Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
My apologies for poor posting frequency the last few days. Work and work travel are making it tough to do the important stuff. GM for the next week, please feel free to bot my character as needed. I'll try to keep up to date but it's going to be difficult. Chuul is coming to get you...Chuul is coming to get you all, Obed mutters once the monster heads down the stairs. Obed grabs the keys and uses them to open the property room. See previous loot roll. He'll grab any items that belong to the crew as well as anything else that looks valuable.

Obed hears the noise from downstairs. He grasps the necklace and calling upon the powers of the Deep Ones twists reality in such a way that what was once there is now here. Ripped from its home in warm salt water of the Southern Ocean, a fearsome Chuul appears in front of Obed and swings its eyestalks at Obed with obvious hatred for being forced to appear on dry land. "Kill all those that you find down the stairs. Do not stop until either you or they are dead," Obed commands using the power of the necklace to force obedience from the massive creature. Summon Chuul: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8 Chuul info: Your worst seafood nightmare come to life. A vicious sort of half-man half-crawdad, cursed with primal intelligence and blessed with a pair of razor-sharp claws. Strange things lurk in the stinking pools in caverns best forgotten and the chuul is one of them. If you spot one, your best hope is a heavy mace to crack its shell and maybe a little garlic butter. Mmmm. Instinct: To split

Obed gives the captain a mocking bow and mutters "As you wish Sir" before moving into the property room...before grabbing the party's belongings he does a quick search of the room to see if there is anything else of value. Loot: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 9 Something has useful information. Hmm...this battered journal looks like it may have useful information.

Obed grabs the bottle of rum and quickly soaks one of the padded chairs with it. He drags the chair to the door that the pirates had come through, shuts the door and props the chair against it. He then takes a torch and jams the handle of it into the space between the top of the door and the door frame. When the door is pushed open the torch should drop onto the chair which should catch fire quite handily and vigorously slowing down the pursuit a bit (and possibly setting that area of the barracks on fire.) Obed then asks the captain "Which way, up or down?"
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Human, you are already a dead man but you just don't know it yet, Obed thinks as he pulls himself to his feet and follows after the Captain. Discern Reality: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 1) + 2 = 8 Obed looks for something to use to slow down the pursuit...maybe a pot of bubbling gruel that he can throw on the floor to make it slippery or a bottle of alcohol that can be ignited using the nearby torch and a chunk of cloth turn from his tunic...

Obed does his best bullfighter imitation as he tries to dodge the on-rushing Grool. Defy Danger(DEX): 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3 And stunningly fails in yet another roll...Hello Lvl 3, I'm guessing you big brother Lvl 4 is going to be here soon as Obed leaves a trail of bad rolls littering his wake

Seeing the woman being held by Numeo slump in his arms following the Captain's blow, Obed decides he should make sure that she won't be able to raise an alarm. Obed whacks the woman on top of her head as hard as he can with his makeshift club. H&S: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10

Obed feels a backlash coming through the veil. He only has a split second to decide...he can either hold the veil open long enough to heal the Captain but suffer his own pain or close the veil quickly which would eliminate the chance to heal the Captain. Almost without thought, Obed closes the hole in the veil and thus doesn't heal the Captain. Shocking I realize that the kindly cleric didn't sacrifice his own well-being for his leader. Looking at the odd trio in front of them, Obed comes up with a strategy. "Let's charge 'em and cut their throats," Obed suggests with real enthusiasm.
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
Obed releases his hold on the emotion of the two guards he had charmed earlier assuming either survived...so now just carries a -1 on cast spell rolls until communing again. "Speaking of injured, Captain hold still for a moment as you're in need of a bit of healing yourself," Obed says in a pleasant (for Obed) voice. Grasping the captain by his injured arm, Obed calls forth the power of Father Dagon. Please grant me your healing power so that I can keep this fool alive to bring me more people to sacrifice in your honor. Cure Light Wounds: 2d6 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 - 1 = 4 Yet another wonderful roll Obed again fails in his effort to pierce the veil to reach his god.

In the seaside village that Obed grew-up in the glittering eel was considered a delicacy but unfortunately had been hunted to the point of extinction near the hamlet. However, the old timers still told tales of hunting the glittering eel and the dangers of temporary blindness if someone was stung with the shocking stinger and the various treatments that were used.
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
Feeling invigorated by Dagon's touch, Obed tells the elf to hold perfectly still...he then pokes a flipperly finger into each eye, eliciting a grunt of pain from the elf. "Hmmm...definitely looks interesting...too bad Quelthas is blind, he'd been fascinated to see this phenomenon. Of course, sometimes the shocking sting of the glittering eel has been known to cause temporary blindness. I think I may have read about a folk cure..." Spout Lore (electricity related blindness): 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3) + 1 = 7 "By the way, I'm pretty sure that the cure is very painful and probably leaves some scarring..."

Good ol' Obed Marsh the kindly healer... +1 drive (didn't get to kill quite as many as hoped but getting there)
I think that gets Obed to 15 XP...spend 8 for the level up move...leaving 7 XP (so, the poor misunderstood cleric is only 2 points from level 3). Chose a new advanced move

Obed will increase his Constitution score to 16 (increasing HP by 1) Obed feels the unfeeling gaze of Father Dagon turn to him as he gets in his little verbal jab to Numeo. Normally Dagon is beyond care of such trivial occurrences but the evil god has actually taken some interest in the interplay between his chosen one and the so-called prophetic one. Obed suddenly feels healthier than ever before and he realizes that calling on Dagon to heal with his special searing brand of pain is actually a quite trivial task as the words and power to do so lodges in his soul.
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
Obed luxuriates in the feel of the rainwater pelting down onto his hide. First time I've been wet enough in a few days. Obed slinks through the rain until he catches up with the captain and Nuemo...finding them talking he joins in the conversation. "Shame about that little goblin inventor isn't it Nuemo? Just fell right out of the balloon to his certain death. You remind me of him in some ways." Obed grabs the bandages from the captain with a grunt of gratitude and uses both to heal 8 points of damage.

Obed obediently holds out his hands for the manacles looking innocent (as innocent as he can) even while again calling on Father Dagon's help to expose the will of this new guard to the compulsion to be his friend. He grasps the man's wrist and projects his will into the man. On-going enchantment in place so -1 on spell casting Charm Person: 2d6 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) - 1 + 2 = 8 The second guard's will is more difficult to influence but by calling for a large influx of power from Father Dagon, Obed is able to charm the second guard. However, he can feel a bit of a backlash from Father Dagon to again to be called on without an appropriate sacrifice of a human. -1 to all future casting until commune again. "I have to run my friends. Good luck with the crocodile. I have faith in you," Obed says and gives a small evil chuckle at his words even as he breaks into a run to follow the captain.
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
I took the human starting move for the cleric (gain a wizard spell). Charm Person is the wizard spell I selected because it makes so much sense from what Obed wants to do. Charm Person Level 1 Enchantment ongoing The person (not beast or monster) you touch while casting this spell counts you as a friend until they take damage or you prove otherwise.

Obed reaches a hand out and grasps the most senior guardsman around his ankle. Calling on Father Dagon and his unworldly powers, Obed rips a small slice of the veil away from the man's mind and inserts his will through the opening. Cast Spell (Charm Person): 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 3) + 2 = 10 Feeling the man's will crumble under his assault, Obed quietly says to the man "I am not the one you are looking for. I can move along. You need to protect the city by destroying that beast." With a slightly unnatural tone in his voice, the man tells his squad mates "this is not the one we are looking for. He can move along. We need to protect the city by destroying the beast." The guardsman then bends down and helps Obed to his feet.

Damage from other Goblin's attack..Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6...stats updated. Even as Obed abandons the balloon he is busy wacking the goblin about his head and shoulders with his makeshift club but he is unable to connect with a solid blow. H&S: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6 What a shock...another XP However, the goblin has a different idea...he uses his whacking stick to speed Obed's fall so that instead of landing gracefully on his feet, Obed impacts with a sickening thump on top of another guardsman. Luckily for Obed the guardsman took the brunt of the damage but Obed still is a bit hurt himself by his rapid descent. Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Stats are up to date
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
Obed coughs as smoke fills the balloon's passenger compartment. Taking advantage of the opportunity provided by the concealing smoke, he grabs one of the goblins and throws it at the crocodile like beast. Volley: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6 Oh joy, another XP Unfortunately, the smoke filling Obed's vision has blurred his vision so that the goblin misses the crocodile and instead smashes into one of the guards who were brave enough to confront the beast knocking him unconscious. Even worse from Obed's point of view, he sadly underestimated a goblins ability to see in a smoky environment and thus did not realize the the last goblin had witnessed his treacherous act...did not realize until he was struck in the back by a goblin whacking stick. Damage from goblins attack: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
Obed's brain kicks into high gear seeing the soft underbelly of the beast exposed. Even though the weird flying contraption he's piloting has begun to smoke, he reverses all of the knobs and levers determined to lift the beast off the ground making it an easy target. Pilot: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 3) + 1 = 5 Adding an XP...at this rate I'll be level 5 while everyone else is at 1 ;) Unfortunately, the line holding the beast tethered to the balloon gives way with an audible snap...even as the balloon engine begins to pour out smoke and the balloon begins to move up and down in a random manner.
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
Obed winces as he sees his commanding patsy trying to slide down onto the beast. Humans are so stupid Obed rapidly twists some knobs and pulls levers trying to move the balloon lower so that the captain doesn't sail directly into the monster's mouth. Pilot Balloon: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 2) + 1 = 7
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
As the unseen stalker moves ever closer to them Obed decides to try to distract it from its chase. He stumbles 'accidentally' into Filligree and his massive bulk unfortunately knocks the goblin right over the railing and into the path of the chaser. "Oops" Not sure what Move that would be...I'm voting for some sort of strength move... Some Move: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
Obed hops into the balloon's gondola as soon as the Goblin indicates it's okay to do so. "Must get away from the hunter in the ground." As soon as the others clamber aboard, Obed undoes the lines holding the balloon to the ground. Once Filigree has the balloon off the ground Obed rudely shoves him away from the controls and turns the balloon in the direction of their objective. He's stunned to see Quelthas running In the air!. "Get on board elf! he shouts as he wildly tucks on the levers that somehow activate the machine to move forward. Pilot Balloon: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 3) + 1 = 10 Pilot in the right direction.
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
Something lured whatever that was away. Obed stands on his perch for a full minute waiting to make sure that nothing was going to come leaping out of the ground at him. He attempts to aid the captain in aiding the goblin being highly motivated to get off the ground as quickly as possible. Aid: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5 However, he quickly undoes the positive aid that the captain was providing as his clumsy hands manage to knot the wrong ropes together somehow.
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
Obed quickly scrambles on top of a box trying to get as high off the ground as possible and yells out to the others "Something's coming...through the ground...it's bad.". Obed tightens his grip on his makeshift club and waits to see what happens.
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
Obed looks around suspiciously as the feeling of being watched returns. He reaches out to touch the veil that connects all things and lays a mystical hand upon it trying to discern what or who is watching. Dicern Realities: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 6) + 2 = 11 What should I be on the lookout for? Who’s really in control here? What here is not what it appears to be?

The bored looking goblin assistants points a hand at the goblin working on the complicated piece of equipment in response to the Captain's question. Obed walks casually up to the distracted goblin and places his hand on the small goblin's shoulder as he calls on the power of Father Dagon. Father Dagon - hear my plea! Make this ugly goblin truly be charmed by me. Cast Charm Person: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5 That's just not good

As Numeo works on his concoction and the other Landlings talk about the plan, Obed settles himself back into his quiet corner and calls on Father Dagon for guidance. Father Dagon, your humble cleric beseechs you to provide him your Divine Guidance on the easiest way for him to successfully take the small boat. Your servant promises to sacrifice one guard in your honor during the foray into the guardhouse. During his communion, Obed concentrates to remember the Charm Person spell instead of Cause Fear.
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
"Kill them all and take the boat," Obed suggests to the Captain. He then grins a bit and adds "our alchemist must have a trick or two up his sleeve to be able to distract guard while the rest of us slip inside. I have complete faith in him."
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
Obed's wheezy breathing continues and then he looks at the Captain. "It is your call, you know that all I care about is taking care of my crewmates.". He turns his dead eye gaze on Numeo and adds "After all we are just like family," with a sharky grin.
Deep One Hybrid; XP 9; HP 11/24 Cleric of Father Dagon/Lvl 2
Obed listens to the humans talk without expression on his ichthyoid face. The membranes over his eyes slowly open and close as he watches their 'Savior.' His black eyes never move as he stares straight ahead. However, when Melisande mentions Earth's Pure snatching of the brinie's he bares the shark-like teeth that fill is oversized mouth. "Where can I find these Earth First scum and their leader Slade?" he asks Melisande in a phlegmy voice.

Obed will take the least outlandish looking outfit from Grimsly and pull it on. He finds the darkest part of the area (likely where the cots are) and curls up on the floor to commune with Father Dagon. Assuming that it's a good spot to Commune, Obed will lose his -2 modifier...for now keeping the same two spells memorized (Cure Light and Cause Fear) but may change them before heading out depending on what the group wants to do. After communing and eating his fill of fish (preferable raw, most preferable still alive), Obed speaks up. "Wench, why do you fear magic so? What happens if I call on my powers back in your warehouse?" Then turning to the others, "the Landlings of this town owe us a debt that can only be cleansed by blood. I say we go back and take our vengeance on what's left of their constables. The rest of you can recover your stolen gear at the same time."

Obed listens with disgust as the old man tries to rally his crew. If I didn't need you Landling, your speech would be enough to make me cut your throat. That's what happens when you roll a 4. ;) Obed follows the woman even as he sees Numeo sniffing the air like a dog. "Good work Numeo, keep it up.
