Male Human Geek Level 10

Hi guys ,I received Avinar's email. I am fine, just having a very rough time with RL right now. I truly appreciate your concern, and deeply apologize for my abrupt and extended absence. Thanks Avinar for taking over Bubba and continuing to run him. This being a game, sometimes its easy to forget that the other players behind the characters are real people.

This has been a great game, thanks to all of you for making it so enjoyable while I was a part of it. It will probably be the first to complete an entire AP in PbP format on these boards.

For now I think I will have to excuse myself from PbP for a while, I just dont have it in me at this point in my life. Thank's again everyone for the great game, especially BT for sticking with it for so long.

Take care all, I will probably lurk the thread to see the final victory of Valgrim's Vanguard!

Wow, so many applicants. Since I am already in 4 other PbP games, I'll go ahead and withdraw my application. Good luck everyone!

Lucendar: yes Ojibwe is the character I had in mind, I will tailor his background to fit the campaign and probably tweak his stats a bit.

Hey Lucendar, I'm interested in playing in this. I have a Mwangi druid I created for Serpent's Skull that might fit in this campaign.

Tarlane:

Spoiler:
Willy is petty much neutral about the country of Andoran. His motivations up to this point are mostly for personal gain. He is betraying the Consortium mainly because Andoran is paying him to do so, but also because he feels he has suffered some bad treatment at the hands of the Consortium in general and Kreed in particular.

Well, I have a PFS character that's an invulnerable rager, but he has only played in 1 scenario so far. So, not much experience. It would be interesting to see a how little higher level one plays though.

Willy was originally created before the archetype existed, but if I get a chance to stat him up to level 5, I am going to try the archetype.

Liberty's Edge

I have this character from an old PbP set in Andoran. He would have to be restatted at the right level, probably Barbarian (invulnerable rager) 5.

Willard (Willy) Barnable

Background

Spoiler:

Willy was born in Augustana, Andoran of shopkeeper parents. He was a wild boy, often getting into trouble on the streets. He did not take well to discipline and resented his parents for that, and their settled ways. In his teenage years he beat another youth almost to death over a girl they both coveted. On the run from the law, he managed to hook up with a Lumber Consortium caravan returning to Falcon's Hollow and was offered a job as a lumberjack, which he hastily took, not realizing what he was getting himself into.
In Falcon's Hollow he took well to the job, being naturally inclined for the rough hard work. However he did not take well to the oppressive ways of the Consortium bosses. As much as he disliked being treated little better than a slave, there was little he could do about it. His garrulous nature sometimes got him into trouble, but the bosses noticed his strength and brutishness, so they sometimes paid him a little extra to carry out various duties as a thug and enforcer.

Always looking out for a better opportunity, on one of his jobs in Oldfen, he was approached by an officer of the Diamond regiment. He now works as an informant for them, feeding them information on the various criminal dealings of Thuldren Kreed and the Lumber Consortium.

Willy comes off as a stupid oaf, but is much more cunning and perceptive than his initial impression indicates. He is an expert tree climber and woodsman.

If I recall correctly the Company Lumberjack trait is from Wayfinder 1.

I always wanted to roll a goblin gunslinger, may I present Lurp (Boom-Boom) Barfspittle for your consideration.

Not being all that familiar with the gunslinger class, I still need to tweak his stats a bit.

Gold: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 3, 4, 2) = 16 x10 = 160

I was at my LGS this weekend for my PFS game and I saw a Rite Publishing book (I forget which one) prominently displayed on the shelf with some other Pathfinder books. One of the authors was none other than T. H. Gulliver.

I hope she gets well Terra, good luck.

On another note, should I stat up Alandra's assistant Meg as an Adept?

Liberty's Edge

I just want to say I am really digging this game. Wrath, you are doing a fantastic job, thanks for all the time and effort you are putting into it.

Naturally, I think Alandra should fill the High Priestess role.

Yes, excellent way to end the first chapter.

Liberty's Edge

Alandra is the natural choice for the High Priest(ess) role I suppose.

Here's a paladin for consideration:

Abernathus Burbuckle

He wasn't built with a 25 point buy, so I will adjust his stats if he gets in.

I present Ojibwe, a human druid from the Mwangi Expanse.

The background in the link should answer the first 2 questions. For the 3rd:

Spoiler:
Of course he would be a snake!

Aww, Wrath, just when I was going to make a submission:

Artistrynimiok (Arty the Wild Gnome)

Gnome Oracle of Nature (wasting curse)

First Draft background:

Arty was born in and spent his early years in the Sanos Forest. As he grew older he developed an affinity to the natural denizens of the forest; the animals (even vermin), and plants and flowers, water, sky and wood. Soon the affinity grew to fascination and obsession at the expense of social interaction with the other gnomes of the forest, However, he claimed he drew power form those forces of nature, or perhaps form a greater force behind those. The elder gnomes of the forest grew weary of Arty's hermitlike ways an politely asked him to leave their community. He was not unpleased and began his wanderings of the Sanos forest and beyond. During his travels he rescued a wolf pup from its dead mother and raised it to be his faithful companion and sometimes mount.

Eventually he made his way west to the Sandpoint Hinterlands, where he found himself in some trouble with a roving party of tribal goblins. It was here that Shalelu found him and after driving away the goblins, realized that this strange but friendly being would not last long in the dangerous wilds around Sanpoint, and so urged him to come to the town for safety. He reluctantly agreed, but stays on the edge of the town, often venturing out into the wilds, drawn to them as he is. Shalelu remains his friend and keeps an eye out for him on his wanderings. Lately he has been suffering from the beginnings of the Bleaching (mechanically represented by the wasting curse).

Arty is a wild-lookimg creature, dressed in furs and leaves, with sticks and flowers braided in his crazy silver/white hair. He is uneasy around civilized humanoids, but is thoughtful and kind to all he meets, even though is manner of speech is short and strange. He occasionally provides medical care to the towns animals, and will reluctantly take a fee, even though he has little use for money.

Traits: Rescued (Shalelu)/Warden of Nature (gnome trait)

I would like to submit Abernathus (Abe) Burbuckle, a halfling paladin, for consideration.

Description and Personality:

Spoiler:
Although Abe is small, he is stout, with long hair tied back into a ponytail, and a sword than seems to big for him sheathed behind his back. His demeanor is very friendly and charming. Although he is quiet and soft spoken, he is quick to rouse if something is threatening him, or someone else who needs defending. He loves Shelyn fiercely and will gladly die defending her name and honor.

Background:

Spoiler:
Abe was born in Cheliax, into a family of servants to a Chelish merchant. He had a gift for art at a young age, and was often found carving wooden figurines when he was supposed to be working. Since such behavior was frowned upon for a halfling servant in Cheliax, he was a fairly unhappy fellow in those days.

When Abe became an adult, as soon as he was able to, he escaped his master and hopped on a ship for Absalom, where he knew his artistic talent would be much more appreciated. There he enrolled in an art school run by the temple of Shelyn.

After training in arms he embarked on his mission to bring art and beauty to the darkest corners of the world. This has landed him in the strange village of Eran's Rest, where he wishes to eventually find work as an art teacher. It was here that he met Professor Lorrimor when he was visiting the town. Lorrimor was taken by Abe's friendly demeanor and stout heart, and asked him to serve as his bodyguard while he was in the town.

Ixius is willing to use and pay for the hat of disguise, and in town purchased a wand of grease and a wand of glitterdust.

I was also under the impression we were going to be stealthy about it.

But in a frontal attack, if anyone moves to fight us, Ixius will cast glitterdust, then scorching ray at blinded foes.

Craft check to make crossbow during the week in Sothis: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

That was fail, which make sense considering a crossbow is not a bow.

Ah, that's too bad, but I totally understand FW. This was a great game, sorry to see it end.

Liberty's Edge

Alandra knows about the shrine, Kaven has already asked her to keep an eye out for it. At the moment she is oblivious to any behind-the-scenes political machinations.

Sweet, which results in rolls of 13, 12, 13 15, 11 and 15.

Assuming I can use the rolls in any order for stats, and including the halfling racial bonuses we have Str 15-2 = 13, Dex 12+2 = 14, Con 13, Int 10, Wis 11, Cha 15+2 = 17

LG of course.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 4) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 5) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 1) = 14

I agree, the rule as written seems perfectly clear to me. You can spontaneously cast your preferred spell, expending a prepared spell or a spontaneous spell slot for the day. How much it costs you to prepare a spell from a prohibited school is irrelevant. Spontaneously casting a spell is a completely different mechanic than preparing a spell.

The rule does seem goofy at first, but actually it makes the feat kinda cool; As a GM I would probably allow it as written, but I could see changing the rule to not allow you to use the feat on a spell from a prohibited school.

Liberty's Edge

I suppose one could interpret it that way. However, the RAW is "The eidolon does not heal naturally", not "The eidolon does not heal naturally on its home plane after being killed."

Interesting question, I'm not sure what the intent of the rule is.

Liberty's Edge

At the very bottom of page 55 of the APG: "The eidolon does not heal naturally."

Sounds to me like a rules contradiction.

There is no contradiction. A change in an ability score results in a "+1 bonus to the skills and STATISTICS LISTED WITH THE RELEVANT ABILITY."

The statement 'temporary increases to your Strength score give you a bonus on Strength-based skill checks' in no way contradicts the first statement. If it said 'temporary increases to your Strength score do not give you a bonus on Strength checks' then it would be a contradiction.

The arcane scroll split sounds good.

Korian can have the wand of scorching ray and wand of acid splash, Ixius knows both of those spells, so he will just take the wand of ray of frost.

Maybe Sykala should get the divine scrolls?

Hey Wrath:

I would like to play in this. My original concept for Kingmaker was a gnome "fey hunter" ranger, but it looks like there is already an abundance of rangers proposed. Perhaps I could recycle Alandra for this game. Of course I would need to convert her to PFRPG rules (I think she is still Beta) and regress her back to level 1, and adjust her background somewhat.

Ojibwe is a Mwangi druid that needs to be raised to 2nd level and tweaked with the new APG options.
