About Polo Lochsbrook
"If you're going to be a bear, be a grizzly." - Mahatma Gandhi
With a full red beard, Polo already doesn't appear your typical halfling. Not many of his kind can grow facial hair, but the fiery mane comes naturally to the young man, as did the explosive personality to match. While most halflings are cheerful and easy to get along with, Polo is a bit rough around the edges. However, true to his kind, he has a warm heart and a love for people, when they aren't pissing him off.
While wild and unpredictable in nature, Polo is still reasonably cultured. He reads on occasion, cooks his food and garnishes it appropriately, and bathes semi-regularly. He has spent his life in Rush, and has the rustic nature natural to a man of this region, but is no more "backwater" than they. Granted, the bar isn't set extremely high, but at least he surpasses it. His appearance, however, might lead one to assume otherwise.
Polo works as a handler and guide for Grommund's Trackers, a small outfit on the outskirts of rush that provides pack and hunting animals for those trekking into the nearby woodland, in addition to being a hunting outfitter. Polo works with the beasts of burden and prey, mainly dealing with hunting hounds and birds, though occasionally they come across something a bit more exotic. Bourbon would be such a beast.
Even as a cub, Bourbon is a large grizzly. A pack of hunters had run across his mother almost 3 months back while hunting stag, and took her life in a wild attempt to save their own. They soon came across her cub, whom they captured and sold to Grommund, the half-orc proprietor of the outfitters which bears his name. Polo has had the "honor" of rearing the animal with the hopes of supplying him for the more wealthy patrons who would desire the extra punch for more dangerous excursions. That was before the attack.
As rush fell under seige, Polo outfitted himself with with a sturdy axe and an untested by hopefully well trained mass of raw muscle and fur. Grommund would understand under the circumstances, and if not, Polo will deal with whatever may come should Rush survive the onslaught.
