Reeta looked rather worried. Sure she had said that she'd give it a go in a bikini and boots but, she would only do that on a cloudless day with no wind. Otherwise it would be more stupid than bravado. And even if they started the race naked, and Reeta was trying to remember if they had, wouldn't they had quickly thrown on protective clothing with the first hint of a breeze. Windchill is no joke. She than had a horrible thought. Had someone actually found them, removed their clothing, and left them naked to frame her team? That would have been an extremely terrible act and could have led to the Bluetongue Brawler's death from exposure or something. But no one in their right mind would do that ...... would they? If so, they were scum in Reeta's mind. Or the whole thing was a big fat porkie from the start. But that would be easy to prove. Reeta say we go talk to Blue Tongue Brawlers. See what they say. And if Blue Tongues were that stupid, which Reeta doubts, more than tongues will be blue.
Reeta decides to find out a bit more about the history of the Balgirdtrek and of Balgird Bluetongue himself in order to get hints of the upcoming trials. Also, she enjoys a good story and this sounds like a epic saga. She starts with some of the race officials before going to talk to the previous winners, the Wyrdling Wayfinders, She doesn't really care if no one else decides to come with her. Also she is a little unsure about her team's chosen name.
Reeta was actually quite comfortable in the cold but she was a bit concerned about her other shivering team mates. She too decides to avoid a confrontation with the Ulfins. Jei. she says. Even with jacket, you still cold? Can't have that. We all need to be at peak. Come. Reeta fix you up. She scowls at the list. Hemp rope? Silk much better. Hemp, no get wet. She ends up purchasing a pup tent, some extra blankets, repair kit, healers kit (just in case), and a hatchet, out of her own money. She also makes sure Jal is wrapped up warm. You not snow goblin. You get double layer cold outfit. Keep you toasty warm. And we see what we can find to keep tail warm too
Reeta decides to get her own tent. Sure, snuggling next to someone warm is nice but, best not push her luck. Sleeping under the stars is also nice but .... not in a storm. She could dig a snow cave - if there's enough snow. Were you that one who had to sing an ode to her owl in Seedy's place? she asks Meadow. Kitty-Kat told me about that She will also see if she can get some fur scraps to fashion some sort of crude tail muff for Jai'Balt.
Once Reeta realises that Nal isn't interested, she'll stop doing it - which doesn't take long. She then turns to Jei'Balt. No have cold weather clothes? she asks, looking slightly concerned, and passing the kobold her jacket. May borrow mine until buy some. VC gave coin, should be able to buy here. She then facepalms as Meadow starts speaking loudly and quickly signs what she says. Rude she mutters to herself. At her first opportunity she will apologise to Nal for making her feel uncomfortable. Reeta still learning about longshanks she admits.
Reeta picks up the information and quickly goes through it. She also understands sign language but looks slightly confused at some of the more unusual variants the Venture Captain uses. So she signs back, not wanting to go through the interpreter, basically asking if, after the race, she could learn some of those variants, especially those she can adapt for underwater communication. Incidentally there is something about Reeta. She seems 'prettier' than the average goblin.
