![]() "Well if it is going to come down to hunting we are going to be relying on the skill set of someone else. I have never been all that inclined to the outdoor sorts of distractions." Petriak admits as he looks from Raxus to Bridgette, both proponents of going out and dealing with the bandits. "We should be careful since we know so little of these bandits, I for one am not in the a rush to end up dead trying to do something noble. I'd much rather do something practical and profitable, especially if it ends with good food, wine, and a comely bed companion or two." ![]()

![]() "I prefer the subtle art of enchantment actually. Why blow my enemies to pieces when I can turn them to a more productive use." Petriak admits as he sizes up their newest companion with interest. "Though I know a few spells of utility when enchantments do not prove enough. With our mapping trip coming up I'm sure your extra eyes will be greatly welcome Flit. We should all turn in early so we can begin exploring the area around Oleg's tomorrow. I know I need proper time to restore my magical reserves." ![]()

![]() "Greetings Flit, as Bydar said I am Petriak Krupt, Sorcerer to our little traveling group. As for Happ he is a new recruit to our numbers and has recently entered my employ."Petriak greets the new adventurer with a friendly smile after completing his arrangements with Svetlana and Oleg to have Happ reprovisioned. "Your timing is impeccable as we were just talking over the possibility of heading out to map and explore the region. Much later and you might have missed us and I'm sure we can make use of any pair of eyes for the job." ![]()

![]() Cool having another possible lined up sounds pretty smart. Even if Mark does come back an alchemist might be a welcome addition to the team. In a game like this we get him set up with a lab and he could be brewing up all kinds of nasty surprises for our enemies. ![]()

![]() Sorry guys I wasn't asking Svetlana to embroider everyone's tunic with the Krupt family crest. I just meant the bandit leader who I recruited, I was trying to find a diplomatic name to call him instead of 'that random bandit over there'. Petriak might be a little presumptuous but he is not quite that bad. ![]()

![]() "You have yourself a deal my friend." Petriak gives the leader of the bandits a pleased smile as he claps him on the shoulder. "What do you call yourself?" After making himself more familiar with the abilities of his new employee Petriak approaches Svetlana and Oleg with a request. "I was hoping it would be possible to have my companions shit embroidered with the crest of the Petriak family. I would be happy to reimburse you for your time and it would be of great help. It is my hope that exposure to some real opportunity will keep banditry from his mind and that he could become a great help instead of a great burden to us on our explorations." Returning to the group Petriak seems pleased with the turn of events. "Well my friends with our new recruits helping Bydar and his project it seems that it is time for our next decision. I believe we should begin our charting initiative here around Oleg's Trading Post and move out from there. The better we know this land the more prepared we will be if our recruits old employers come calling. What do you say?" ![]()

![]() For now I'll give him his stuff back, with our next windfall I'll see about upgrading his equipment. You can take the value out of my GP won from the encounter or my own GP. Though what would it cost to get him a new tunic with the Krupt family crest sewn into it. I'm assuming a special order from Svetlana and Oleg? Petriak does like to retain a certain level of style. ![]()

![]() "Perhaps he and I can come to some arrangement." Petriak chimes in while Bydar works with the other men. His eyes intent on the bandit still under the sway of his charm Petriak gives the man another smile. "It seems like we have formed a good rapport I would say my friend. While Bydar may need help building his shrine to Shelyn I could use a man that knows the area. An assistant and bodyguard if you will." "I am not beyond the matter of repayment either." Petriak draws out a gold coin from his pouch. "I think an honest job in my service would be far better than finding yourself at the end of a noose my friend. You could do worse than finding a Sorcerer that can appreciate your talents." Diplomacy 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 ![]()

![]() Petriak taps one of his long fingers against his chin as he looks at the bandit leader in thought before turning to his companions. "I am of two minds on what to do with these bandits. It is the law of the Swordlords that unrepentant banditry has only one possible consequence, death. In our current situation we don't have the luxury of mercy, we are alone here and soon to be outnumbered by bandits if we are not careful. For every one that might repent we could end up with three intent on sliding a knife between our ribs. While my magic can help make them docile for a short time it is not much." "On the other hand locals familiar with the territory and the use of a weapon could prove valuable in time." Petriak admits with a shrug. "I say those who have no interest in surrender chose their fate already. In the future when these guards arrive it is possible we will have other options, but for now what else can we do?" ![]()

![]() "Hmm well he does sound like a charmer doesn't he." Petriak chuckles and nudged the bandit as if they are old friends. "Thanks for those locations on the map that is very useful getting us oriented. So just a few last questions and we can wrap this up. Does the Stag Lord ever get up this far north or does he stay down in his fort? Also tell me more about Kressle and her cronies, are they like your companions here or more experienced? Any of them throw around any magic or special tricks? If this Kressle is the second in charge she must be a tough woman." ![]()

![]() "Stag Lord?" Petriak asks with interest as he looks down at the small amulet. "He doesn't sound like a guy with much of a sense of humor. What else can you tell me about him? I'm guessing your associated with him, or work doing jobs for him? Was this one of them?" ![]()

![]() "Afternoon neighbor, I'm Petriak. We haven't had a chance to meet but I get the feeling you and I are going to be good friends." Petriak gives the bandit a wide smile as he sits down next to the guard and glances around the yard for a minute. His usual noble air has been replaced by a comfortable slouch and open manner. "Don't worry my friends and I are working on getting those ropes off of you, must be the side effect of some spell. While they are working on it I was hoping you and I could do a little talking." "What brings you out here to Oleg's on such a beautiful day? Someone send you out this way or on business of your own? We just arrived recently ourselves, bit of a work brought us down this way. I'm sure a local like yourself could tell me all kinds of interesting things." While keeping up the patter with the bandit Petriak removes the silver amulet and lets it drop to the end of its string to sway at the bandits eye level. Petriak glanced at it as though surprised by its sudden appearance."Actually I don't suppose you know what this thing is do you? I can't say I recognize the insignia." ![]()

![]() "But of course Bridgette." Petriak placed a hand over his heart. "I do not intend to resort to violence unless my hand is forced. It is my hope that a small enchantment and a little charm will help this bandit to see that honest is in his best interest." Once the bandit leader was in place, and the sleeping charm was just wear off, Petriak stepped forward to cast his spell. With slow languid movements Petriak wove out his spell, the words falling from his mouth in a hypnotic pattern. With one last snap of his wrist Petriak released his spell. "Charmarus Amoretium." ![]() Glancing over the pile of items stripped from the bandits Petriak taps his chin with interest. He stops at the sight of one of the silver amulets and picks it up by the chain examining it with interest before putting it into the pocket of his vest. "I'll keep a hand on this till the bandit leader wakes up, looks like some kind of talisman or device." "If someone wants to bring the leader over here we can wake him up and begin the interrogation as soon as I've had a chance to cast my spell." Petriak points to the now tied leader and waves them over to a spot away from the other bandits where they could talk more privately. "I'm very curious to hear what he has to say for himself." ![]()

![]() "Once we have them all restrained then we can start the information collection. The leader shouldn't be out for a bit longer, that spell usually puts them down for a bit." Petriak walks out from behind the cart with both hands threaded through his belt. Stopping for a moment he survey's the bandits with interest. "We should search them for weapon's and valuables as well. No telling what we can learn from the contents of a man's pockets." ![]()

![]() "If you can keep them tightly packed together I have a few tricks up my sleeve that will make their day go very badly." Petriak gives a dark smile as he holds up one hand and the palm bursts into a flicker of flame, his hand's shadow lengthening into a talon before he dissipates the spell with a wave. "I also have a spell that can put a small group of them to sleep and one that can enchant a person to consider me his friend. If we can keep one of the bandits alive we can interrogate him without most likely having to resort to . . . less civilized tactics." "If I remain behind the cart I'll be able to hit a group of them with my spell and hopefully sew chaos in their ranks quickly. Though I certainly hope someone wearing a bit more armor doesn't mind keeping them off of me once they realize where the fire is coming from." Petriak admits pointing over to the cart up against the wall of one of the buildings. ![]()

![]() "Thank you Oleg, we are happy to help." Petriak smiles at the trading post owner while the others head off to the guest house." "Could I get a mug of ale? All that travel has been thirsty work." Petriak handed Oleg a silver piece and once he got his drink followed the others out to the guesthouse to settle in. "Talking about our plan for tomorrow would be a good idea. Though with our talent for magic it would seem we should be at an advantage against the bandits. Chances are they have never seen more than a hedge witch out here in the wilds. If you can keep them grouped I have a few surprises that will keep them busy." ![]()

![]() "Bandits," Petriak says the word as though it leaves an unpleasant taste on his tongue. "I agree with my companions we are more than happy to help you with your bandit problem. If we are going to be administering and mapping the region a bandit presence would just serve as a constant irritation." "In the time they have come to your establishment have they ever shown any magical talent or purely martial?" Petriak asks with interest as he brushes off the road dust from their travel. ![]()

![]() "Greetings I am Petriak Krupt," Petriak introduces himself to both of their new traveling companions with a friendly smile and a distracted nod. Though Petriak does take a moment longer to smile brightly at Bridgette. "Greetings Goodwife Svetlana." Petriak takes the woman's hand and places a courtly kiss on the back of it before returning it to her. "Please if something is troubling you we would greatly like to know about it. Our group might not be guardsmen but we are sent here to be peace keepers and of course anyone who would worry a Lady sorely needs to be taken to task." Petriak follows along with the others and makes sure to stable his donkey before heading back out into the courtyard of the trade post to meet Oleg. ![]()

![]() "It would be foolish of me to believe that the other Houses would fail to see the advantage in the Stolen Lands." Petriak admits with a rueful smile to Bydar. "Though I admit I came of my own volition as well. It seemed like it was past time for me to find my own fortunes. I thank you for the offer Mark, I admit my skills are less . . . practical in nature." "An Oracle? That is certainly interesting. It isn't unlike a sorcerer, you don't always know where the power in your blood springs from." Petriak looked at Mark speculatively as he continued to munch on his apple. "Between the three of us it seems we have quite a variety of magical talent. I will certainly travel easier knowing I have two companions that can patch me up. Though I agree that knowing more of each other's potential may not be bad. It is possible our magical skills can be coordinated to be most effective." ![]()

![]() "Lebeda you say . . . interesting. I did not realize the other families had interests in the Stolen Lands" Petriak notes as he taps one long finger against his chin before giving a nod to the other members of the group. One hand idly slides down the front of his vest straightening it after hunching over the charter. The solid maroon vest was trimmed close to Petriak's body much like his trousers and a black cloak was pinned loosely around his shoulder with a pin in the shape of the crest of the Orlovsky family. The tight cut clothes hugged his body and showed off a lean frame while the dark colors complimented his deep brown eyes and short cropped black hair. "I am Petriak Krupt son of the house of Orlovsky." "I am a diplomat and sorcerer by trade. I am a practitioner of the arcane arts, my magic is less suited to healing and more suited to influencing the world." The young man supplied before uttering a short string of arcane words, an apple bobbing up from the packs on the back of his donkey outlined by a phantom blue hand. Floating through the air the apple dropped into his outstretched hand and Petriak bit into it and chewed with a satisfied smirk. ![]()

![]() Good catch Marketus I didn't mean to leave the horse on my list of equipment only his pack donkey. I am hoping we can get horses soon though in game since a nobleman like Petriak is going to start feeling silly walking around with a donkey as his companion, not all that Sorcerery. That is unless of course he starts claiming it is his familiar. ![]()

![]() It is a very sleek character template Marketus. I had one that I usually use that contains a lot of the same information but I was impressed with how sleekly yours contained everything, so I made the necessary tweaks. I'm spoiled by usually using the built in character sheets on a lot of the other forum sites. |
