Paizo,
you guys rock.

Greyhawk for me was a little glowing ember, something gorgeous to look at, something surrounded by the ashes of its past a thing softly glowing with an honest brilliance.
A little ember that for me, would only got lit again and again, fed little scraps of wood and paper now and then, being whispered melancholic whispers of affection, blewn at and kept alive, by the people that sit under your proverbial roof. Oh the fun of watching it glow!
But alas, hence due to the departure of 2 loved magazines, and a splendid series of Adventure Paths, the poor little ember god fed a huge load of.. a huge load of something vile that made sure the ember would surely not glow ever again, unless lit by some otherworldy thaumaturgy powered by buckets of what.. possible energy?

In these few days of nerd crisis I have seen you showing us the skeletal works of a new fire. Something that I feel will start to burn ever as brilliant if not more than the previous one did.
My gods you sure do know what makes the beast tick! You Paizo as a whole do know how to create, how to work together and make it happen, you seem so healthy! Spunky and viral!

I know, I do know that the little glowing ember still has some time to glow yet, I wish it the most brilliant and sizzling petering out of embers ever.
I know memorial candles like Return to Castle Greyhawk will come allong. I do hope they are being followed upon in the future.

Guys, I do not know who exactly of you to adress but thank you.
And thank you for Pathfinder, I seems so much like the old but so much better. A fresh fire. I am looking forward to telling my players a story about ashes around it. I really do.

Yeah, Greyhawk is a fading brilliant ember, Pathfinder a new fire somewhere in an ancient forest, and Return to Castle Greyhawk a candle in a lodge surrounded by smelly electrical heaters.
I am looking forward to warming myself and maybe adding my own pieces of burnable stuff to your new adventure.

Paizo,
you guys just raised my Avanc!
thanks.

Does Sam have a web site where we can view his work?

I just wish he had,

as I said the man is quite the enigma on the internet. Not a gallery of work anywhere that I have ever found.
And that ladies and gentleman is a shame, because lots of great concept art and what not has been made by this man, the kinda pieces that make you say "Woah cool monster." and "SHeez I want to play a character like that." or "Man I just wish they had used the concept art and not this ugly redrawn by some-other-guy version."
Sam WOod just KNOWS how to draw cool demons.
Loved his living greyhawk journal stuff too, those things should get reprinted or bundled in a pdf package 3.5 style some time.. but that wont happen before all those issues are sold out or something? Amiright?

*tear*

A Greyhawk bible you say..
tis a crime its wasted!

*raises glass*

There I sat. Thinking myself to beget any wiser by searching on the internets for some info on the enigma that is Sam Wood. Perhaps even finding me some online galleries..
There I sat, musing to myself, that Sam Wood, his gorgeous concept art, it had such a Greyhawkish (as I felt it) feel to it. Raw, real, something, mostly just gorgeous.
I needed more. There was such a heavy lack of Wood material lately. What is that? What did you say Pen and Paper database? Sam Wood did what? Dragon issue number#290.. Iuz? E-bay.. NOW!

-now.
Well I didn't really cry. But my heavens. The concept art.. gorgeous Elona, the best Iuz, ever, period! Circle of eight, so old, real, ART!. So WoTC got this.. and more? This really really good great wonderfull concept art? These wonderfull old campaign setting paired with an artist that can make it work? Those lost to print and nowhere to buy Living greyhawk journals? Also with great art? These, these, diamonds those pearls!? Al behind bars and out of reach.. no reprints in sight. A new setting book that you cant buy anywhere anymore...
Dream with me people! Dream with me about a Leatherbound 400+ page thick campaign book, wrought with love, time, patience and passion, art that loves the sepia drenched pages it's printed on, words that inspire and matter, dream with me that Iuz never unleashed a ether horde. Dream with me about the beauty. Dream with me about a Dragon issue with a gorgeous Sam Wood Iuz on the cover, Dream with me about CORE-BELIEFS Iuz, Xan-Yae, Tharizdun. Put on your Podcasts where Erik Mona talks for hours and hours about greyhawk, dream with me about the Bakluni going further west. That a lot of the things that happened in the Living campaigns arent taken into account when IT happens. And that IT will be something remembered for. Mostly lets just keep on dreaming and scraping the internet and the old books for any data, keep on reading Dungeon and Dragon for the occasional wonderfull love. The passion people! Can you feel it?!
And wonder, who is Sam Wood? Just who is he?

-Cliché FR adventures. Hell.. back in issue #121, they proudly blurbed "Rediscover the Realms!" on the cover. Rediscover an adventure with drow, elves, spiders, spiderdrows, spiderdemons, spiderdrowdemons, en demondrows, AAAAND.. a half dragon bad guy on the last moment. Half-Dragon. Mind you this was in a issue with a gorgeous cover, some hot Iuz love, the styes, and the last of 4 beloved poster maps...
-More cliché FR adventures. The vampire arc. Nice idea. Boring crawl. Beasts of Malar. Go on! Kill lots of beasts! Lots! Werebeasts at that! And there was another one.. one with.. a vampire?
-Eberron murder mysteries. There are many more ways to make an adventure feel Noir and Pulpy. Lots of ways we havent seen yet. Go on and discover them. Also there is more to Eberron than just Sharn.

THis Ben Wooten guy, he's from WETA workshop me thinks.
May this kind of art grace the pages of WoTC DnD books very soon!

O my!
Congrats on this great great great series of adventures!
A delightfull ending!
Made me feel like finishing ToEE again!

So the party already had the help of Nidrama the fallen Movanic and the Celestial paladin and they also rescued an astral deva AND an Death Slaad, restored them and convinced them to help, they charmed the slaadi.
Dark Myrakul arrived and he got slaughtered real like.
Freed the demon prince, killed him.
Went to his plane, failed to kill him for real. (had to slay some extra EL 24 worth of Demons for that, without the help of the astral deva and the slaad, those 2 got killed by the demon prince)
...

...
......
...

So.
Grazzt's pissed (give him a reason not too the damn PC"s!)
sent's in his son.
Assasins succesfully kill 2 party members, and then themselves die. ( A Tiefling Ranger Assasin, A Babau Shadowdancer,Barbarian, and a Incubus sorcerer)

...
....

So.

I think I need Athux's statts now or some idea's of what he is and can do?
Anyone?
