Appearance Small, cute, and very androgynous Ren is either a very cute girl or a very pretty boy. Ren has long hair, sharp canines and incisors, and big round childlike eyes. Because of Ren’s innocent childlike appearance, the ninja finds it easy charming and fooling people. Although Ren most closely resembles a halfling, the ninja’s blood is tainted with that of the diabolical Rakshasa and as a direct result Ren has an unholy compulsion to dress and act like a cat. Much of Ren’s clothing reflects this motif. Ren’s gauntlets look like cat paws complete with claws and Ren’s hat has cat’s ears built in. The only major indication that Ren isn’t halfling is a catlike tail. Ren’s tail is very expressive and sometimes unknowingly betrays Ren’s emotions.

Class Features:
Spoiler:

Poison Use: At 1st level, a ninja is trained in the use of poison and cannot accidentally poison herself when applying poison to a weapon.

Sneak Attack: If a ninja can catch an opponent when he is unable to defend himself effectively from her attack, she can strike a vital spot for extra damage.
The ninja's attacks deal extra damage anytime her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the ninja flanks her target. This extra damage is 1d6 at 1st level, and increases by 1d6 every two ninja levels thereafter. Bonus damage from sneak attacks is precision damage. Should the ninja score a critical hit with a sneak attack, this precision damage is not multiplied. Ranged attacks count as sneak attacks only if the target is within 30 feet.

With a weapon that deals nonlethal damage (such as a sap, whip, or unarmed strike), a ninja can make a sneak attack that deals nonlethal damage instead of lethal damage. She cannot use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage in a sneak attack, even with the usual –4 penalty.

The ninja must be able to see the target well enough to pick out a vital spot, and must be able to reach this spot. A ninja cannot sneak attack while striking a creature that has concealment.

Personality Ren is loveably stupid and only a small portion of his stupidity is an act. Ren is easily swayed by handsome pirates and usually forms opinions based on how attractive the person forming the plan is. Although a ball of energy doing something Ren likes, the tiefling can be extra ordinarily lethargic doing something that Ren doesn’t care for, however Ren is quite good at avoiding notice and is usually capable of doing just enough to avoid punishment.
Ren usually talks in the third person, using the pronoun “it” in place of him/her or he/she, and that combined with Ren’s androgynous appearance often leaves folks confused. Ren is usually surprised when people can’t figure out the tiefling’s sex.

History

Spoiler:
Ren’s grandfather was a notorious pirate by the name of Remis “The Blackcat” Ossalot. Originally a halfling slave to a cruel Cheliax Admiral Remis used the confusion and chaos of the Cheliaxian civil war to sew the seeds of mistrust which would eventually allow him to stage a successful mutiny. Remis killed the admiral himself. Although he Remis wasn’t originally interested in piracy or the civil war it turned out that the late admiral was a member of house Thrune and thus fate conspired to turn the former slave into the terror of the sea. For close to fifty years the Blackcat stalked the waters around the Shackles, taking modest tributes from merchant ships, but brutally plundering ships flying Cheliaxian flags, and killing and torturing any Cheliaxian military he captured.
Numerous tales about the Blackcat circulated, but one that couldn’t be disproved was the halfling’s tendency to use anything and everything at his disposal to defeat his enemies, and this included dealing with outsiders like devils and rakshasa. One story even had Remis trading the life of his first born child in exchange for victory. If that story is true or not is a mystery, but Ren Ossalot was told that Remis was the tiefling’s grandfather, and this sparked the young tiefling to travel across the world in search of whatever family heritage might be found. Ren doesn’t know if Remis truly is a relative or not, but Ren can’t deny the fact that Ren feels an unquestionable draw to the sea . . . even though Ren’s cat like rakshasa blood hates the water.
