Deck Handler

Ravager spots the vampire queen at the same time Damiel does, but stands back while Damiel takes a shot with his rifle. Seeing that the shot was a solid hit, and Damiel needs to stop and reload his rifle, Radovan leaps into the opening with his Backsword and Sai both shining in the glow of fiery light that Radovans hands are giving off, as Norge rages within him.

Reveal Vampiric Backsword +3 for 1d8+1d6+3+1d6 combat (bury Quick-Change Mask). +1d4 Single-weapon style. Discard Sai for +1d4 (bury Dreamstalker). +1 Norge. Banish Elder Ice Elemental from Norge for +1d8+4 (bury Neferekhu). Tarlin discards Blessing of the Oathkeeper for 2 dice (burying something).

Wincing once more into the burning sun, Radovan quickly scurries back into the vault for shade. This sun is getting worse and worse... he pauses to recover before proceeding.

Digging around a new section of the vault, he spots some sealed canopic jars. His (usually) friendly head in a cage whispers something to him about taking a closer look at those... so he moves over to them and cracks one open. A small millipede crawls out... but not just any millipede. This is one made of pure crystalized thoughts, the head tell him. Something that will make one smarter... fascinating. Radovan picks it up and looks closer... the thing seems to be almost reaching for him. Throwing all caution to the wind, and at the advice of a mummified talking head, Radovan places the thing on his shoulder. It quickly scurries up his neck and disappears into his ear. Hmm... maybe not his finest moment, but it could've been worse? That's when he's suddenly wracked by pain as the creature burrows into his brain. Radovan collapses to the ground, his head feeling like it'll split open... and then nothing. The moment is gone, he's still alive... and feels a bit more aware of his surroundings too. Maybe the crazy head was right afterall?

Wandering through the vault he finds himself in a temple area. Not where he'd wanted to be... no, he'd rather have another shot at that vault. Luckily with his new awareness, he'd been dragging his cane in the sand behind him, and can quickly and easily find his way back in. See, this is already paying off...

After a break in the vented area, Radovan moves back into the vaults. He finds himself picking up the pace as the sun burns through the volcanic ash... ever since that encounter with the vampire it's been more difficult to be in the light... almost painful. He stops to catch his breath once he's back in the comforting darkness... and finds something there.

Reload Vizier to examine Vault #1: Hand of Glory, then discard Vizier to explore.

Ah, a withered old hand. His talking skull in a cage seems eager to help him pick it up. Maybe he's hoping that we enough more pieces we can build him a body? Not likely to happen... especially as he feeds his demon Quang the powerful magic of the hand, leaving it a drained husk. A more-drained more-husk? Whatever...

Suffered Poison damage, display a monster (Furies of the Drowned Desert, AD6) next to Fell.

Having finished cleaning out the volcanic areas, Radovan moves inside to the vault. The sulfur from the vents has settled deep into this area, which would definitely hurt his companions but Radovan takes a deep breath, feeling reinvigorated by the poisonous fumes.

Free Exploration - Vault #1: Blessing of Osiris

As he enters the vault he stops at a small shrine to Osiris, slipping a mask on to give himself the visage of a priest of the faith. And apparently even gods can be fooled by his disguises, as Radovan feels the blessing of the god upon him.

Continuing deeper into the vault, he spots a magical trap, meant to encase a person in deadly burning tar. He laughs at it, taking a scoop of the tar in his hands to warm them up as he fiddles with the controls of the trap, successfully disarming it and clearing the way to proceed.

As he continues forward... he finds himself back outside in the volcanic area once more. Apparently this vault is also a bit of a maze... Radovan sits down for a second to ponder this before heading back inside.

Radovan moves to the temple to join Tarlin and Hayato already there. Still distracted by the Sphinx's riddles, he wanders into one room without entirely taking it in. Suddenly finding himself face to face with a massive elemental construct, Radovan stumbles back. Luckily, as it raises its many arms to attack, a Sand Elemental that he'd made friends with earlier, recognizes the danger and jumps in the way. It absorbs all of the various elemental attacks into itself, then falls back to let Radovan attack it. Leaping forward with his sai in one hand, and flames in the other, he easily melts and tears the creature apart. Then he stops to sit down and contemplate why he's been so distracted recently... it almost got him killed, here.

Sure enough, a new challenger appeared. A Naga. The half snake woman approached him and stared at him with her hypnotizing eyes. And then charged, swiftly beating her about the head several times with his cane, until she dropped. Norge felt strength at this success, and drew power from it.

And again a door opened, and a ghoul emerged. Although it appeared to be an easy foe, knowing how diseased and dangerous the undead can be in this part of the world, Radovan didn't want to take any chances. He activated Norge's newly powered up hellfires, and made sure to burn the ragged corpse to ash before letting up, and turning around for his next victim.

Steeling himself, Radovan held his attack for a few minutes to find the creature's weak spot. Having easily spotted it (thanks to Quang's help) he drops the sheath from his cane, revealing the blade within. Then he charges, activating the fires of Norge while muttering a prayer to Achekek to help guide his blade. With a quick series of precision strikes, he overwhelms the undead foe. But before he can deal the finish blow, the creature suddenly breaks and flees, running out of the arena into the nearby land. Sensing that although he's conquered the arena, this fight isn't over yet, Radovan stoops to retrieve his cane sheath, and prepares to exit the arena in search of his foe.

Suddenly an undead genie charges across the arena at him. It catches him by surprise, making him drop the Red Leathers he was just preparing to slip into, and then tearing at the Silken armor he'd been wearing as an undershirt. Muttering a quick prayer to the Guardian of the Tomb to help him overcome this beasts immunities, he quickly raises his cane, and with a series of quick flips and kicks uses it to completely subdue the creature, and reduce it to dust.

He has barely finished brushing himself off from his encounter when a swarm of scarab beetles erupts from the sand around him, crawling up his body and biting him with their poisonous chitin. He laughs at the poison as Fell Viridio draws strength from it, and then after a brief moment of concentration he shouts "FLAME ON!" and his body erupts with the powerful heat of Norge. As the beetles his and fall, he swats and stamps at them with his cane, crushing the last of them so that they can't return to bother anybody else.

Back to the examine again... place Shield Cloak on top of deck... and apparently that's all that remains. Then explore, encountering the Cloak.

Finally taking a moment to look around again, he spots a cloak that the genie must've been wearing. Unfortunately, it appears to be damaged beyond repair from their fight, so he uses it to mop his brow and then throws it aside. Now THIS is more like how an arena should be!

With his friends backing him up, Radovan approaches the creature. Tarlin holds up his holy symbol to weaken the thing... and Radovan launches himself at it. Powering himself up with the anger and might of all three of his patron demons, he manages to overcome the evil stench around the creature, and even overwhelms the undead with his own poison aura, something usually unheard of. At last, as the creature starts to stumble and fall Damiel pulls out a large tube and blasts the entire skirmish with a powerful blast of flame. Radovan laughs from amidst the fire, as it simple rolls over him but engulfs the undead's dried skin, burning him to ash.

Defeated a monster, display Mask of Stolen Mein to capture the always-useful "Caligni" trait (mostly just to get it out of my hand, and because I drew it far too late to be of any use)

With that, he heads back outside into the coming horde... and quickly spots a Caligni sneaking through the shadows trying to get a drop on the group. Radovan reverses the ambush, instead getting the drop on the Stalker and catching him completely off guard. As the would-be-ambusher falls, Radovan feels his magical mask absorbing its essence, and transforming his face into that of a Caligni. It would be useful to fool any others that might still be around... but probably not too useful overall.

Seeing that Damiel has been rather beat up by his recent fight, he tosses him the protective amulet he'd been wearing. "It looks like you need this more than me right now!"

Recharge Heister for +1d12. Bury Elder Ice Elemental from Quang for +1d6+4.
Check to Defeat - Disable 16: 1d8 + 6 + 1d12 + 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 6 + (12) + (5) + 4 = 30 - Defeated. Check succeeded, so Heister lets me draw a new Item (1: Alchemist's Kit).

Keeping an eye around the area, Radovan spots a nearby trap. Not sure what it does, and not wanting to find out, he quickly moves over to disable it. With an assistant looking over his shoulder, he deftly moves to disable the trap without setting it off. As he finishes, the assistant points out something underneath it. Nothing more than a simple alchemical kit, but as Radovan picks it up he looks over at the mess of used alchemical items that've been spread out at Damiel's feet. Stopping quickly inside the lab to check on the alchemist and hand off the bottle he'd recovered earlier, Radovan rolls his eyes as he sees yet another towering giant of massed undead moving towards them. Once more he runs outside to climb the thing, and tear it down like he did the last one.

Tearing it to pieces, and burning them as they fall, Radovan succeeds in toppling the creature. It's then that he realizes that this one was carrying an extra present for him... it was infested with a swarm of bugs as well, which crawled out onto him as he climbed it. As the bugs swarm over him and try to bite into him, Radovan laughs them off as their poison is entirely useless against him.

As he enters the lab, he spots a box of supplies on the counter. Rushing over, he notices that it's trapped... and laughs when he realizes it's a poison trap. He easily picks the lock, triggering the trap, and then mimes choking for a few seconds for Damiel's entertainment, before laughing it off and opening the box. Inside he finds a statue of Maat, and a crackling bottle. He pockets the statue, but isn't sure what to make of the bottle, so he sets it aside for Damiel to use later.

As he cleans up from the demon battle, Radovan hears a roar from outside. Sticking his head out, he spots a gigantic undead creature approaching. Glancing back towards Damiel he shrugs. "You stay here... I'll be right back."

Charging out, he wields his Sai and lights it up with flames. Using it as a climbing piton, he climbs up the giant mass of writhing bodies, poking and stabbing at as many of them as he can. Finally as he reaches the top, the thing falls apart. He collapses back to the ground surrounded by bodies, and then stands up and brushes himself off. As he looks back towards the Lab, he spots an Ifreet moving towards the door, and rushes back over.

Feeling that his fires won't help him so much this time, he instead summons a powerful poisonous cloud around himself as he charges the genie. He struggles briefly, but overpowers the creature to the point that it finally yields to him. "Alright, you win. I shall grant you one wish. But make it a small one..."

Looking around the field at the armies attacking, Radovan mutters, "I could definitely use some more friends right now...".

"And it is done," the genie says, disappearing in a puff of smoke and being replaced by a Caligni female. Seeing where she is, she looks around confused. And then, sensing that he's a friend, she uses her powers to warn him about what creatures are nearby, before fleeing into the relative safety of the Lab.

Hearing the girl describe the creatures around him, Radovan feels like the Girtablilu is a tempting target. Successfully sneaking up on it, he ambushes it and soon cuts the creature down with his Sai.

He stops briefly to take a few heavy breaths from the exertion of the constant fight. It might be exerting, but it's also exhilarating, and he can almost hear his demons purring from the joy of constant bloodshed, and the power that they've been absorbing from all of these fresh kills.

Although I should take the Sepulcher to spread out and get max coverage, I just can't deal with fighting an entire siege deck worth of monsters that are all immune to my poison. Radovan ignites his hand and sword with the flames of Norge, pushing his way to the center and swinging both in an effort to kill whatever is driving this thing... a few minutes later, he decides he must've been successful, because the wind dies down. Not sure what it was, but it's not now.

As Radovan enters the hall, he spots an ancient undead form rise up against him. It gestures and grunts, and one of its guards rushes forward to engage Radovan. Annoyed that the powers of Fell won't be any more helpful against these undead than they were against the machines before, he channels all the hot rage of Norge as he quickly mows down the undead guard, and rushes towards his lord. With his fists burning hot, Radovan sets them both alight and burns them to the ground.

After watching the cleric retreat from the mechanized creature, Radovan charges forward. Although disappointed that the thing seems unfazed by his fire or poison, Radovan simply lays a good old-fashioned beatdown on it. Dodging in and out of its legs, occasionally standing still and laughing as the thing tries to spray him with bouts of fire, Radovan and his demons enjoy this fight immensely. Finally, as he starts to get bored of it, he plunges the tip of his sword cane into a key component that he had recognized earlier, and the thing suddenly explodes in a cataclysmic ball of fire.

Radovan casually walks out of the ball of flames, his whole body glowing from the power of the demons within. "It'll give us no more trouble, Cleric. Don't you worry about that. Lets move on now, shall we?"

Entering the forge, Radovan finds a crown still in the mold. It appears that somebody had started to forge the crown and left halfway through. With direction from the talking head that Radovan carried with him, he tries to complete the crown. Unfortunately, even with the learned guidance, he manages to wreck the crown. The skull yells curses at him for his incompetence, but Radovan is used to that kind of treatment from it by now and simply ignores it while the cleric blushes nearby.

Moving on from the ruined crown, Radovan finds another half-complete assembly. Except this one is moving, and lurches towards him. With half of its mechanical arms still red-hot from the forge, it jumps at him and tries to rip off his skull. He unsheathes his sword cane, ignores the heat, and quickly disassembles the creatures with a few quick slashes of the blade.

Remembering the advice of his friend the Vizier, Radovan careful approaches a nearby effigy and gives it the respect deserved by Anubis, earning him more of the god's favour. An oracle nearby sees the gesture and offers her advice as well, which he gladly takes. For he can hear a construct of Set ahead, and knows that this fight could be trouble...

... the oracle shows him where another spell is, and warns him of the guardian nearby. "Yes, yes, I know about that. And this scroll is worthless to me!" he mutters... and then hearing the sound of the construct, once more considers approaching to fight it. Unfortunately, it's mechanical nature combined with his currently withered arms lacking their usual strength means that he fears he would be no match for the creature, and Fell Viredio would be no help. So he decides to simply warn his friends about it and stand back to let one of them take on the creature.

Then, a ghost rises up out of the tomb before him. As he prepares to attack, it raises its hands, signalling that it's friendly. After a short conversation, the ghost agrees to lead the group out of the sepulcher and away to other areas to finish off the rest of the undead in this place.
