I assumed that top-left hallway is what Roland was mentioning, and I'm cool going that way.

There is a portcullis leading into the sarcophagi room from the empty room, but I think Roland tried to open it and it didn't budge.

In the last GM message, you mentioned possibly the light flickering. Are these rooms lit with torches on the walls, just our lights, or is there a magical light aura sort of thing?

Rafael stares as the orc fades away into nothing, its words echoing in his ears. He leaves Ingra to finish off the remaining orcs (with the assumption they don't disappear, also) as he slowly makes his way toward the cook pot, a blank look on his face. "He said that their leader and shaman are dead. They argued and have been here for days, apparently. He said he just wants to go home." He turns and looks back at the group. "I wonder if we'll be lucky enough to get that pleasure.

He inspects the pot and gags at the smell. "How's everyone doing on food? If we get hungry, I can make this edible tomorrow...if tomorrow is a thing here."

Hearing a series of loud thuds behind him, Rafael turns to see a number of orcs laying on the floor. "Woah! I love that spell! Let's get them while we can!"

He moves up between Ingra and Phari, puts his crossbow to the orc's (#6) head, and, with a grimace, plunges a bolt into it.

Coup de Grace: 2d8 ⇒ (7, 3) = 10

5-foot-step and Coup de Grace. Also, from this spot, would I be able to see Orc 11 and do a Spellcraft check to identify the spell being case (it doesn't require an action)?

Looking over his shoulder and seeing Roland readying his shot, Rafael reaches back and places his hand on Roland's arm. "Not sure how I hit it, but don't you miss." A warmth emanates from Rafael's hand into Roland's arm.

Rafael steps back passed Phari as he spots the orcs preparing for the fight. "Ingrid! Fall back and give Phari a clear shot for his spell!" Rafael aims at the only orc he can see and squeezes his trigger.

I'm guessing shooting by Ingrid will give the orcs cover (+4 AC) because of how narrow the hallway is?

Rafael tilts his head and narrows his eyes in response to the gunman's suggestion. "If we can restrain any we keep alive, I'll talk to it, but," he runs his hand over the wound from the last orcs. "We kill the rest."

Ear close to the door, brow furrowed, Rafael catches some words before stepping away and back to the group. He leans in close and whispers, "There's at least five of them. I think they were teleported in here, like us. They seemed confused about where they are. I'm not confident in my ability to talk to them, so Phari, I think we draw them out then you knock them out." His eyes glance across each member of the party, as if to ask if they have any better ideas.

Rafael picks up a couple words and holds a hand up. "One second. I speak orcish," he says softly, stepping to the door. "Let me listen." Standing next to Ingra(?), he eases his ear close to the door to try and make out what he can of the conversation.

As the group walks back into the room they first found themselves in, Rafael points to the portcullis across the room. "I'm with Roland in thinking we check out what's behind that gate over there before we head up the stairs."

Once into the room, Rafael walks over to the doorway leading to the room with the fountain and peers in.

Welcome back! I did two Channels for 7hp total right after the orc fight.

With a smile, Rafael lets out a single "ha", gently elbowing Phari. "Ingra, who are you talking about, cause I know we're both young compared to you." He pauses in stride, a look of regret crossing his face. "I, uh, I mean, not saying you're..old, or anything." He quickly adjusts his stride to put the other party members between himself and Ingra.

Running his hand along the stone wall, Rafael's eyes glance around the hallway's walls and ceiling. He bobs his head in response to Roland's suggestion, letting out a long sigh. "Yeah, might as well while we're over here."

Thanks for the clarification with the stairs. I forgot that part of "floor doesn't necessarily equal level". I'll make sure just to do "stairs up" or "stairs down".

Rafael enjoys the colorful light show as the group makes their way to the first room they found themselves in. As they approach the southwest door, Rafael lays a hand on Ingra's shoulder. "I hate to keep asking you to take the lead, but, well, you saw how bad I got beat up earlier." He chuckles. "Hopefully, Desna's guidance can be a small offering." His hand emits warmth as he gives a half-cocked smile. He steps toward the back of the group, drawing and loading his crossbow. He aligns himself to have a clear shot at the door and lets everyone know he's ready when Ingra is.

After the group spends a few minutes feeling around the hallway and concluding it's a dead-end, Rafael pulls a bolt out and kneels on the floor in front of him. He starts scratching the stone, drawing out the floor as he remembers it, labeling doors and rooms. "I'm not sure where we should go next, but we've gotta keep moving. If it's worth anything, maybe we should go back to the start." He looks around at the endless stone. "By the way, does anyone have any idea how long we've been in here?"

Rafael whistles. "I sure am glad that whatever made this place made a quick way for you guys to get back to us." He pauses in thought. "Though that could mean they're watching us..." He looks at Phari, "for better or for worse."

He bends down and picks up a stone, casting a quick spell causing it to glow. "Hey, Phari. Could your presdi.." Rafael's voice trails off, "..fancy fun spell do anything with this light?"

Rafael explains that there is the one door left in the trap door room they did not examine. If everyone agrees, he asks Ingra to lead them down the Orc hallway, pointing out the illusionary hanging corpses. During the walk, Rafael questions Ingra and Roland. "So, uh, while we have a moment. Where did you guys go after touching that magical doorknob?"

After a few moments of looking through the door, Rafael quickly steps away with a shudder. "Ok, we need to take a minute. There's a thing hanging from the ceiling just on the other side of the door. It's about this big," he holds his hands about 18" apart,"and has tentacles that are about 3 feet long." He shudders again. "My guess is that it's going to drop on the head of the first one of us who walks through there." He looks back at the door. "I couldn't see anything else, so if we're going through there, we need to somehow open that door and keep back at the same time."

Seeing that Ingra couldn't force the door open, Rafael holsters his crossbow and approaches the door. "I can't do this much more today, but I think we should take the stuck door as a sign and see what's making that noise first." He steps passed Ingra and places his hand on the door.

Rafael will look through the door either two minutes or until he can identify the thing making the noise.

Coughing at the sudden stench, Rafael looks down and sees the orcs melting. He takes the collar of his shirt and pulls it up over his nose and mouth. "This has to be more illusion magic. Living things just don't melt, right?" He notices Roland's motion and steps up next to him, loading his crossbow. "Whatever's behind that door," he whispers to Roland and Ingra, "it's been there since before the orcs showed up." Rafael holds his crossbow to his shoulder, but keeps it pointed to the floor.

Rafael walks toward the center of the room, carefully stepping over the dead orcs.

"The trap door room was empty when we came in here. They must've come from somewhere else. Big oafs like that, I doubt they've been stalking us. Maybe they just stumbled in here."

He points to the door the orcs came through. "That hallway leads back to the room with the trap door," he says to Roland and Ingra. "We haven't had a chance to get to the two other doors in here." As he says that, his eyes fall on the displaced pile of trash. He scrunches his face. "Ignore the trash. There's, uh. There's nothing in there."

He begins pulling up his sleeve. "Now, usually, I would charge for this, but seeing as you all saved my skin just now, consider this first one on the house." He lays his hand on the tattoo on his forearm, takes a deep breath, and exhales slowly while quietly saying a prayer to Desna. A wave of warm energy begins to flow from his body, and envelopes everyone in the room.

Rafael catches his breath as the pain begins to set in. He grimaces and half-turns to Roland, eyes still looking at the orcs.

"We'll talk about the stupid doors in a minute," he forces out in between labored breaths. "First, we need to figure out what to do with the two knocked out orcs. I don't think they're illusions, like the goblins were. If they don't turn into puddles in the next couple seconds, they're waking back up and they're going to be mad." He loads another bolt into his crossbow. "I say we take no chances. Ingra, if you and your hammer would like to do the honors," he says as he aims at the unconscious orc closest to her.

Rafael dodges the orc's attack then flinches at the explosion from the gun. "Woah! Where'd you come from," he yells in as happy of a tone as he can muster. "Where'd these orcs come from, while we're at it?!" He takes another step back, loads another bolt and fires again.

Yeah, I was shooting the closest one, I guess I was just unsure of which one that was number-wise. I know #5 was the one that charged at me first, so I assumed that was the one I hit for 4 damage. Then #5 hit me for 7, then I FFS away and hit #5 for 1 damage.

Rafael recoils from the impact, briefly losing his breath as eyes go blank. He stumbles back (5-foot-step away) and shakes the cobwebs out. He focuses back on the orc, his hand deftly loading another bolt. Rafael plants his foot, steadies and braces himself, takes aim and fires back at the orc (#5?)

I really wish I hadn't read that last post right before bed lol I laid awake trying to figure out a plan. I just woke up, so I'll post what I figure out later today.

Also,completely unrelated, my wife and I just adopted my aunt's cat. She moved and couldn't take him with her. We have a cat already, so now begins the slow process of introducing them lol

Rafael pulls another bolt and loads it into the crossbow, taking aim at the Orc closest to him.

He then moves 10ft. north along the wall.

Rafael sees Phari fire before he himself can see what it is. As the orcs(?) come into the room, he squeezes the trigger and lets an arrow fly at the same orc Phari shot at. He quickly loads another arrow and fires again (at the same orc, or the closest to Phari, it that first one is dead/gone).

Rafael tries to take a look at these things and determine if they're another illusion or actually real.

Rafael pulls his hands out, shaking the gunk off. "Ugh, all that for nothing." As he stands up, his attention is drawn to noise coming from behind the iron door. Before he can act, he hears another noise coming from the hallway he and Phari entered from. He quickly finishes wiping the trash off his hands on his pants and pats Phari on the shoulder. "We can finish getting cleaned up later," he whispers, grabbing his crossbow off his hip.

He moves across to the southwest corner of the room, blessing himself as he goes, and trains his crossbow at the door.

Again, Rafael waits for a moment as the water settles, before chuckling and shaking his head. "At the very least, I can keep us from being dehydrated, since it seems to not do anything else," he says, taking a step away from the sludge seeping from the pile. He sniffs the air, and gives a smirk to Phari. "That spell can clean me off, right? I think I remember seeing someone get mud off their cloak coming in from the rain one time." Rafael turns back to the pile. He exhales. "It's just trash. It's no worse than blood." He steps up to it, kneels down, and plunges his hands into it.

I guess it would be a Take 20 on Perception to look through the trash.

"That's one way to do it," Rafael exclaims. He slips passed and into the room, pausing to look up at the offensive mural on display. "Well, that just reinforces my thought on the decorating here." His eyes fall on the trash. He holsters his crossbow and rolls up his sleeves, muttering to himself, "Let's see if there's anything of interest in there." He says a short prayer Phari's heard once before, then slaps his hand on his tattoo, producing two gallons of water from the air above the pile of rubbish.

I'm not actually sure how big this pile of trash is, so whatever happens happens lol.

Rafael brings his face close the body and begins examining it, the smell of decay stronger this close. However, as he continues his investigation, he begins to realize that the bodies are the same as the goblins and homunculus before. He sighs and hangs his head, both of relief and disappointment. "These aren't real. Or, they're as real as the goblins and the homunculus were." He begins to make his way to the door with Phari, pushing one of the bodies as he passes. "Who or whatever brought us here has bad taste in decoration."

He sees Phari offering his dagger, looks at the door, then back at Phari. Rafael gestures his arm out. "After you."

Oddly enough, Phari has a higher strength score than Rafael, so you can try. If you do try it, he'll cast Guidance on you.

Rafael slowly approaches one the corpses, recalling the training he received from his parents. "I guess this answers your question of where everyone is," he says, half turning back to Phari, his eyes not averting from the cropses. Looking closer, Rafael says a prayer to Desna and inspects the corpse, trying to determine how it died.

Rafael sighs dejectedly as he and Phari make their way down the hallway. "Something tells me it's going to be a while until we get out of here." He raises his eyes up toward the ceiling. "Desna, this is not the kinda of exciting adventure I wanted from you," he says in a hushed toned, quietly laughing at the situation.

Rafael chuckles at the gnome's exasperation. "That sarcophagus room could be a break from the boredom. How about we check out this hallway, and if there's nothing there, we, against my better judgement, try out the creepy room possibly full of dead people?"

If Phari agrees, Rafael makes his way down the hall in front of them, crossbow in hand.

Rafael bounces off the door and shoots a shrug and a half smirk down at Phari. "Guess I didn't fare any better. How about we take a moment and work this out?"

Rafael is OK with taking 20 to get the door open.

Seeing Phari's feet slide across the floor as he tries to push the door, Rafael cracks his hands and neck. Saying a quick prayer, he braces himself against the door, takes a few quick shallow breaths, and heaves himself into it.
