Round 5

Rhoreen’s grouses in annoyance as her own ring seems to deflect her magics from reaching their intended targets. Switching gears, she will speed up the attacks on the bad thing.
high is good: 1d100 ⇒ 94 vs. Deaf

Haste 1/9: You realize that you might be the unknowing recipient of some unkind thoughts from someone very much like Rhoreen if you don’t get your ass in gear and kill the people who are annoying Rhor. You get +1 to your attacks, a bit more speed, and an extra angry attack if you do such things. You know the deal: don’t disappoint Rhor.

Phasing: The drinker gains the ability to become incorporeal for 1d4 rounds as a swift action, but takes 1 point of Con damage when he does so. Phasing can be extended as a free action by taking 1 additional point of Con damage. Coming out of phase inside a solid object is instantly fatal.

New usual morning magical protections: False Life 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 temp hp, extended Mage Armor (herself & Ruha, 18 hours), when we suspect trouble/dungeoneering extended Heroisms (herself & Yambul, 180 minutes), Overland Flight (9 hours). Rhor will don her filter mask when exploring when there is a chance at combat (dungeons and like), and keep it off when in town and among people.

Skymetal Omen: The subject of this omen is jinxed with the unquantifiable nature of skymetal. When the target makes an attack or saving throw during the next 2 rounds, it must roll twice and take the worse result. A DC 20 Will save negates this effect. 17/50.

Skymetal's Onus: The subject of this onus is infused with the unquantifiable nature of skymetal. The target can choose one attack or one saving throw during the next 2 rounds, it may roll twice and take the better result (choose before rolling).  45/50.

Oh redo. Ugh. Rhoreen is wrong, again.

Round 3

1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 = 11 Fort vs. DC 18

Rhoreen’s ears hurt as her reward for kicking so much ass is an angry yell from Xoud. And that makes it a little less painful.

Rhoreen will use the wand of wind wall to blow away the unslightly mists from the ghost. Maybe surrounding it and pushing the mists away? Whatever Rhor thinks best.

”Maybe,” Rhoreen shrugs. ”But he might have the ability to fart like this more than once a day, so not sure it would be valuable to try.” Let alone the ghost could just move out of any wind cell and do it again. It truly is a miserable ability that I’m unsure on the best solution. Rhoreen is happy to hand you the wand if you want to try.

”No matter,” Rhoreen puns herself into a giggle. ”NO MATTER. HA!” She chortles and looks over at the ghost. She moves between Chaance and Zzvkgrogk and casts [/i]Dimension Door[/i] to the other side of the room.

”Not that it *matters*, but you’re welcome,” she says to both.

Rhoreen ponders for a moment.

"Say, <*sound*>," Rhoreen makes a sound like purple worm digesting an owlbear, "Do you want to try to seal shut the worm-woman's door before we go much further? If the ghost turns the power off, we'll have to deal with it on its terms, not ours. Think you can do that?" Rhoreen asks when the ysoki has finished the initial work.

F Half-elf Craftsperson

Rhoreen takes a look around, and ponders for a moment. She already agrees with Chaance’s translation, but figuring out what it really means will take some time.

1d20 + 19 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 19 + 2 = 37 Know (*engineering)

She will explain about the generator and note the power’s connection to the doors holding the very annoying wormwalker.

”Might be that we should seal that door more permanently as it will open if the power goes off, like if a ghost were to afflict it,” Rhoreen explains.

Is there an easy way for the ghost to turn the generator off?

F Half-elf Craftsperson

Rhoreen wishes that Chaance was correct, but they might not be. If Xoud’s essence is bound to these swarms and his research, then the only way to rid the tower of the ghost…was to destroy the swarms.

Rhoreen doesn’t know the answer yet, and watches Zzvkgrogk’s struggles without comment.

F Half-elf Craftsperson

Rhoreen glares at the escape tunnel as if it personally affronted her as she deeply wanted Xoud's dark secret to be hidden within.

"Fair enough. Let's keep looking, but we'll come back here to leave. We'll want to know where this comes out. Might be handy," Rhoreen says, agreeing with Chaance on the option to move on to the next door.

F Half-elf Craftsperson

Lol. Finally Yambul gets some culinary credit.

”Uh, thank you,” Rhoreen notes. ”I think I was about to get it. I had it on its tipping point, I’m sure.”

Dusting off her hands (as her work is done here in the altar room), Rhoreen goes to check on the wall of impassivity.

1d20 + 24 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 24 + 2 = 36 Know (Arcana)

”Oh, magical stone wall, huh?” Rhoreen thinks about ways past it. She has several, but no good ones. ”I can get myself in and out. I can get 4 of us, but not out. I wonder what else might work. The azer might have tools to help us get through.”

F Half-elf Craftsperson

”Oh, I got this, I’m sure this time!” Rhoreen grunts, too proud and stubborn to ask *again* for help.

Rhoreen finishes pondering the altar. She draws the biggest and dangerous melee weapon she has, a dagger. It’s not cold iron or silver, but does fit her hand. She approaches the altar and begins to try to destroy it.

Rhoreen nods agreement with Chaance's assessment.

"Ayep, Zyphus, we should be careful," Rhoreen peeks her head in and looks around. "And because we know Xoud was a believer, it's possible that he is tied to this realm through this shrine. We should destroy it. Yes."

Rhoreen takes a careful look around the room for any 'accidental' dangers.

Rhoreen spins around, looking for the ghost and putting away the wand.

”Where did that ghostly bastard go. I’ll give him credit for the trick, it was a good one, but I’ll see him re-dead by the time the this day is done,” Rhoreen fumes, hating having been tricked.

”C’mon, let’s find this ghostly bastard,” Rhoreen flies after Ruha and to the next door.

Rhoreen grunts in annoyance as the daemon easily shakes off her ill omen. She draws the wand of Wind Wall and uses it to evince a wind wall to protect herself and party from the flies. Not sure exactly where to put it, but Rhoreen should know.

She will move back out of the room for the moment.

Rhoreen takes the wand for the time being (with intents for group sale later). "Does anyone might if I hold this for now?"

Morning stuff:

Rhoreen, feeling more invigorated after a night of restful sleep in a glade patrolled by a lunar moth, awakes energized to tackle some of Xoud's spellbooks in the morning.

"Yeah, I don't think ro-butts dream of electric sheep," she responds to the dreaming aspect of the question. "And not sure about the azers or the creatures that were alive before we got in there. Not sure about the oozes or mists either. Not a lot of study on the dreams of carnivorous mists. Might Xoud might know."

"Well, let's go handle that door, then finish up with the tower. Maybe we can rest here tonight. We have a lot of trips to make, back to town, then back out here, then back to town...ugh, but it'll be faster and easier with our vehicles."

Rhoreen is happy when the outdoorsy-smart people find a suitable place to camp. She will help prepare the meal and clean up, and also take her appointed watch.

And then she will rest of the night. In the morning, she will be ready for whatever happens (maybe).

”I have time to check out a glade. The tower shouldn’t take too long, as I think we just have that nasty ghost to deal with…and any daemons who have wondered in in the night.”

Rhoreen is relieved and surprised when the party is not facing three giants trying to smash her valuable brain.

She listens to Ruha's warning and notes the conflict.

Rhoreen, who is very smart (at least smart enough to *NOT* go up and start talking to freakin' hill giants), wishes that maybe it would be better if they didn't start a fight with the giants.

Outvoted (but still certain that she is smugly correct), Rhoreen moves outside to find a safe place to camp in the forest. She will insist on being a distance away from where she feels the ghost might roam, but near enough that she doesn’t have to worry about getting fatigued and grumpy again. No one wants her to be grumpy.

Before sleeping, she will plug another 4 charges into the force ring, filling it to 9. And also recharge her fire staff as well.

We’re doing the best we can, and let us remind you that there is an angry vengeful ghost in this tower and you should take all necessary precautions,” Rhoreen answers the azers. She has a deal that she intends to honors. ”Maybe sprinkle salt around the doors. That might help. Or sleep in the center of running water, I’ve heard that might help too.”

She will rest and magic herself up, ready to go back in and face the door…and the truth of what binds Xoud within.

"I think we should go try the plated door. We'll don't want to give Xoud a chance to recover their spells, and I'm not sure how that works if we have his spellbooks, that already seems crazy to me, but maybe ghosts are different?" Rhoreen suggests.

"Besides, I really want to know what is keeping him tied to this mortal plane. I mean, this laboratory is great and all, what with the unknown horrors and acidic deathmists, but why is he still tied here? It's gotta be behind the door."

As I think Rhoreen can charge the ring by targeting herself with Magic Missile, she will charge it with 4 more charges to give it 5…which will be very slightly more effective against the ghost if we see it again.
