waiting for any signal from outside.
Rion offers Elmina some water and encourages her to take her time sipping it. When she's ready, he confirms "Yes it would be good if you could take a look for us. Were these the men who took you?" He shows her just the faces of the corpses.
Rion doesn't know much about herbs. He looks to Catriona for understanding.

Rions nods to reinforce Gawain's encouragement. Hopefully she can reduce the number of unanswered questions we have... so many...
Rion nods at Gawain's words. "This information could save lives and bring the guilty to justice, Elmina. We need to narrow things down as much as we can." She can handle it.
Rion ponders this news.
"An odd smell? I know nothing of such things..." Ruon shrugs in ignorance. "Elmina, do you believe you could identify the faces of these men?" Rion considered to himself. Perhaps the kidnappers she saw are both among those we defeated. But if she can identify anyone else wrapped up in this, we must know.
Rion leans gently over the girl. "Hello, Elmina. You're safe. The Knights of Arthur have rescued you. What is the last thing you remember?"
Rion ponders the possibility of a distraction. "What would be gained indeed..." He helps clean up while pondering the matter. "Are there any nobles who would wish to see the tournament disrupted? Perhaps they see the tournament as a time for the King to gain popularity among the people and they believe disrupting it will cause him to lose face."
Rion nods. "Elmina will be well waiting here. Let us stay in the upper reaches of the mine with one of us on watch, either hidden or disguised. Then the others can come quickly if any suspects appear?" The young knight speaks uncertainly. He thinks his plan will cause no harm, at the least, but he is unused to speaking his mind so freely to those he considers more advanced along the path of knighthood. Should the others agree, Rion will head outside the mine and bring the body in, attempt to obscure any signs of a fight, and leave several empty wine bottles lying about. "Perhaps this will convince anyone approaching that the lack of a guard is no cause for concern."
Rion scratches his head, wondering what would be the best course of action. "We could lay a trap for them. I do fear that Elmina's return would warn them not to come to the mine... What would be best?"
Cool! I'd have to say one of my favorite movies of all time, Return of the Jedi, and special pleading to have a group of characters stay normal. I want everyone but the Ewoks to be muppets. That's something I'd pay to see and pay more to make other people see.
The young knight considers carefully. "How long is it fair to this young lass to keep her here in order to have a vague chance to capture her kidnappers? Perhaps we should take her back now and pursue the kidnappers through other investigation. Identifying the scribe, for example." He looks uncertainly to his seniors.
Rion ponders the options. "I am unsure what they want with Elmina or another contestant. We must continue thinking on this and tell the King everything we can find out. Let us see if Elmina is well enough to wait to return so we may lay an ambush." With that, Rion checks the page to see if she is in any immediate danger.
Rion ponders the idea. "Perhaps the four of us should wait to arrest whoever brings the coin while Owen returns the young Elmina to safety?" But the young knight is very unsure of his idea and looks around for confirmation from the more senior knights, including his mentor.
Rion stares at the symbol without any comprehension. "Hmm... what does it mean?"
Rion nods. "Yes. We must have answers for the king." He draws a rope from his pack and begins binding the leader.
The young knight tries to stand imposingly with his bow, though he never was much of one for putting on a show.
Rion breathes heavily and looks around for any further threats.
Once satisfied, he moves quietly to help Gawain cover the leader. He nods at Trimar's treatment of Cat. He knows how to dress a wound too... An interesting knight... He covers the leader silently, allowing the more experienced and smooth-talking Gawain handle the leader. Though his manner is meek, there's a steel in his eye that suggests he'd shoot this leader very, very fast should he try anything.
Rion fires at the fleeing leader, attempting to bring him down without killing him. Gawain is wise. The leader would likely make the most valuable captive.
Rion fires at the bandit attacking Catrion, attempting to finish what she started with her backhanded blow.
Rion fires hist first arrow hastily at the bandit behind Catriona. I must defend my comrades! But the shot goes well wide. He remembers Owen's training "Keep breathing. Make your shots count." The young knight calms down and exhales serenely while drawing his second arrow. Then he lets it fly with deadly accuracy at the bandit's eye.
*whiff* *SMASH*
Yep! But in exchange for that extra feat I lose a TON of skills and other nice things, including sneak attack. Loving the current scene, GM! The back and forth of this fight is very fun and it's great to throw these characters into a battle after we really have gotten to know them and the setting.
Rion's eyes dart about the room. He calls out to the bandits "Surrender in the name of the king!"
Seeing one of the thugs reaching for his weapon, Rion fires rapidly.
Rion ensures that all are prepared to enter the next room. Once they indicate they are ready, he moves silently up to the door and throws it open, preparing to fire with his bow.
Yes! I'm enjoying the interaction with Trimar and the hard choices as well! I find dynamic characters harder to RP consistently than static ones but more interesting.
Rion moved forward with a noticeable slumo in his shoulders. I am different from Trimar... Aren't I? That man admitted to being part of this operation, not simply a bystander. And he was awake and alert... Not a helpless sleeper... The young knight tries hard to justify his surprise attack to himself but merely goes goes back and forth over and over in his own head. With a heavy heart, he moves the body of the man he killed out of the way. He quietly breaks the two shafts that killed the man, crosses the man's arms overs his chest, and leaves the shafts on the man. He then moves to the door with Trimar and nods that he is ready with an arrow knocked for whenever Trimar opens the door. He also motions for Catriona, Gawain, and Owen to be prepared to assault whatever was on the other side. Now, he could not see his mentor, but he was certain the wise knight was there nonetheless.
Rion holds up his fist to try to stop Catriona and Gawain in the back. He then motions to Trimar that they should fire. When Trimar appears ready, Rion steps around the corner. I dislike attacking the unaware... But by his own words he is helping kidnappers and any sound he makes may mean the death of Elmina...

Rion nods at his mentor's wise words. "That is good to know the lay of the mine. Please advise us as we explore." He turns to Catriona and Gawain. "And I would certainly feel much more secure if you were willing to stay close behind us, as Ser Owen has advised." He turns to Trimar and gestures at the door he is about to slip through "Shall we?"
