So is anyone really going to the 8am event on Thursday Morning at Gencon? I was trying to sort through events and such balancing True Dungeon runs and PFS Thursday and Friday Night and didn't get a chance to buy up tickets for the organized play (except Sunday). I know everyone was buying up 4 tickets to get the discounted decks, but if I show up with generics will I get turned away? I mean who REALLY is gonna be up at 8am Thursday morning? ;)
I can't say I've played everything yet, but I'll get there. From what I've seen I've liked boons that last and continue with you. Boons that add to Diplomacy for a certain group, or tokens you can present to give you that little edge on knowledge local checks are just cool. On that note though, I have yet to see any boons that have to do with permanent housing. Perhaps in the future it'll come up. I know if briefly came up in one place that one could use a person's house as a base for a while, but that's not long lasting. Make it a PP purchase and allow it to work in a city or country. Maybe everyone stopped by my little 2 bedroom apartment in Absalom, saw some of my cool artwork, and got a temporary "blessing" or "+1 Appraisal" as long as it was a quick role play. Then if I REALLY got crafty, I'd build a little HirstArt/FatDragon Miniature for it just to show off :P In essence, Give me land! :)
So I recently ran this mission for my budding group of players (Woot my city has 8 on our roster now, up from 0 in September). The question came up, "Where is this Museum?" I read through the Mwangi mission over and over and all I could gather was that it was in Absalom. Wouldn't you know though, that one of my newest players (a researcher in any game she players) pulls up a map on her phone and says, "Where?" She showed me this image:
I couldn't find anything in 0-05 to say what section of town it was in, so I took a stab in the dark, but now I want to go back and really nail it down before I end up back there again and get asked that impossible question. Did I miss something? Is it there and just not marked?
Along with that thought you could use an idea of a "Christmas Carol"... Maybe a Past, Present and Future targeting a miser old Scrooge-like character where the party replaces the traditional "Ghosts" and are instead equipped with various wands and spells and maybe a "set" or two to accomplish turning the Scrooge into a happy guy by the end of the night. I think it would be a lot of fun, plenty of Role Playing, and general Yule-Tide laughter. After all, the entire goal is to make the Scrooge feel like he's been through time and visited different places, all to convince him to be a "good" guy. I know I'd run it for my players :)
So I recently bumped into the Pathfinder Society at GenCon and then again at DragonCon. I love the premise and the idea that your character goes with you, that scenarioes are a reasonable length (Someone said 4-5 hours), and that you offer various boons for purchases (At least that's what Chris Jackson said when I had a lengthy conversation with him at his Con booth). So now to get involved...Problem is the closest events are 85+ miles away. Quite a lengthy drive! I live in the capital city (Montgomery, AL) and you'd think there'd be some kind of presence here, but alas there is not. Can someone give me some suggestions on what to do? I was thinking about messaging the other Directors and get ideas, but figured I'd throw this up here as well. Looking forward to hearing what the community has to say :) Ran. |
