DESCRIPTION

With a bloodline closer to her First World heritage than most fox folk, Fiona Volpe or Fairfox usually appears as a young human woman of considerable eldritch beauty with fair porcelain skin and a mane of silver hair. Fiona’s distinctive feature is her mesmerizing eyes that barely conceal a glint of mischief. At times, they can appear to be either very saucy when she is exercising her feminine wiles or a piercing glare that penetrates through one’s soul when upset. Without any training, she is naturally agile and moves with preternatural grace.

Fiona has a fox familiar named Vulpecula or "Little Fox" that can transform into a tattoo that she wears on her back. For the most part, Fiona keeps the tattoo covered and protected, but those who are highly perceptive will catch glimpse of a tattoo that seems to shift about and animate.

In terms of fashion, Fiona favors dark gothic style or macabre clothing that is frequently seen in Ustalav.

PERSONALITY

Fiona is true to her vulpine nature. For the most part, she can be a sly, cunning, and manipulating vixen who only looks after herself. In the past, this was not out of choice, but out of necessity to survive on the streets in a predominant human population. In order to do so and do it well, she must assimilate into human culture to a point that she almost believed in her own lie of being human.

While her sister Adamina is more extroverted, personable and charming, Fiona harbors a dark alluring sex appeal (c.f Elvira), a woman of little words, but what little words that comes out of her mouth has the most tremendous impact.

In the past, she has feared death and everything related to death, particularly the undead. But now, she has embraced it and is on the path of mastering control of the dead and living through her psionic abilities.

BACKGROUND

Fiona Volpe is the twin sister of Adamina Volpe. While her sister lived a life as a grifter conning men for petty coin to survive, Fiona wanted more. Her thirst for the hedonistic lifestyle and the fear of death drove her to the worship of Urgathoa. From her mentor and ex-lover, she quickly learned that in order to conquer the fear of death, one must embrace it.

While growing up as an orphaned street urchin in Korvosa, Fiona and her sister used their beauty and wiles to survive by freeloading off the men they seduced...or “suckered.” Her life took a turn when Fiona charmed her way into the graces of a wealthy necromancer named Kaine. Despite Kaine being an unattractive obese glutton, she found herself fascinated by his dark ways and saw the lavish hedonistic lifestyle he lived as her golden ticket from rags to riches. The two began a twisted romantic relationship of dom/sub and mentor/pupil that lasted for nearly a year in Ustalav. This relationship eventually caused a rift between her and her sister and the two parted ways.

Kaine never taught her the dark arts because he was less concerned about her training and more so about his carnal desires. He only mentored her in basic principles of necromancy, tools that she can use to develop an affinity and connect with the minds of the dead. Despite his lifestyle, Kaine seemed to always be on edge and one day confided in her that he was on the run. While a student long ago at the Korvosa Academae, he and his best friend summoned an extraplanar creature who helped them graduate, but had been accosting him to “collect.”

That moment came before Kaine had a chance to relocate. The mansion was assailed by supernatural forces and Fiona, out of fear for her own life, fled and abandoned Kaine to his fate. Her last image of Kaine was him fending off a beautiful extraplanar creature.

She gathered her wits and returned to the ruined mansion but Kaine was nowhere to be found. She was lost at this point but she remembered what Kaine told her. After Korvosa, he traveled to Geb to further his arcane training in necromancy in his quest for immortality due to his fear of death and losing his mundane luxuries, and there was no better place to do so than the Land of the Dead.

Following his footsteps, she traveled to Geb for the ultimate test. While in Geb, Fiona must use her wits, charm and psychic powers, to avoid falling prey to the undead denizens and then network among them.

Once established in the social circle of Geb, she returned to Korvosa and reunited with her estranged sister who became a pathfinder agent. Although Fiona had no desire to work for anyone or being part of any organization, her hedonistic desires got the best of her and she found the gold and the perks too good to pass up. Shortly after, she was confirmed as "Agent Fairfox."
