Half-Elf Racial Traits:
•Ability Score Racial Traits: Half-elf characters gain a +2 bonus to one ability score of their choice at creation to represent their varied nature.
•Type: Half-elves are Humanoid creatures with both the human and the elf subtypes.
•Size: Half-elves are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
•Base Speed: Half-elves have a base speed of 30 feet.
•Languages: Half-elves begin play speaking Common and Elven. Half-elves with high Intelligence scores can choose any languages they want (except secret languages, such as Druidic).
•Elven Immunities: Half-elves are immune to magic sleep effects and gain a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.
•Adaptability: Half-elves receive Skill Focus as a bonus feat at 1st level.
•Keen Senses: Half-elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.
Low-Light Vision: Half-elves can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.
•Elf Blood: Half-elves count as both elves and humans for any effect related to race.

Background:

Quan-tum was born Adrian Quinn from a human mother who was having an affair with a Mierani elf who served as a diplomat to Korvosa. The Mierani enclave member, a married man and devoted father to his own children, was never a part of Adryan's life. The end result, Quan-tum never met or knew his biologic father. All he knew that he was one of the elven diplomats. What he lacked in a father figure he gain twice with his mother Julia Quinn.

Julia worked as a serving wench at a local pub. She worked full time in order to make ends meet. She was raise in the streets and never backed down from a fight. She would push over the customer if they ever got too fresh with her. Her life was devoted to raising young Adryan which ended when the lad was nine years old.

Julia Quinn died when young Adryan was only 9 years old, murdered by G Lamm for a couple of silver and copper pieces. That left young Adryan all alone to fend for himself. He lived in the streets for a couple of months with the other orphaned children. Too young to join a real gang, he and some other young children called themselves The Saplings, and they primarily stole food from merchants.

The other older gangs did not approve of The Saplings coexisting in the same territory so the older, much stronger gangs, made the Saplings disband and join the dominant gangs. Adryan was confronted by some older teenagers but the young lad refused to join. Declining an 'invitation' resulted in death so Adryan did a lot of running. His last confrontation with the rivaling gang led the boy to a Xian Tan merchant group, selling their ware and buying supplies. While being chased the young Adryan hid in one of these merchant's giant baskets. He stayed within the basket until he fell asleep. Eventually, Adryan exited the basket to find out that he was outside Korvosa. The merchants were quite surprised to see the stowaway among their midsts. Something sparked inside of him when he saw the outside, perhaps this was a part of his elven heritage, but he did not want to go back to Korvosa.

Adryan told his story to the merchants and they felt pity for him. The leader of the group, Quanja-Nim, decided to take in young Adryan. Sometime later he was accepted and the merchants opened up to the young boy and told him that they were a monk order. They have been traveling for some time and visiting the libaries is various cities. The monk order has a daily regiment of exercises and they trained in unarmed combat almost on a daily basis. Many months later Quanja-Nim decided to start teaching Adryan in the Arts Martial, nature and in philosophy. From the start of his training Adryan was renamed to Quan-Tum Quinn, Quan-Tum meaning little master.

Throughout the 12 years Quan-Tum and the monks travelled much of Varisia and it's many cities, visiting monasteries, churches and libraries. On Quan-Tum's 21st birthday they were a couple of days from Korvosa. Quanja-Nim told his adopted son that it was his time to depart from the group, that he must find his own way in the world. Quanja-Nim will go again back to the west to start their whole migration all over again.

Quan-Tum spent the first couple of days living in inns until his funds ran out, then he looked for a job in the Korvosan Guard. After testing his fighting prowess Field Marshall Cressida Kroft realized that Quan-Tum's talents is best suited as a scout, looking for oncoming trouble approaching Korvosa and to keep an eye out for the Shoanti tribes. He did not have the cumbersome armor that most fighters had and he looked almost.....homeless. His appearance quite deceiving.

• Jayden Jax - childhood friend now involved with gang.
• Jennyfer Hawks - local serving maid who reminds Quan-Tum of his mother. Like to watch her from afar and keeps an eye on her safety. Making sure that she does not have the same fate as her mother.


Quan-tum is a half-elf, 5'8" and 170 pounds. During his training he was forced to shave his head, like all of those who train. Now that he has returned to his home city of Korvosa, he has decided to let his hair grow enough in order to hide his dual heritage, especially his elven ears which is a sure give away.
