Blessed Combat Maneuver check against Ro Ap Han's reduced Combat Maneuver Defense of 24: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 11 + 1 = 24 (success!)

That was close! This time Donkor's bless is the difference maker.

When the Reaver rises, he has Ro An Haps legs in a lock. He picks the Goliath right off the floor, while Karek maintains a grip on his arms. The guardian is one heavy opponent. He feels like he's made of stone or perhaps metal. He's also struggling madly, with his limbs flailing and his abdominal muscles pumping.

OOC: Hurgah talks a meandering move action with his Speed of 40 feet so he can set a flank opposite Karek and Breach.

"Rhuken-ka, Roth Koth Init. . . Vis-joth'nik!

Translation from Draconic:

*"If you swot me one more time, I swear I will eat you and ^&% you out!"

No wait, that's like Klingon. Hurgah isn't raging, I think he only invokes the draconic during a rage.

The Reaver then joins Karek in the grapple, diving to take out Ro An Hap's legs.

Drawing an attack of opportunity. . . no, no he doesn't - the grappled condition prohibits those.

With Ro An Hap tenaciously guarding his rear by placing it against the wall, there is little space left for Hurgah to close with his axe - at least not without enlarging and gaining reach as Karek and Breach have taken the immediate spots. No charge is possible.

He can though take a very meandering dash (move action) and circle around to Ro An Hap’s south side. There he can get a flank off of Karek’s position. Plus, he can prevent Ro An Hap from taking a five-foot step and attacking Moonpate, which seems to fit Hurgah’s modus operandi.

There is little chance I will get hurgah’s elaborate bonus structure correct, but I will give it a shot. He will take the +2 attack roll bonus (and dodge bonus).

Two-handed mwk greataxe raging power attack w/arcane strike and blessing of fervor:1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 12 + 2 = 15 (miss)

Hurgah races around to the guardian’s flank, but finds Ro An Hap prepared. When he brings his mighty axe down, the guardian brings his staff underneath and up, blocking the blow before the barbarian can achieve any leverage. The Reaver has though, along with Breach and Karek, pinned the guardian up against the wall, leaving him with no space to move.

Hurgah suddenly picks up the pace, leaving Moonpate and Karek in his wake. However, rather than continuing to run ahead, he suddenly dashes off to the side. He then quickly climbs the tallest dune he can find. Using it as a vantage point, he tries to get his bearings.

From the position of the fiery ball of sun overhead, he thinks they are still going the right way, gradually making headway towards the dig site. It is hard to know in the stillness of the desert and once the sun hits its apex in the center of the sky it will be even harder to tell their direction.

He can see the dust cloud left in the wake of his comrades below and behind him. If the assassin is still following them, he will not have any difficulty discerning where they have been. If anything, the assassin might be intimidated by this show of confidence. Clearly he will know that the Reaver has no fear of being tracked.

Hurgah scans the horizon looking for any similar signs of movement atop the dunes. He sees nothing, however, nothing but the infernal shimmers of heat that warp his vision the further out he casts his eyes. He levels a guttural draconic curse and slides down the dune, falling into step ahead of Moonpate and the struggling dwarf.

"Need to take a break, Karek?" chortles Hurgah as he lopes along seemingly effortlessly. "Perhaps we could stop and you could get a manicure."

Oh my god, he gave me the keys to the Ferrari! I’m sure there won’t be a scratch on it when I bring it back.

Softly, so as not to startle his fierce protector: "Friend Hurgah,..."

The draconic beast-man snaps from his sleep like a rocket, his clawed hand stretching for the wizard’s throat. At the last moment he stops himself before inadvertently throttling the Potentate. Instead he fixes him with an angry eye, letting it be known that he has been awakened prematurely.

Moonpate hands him Donkor’s note. The Reaver looks rather comical as his talon-like hands fumble with the tiny folded missive.“Gah!” he says crumpling the note in two fingers. “Wake the dwarf then wizard. We move!

While he waits for Moonpate to rouse Karek on the other side of the petrified dune, Hurgah thinks further on this to himself. “This was no sending spell. He did not recall Donkor employing such messaging magic. How would they know if this note was really from him? This could be a trap from the assassin who hounded him last night.”

“No,” he thought to himself. “The message referred to Krenshar and Bunky. If it was a fake, it was incredibly well scripted. He would be wise to assume it was real.”

He watched as Karek awoke, the dwarf not having had much more than a handful of minutes of sleep. Perhaps knowing his useless fuzz-ball companion had been found would rejuvenate him.

“We are far,” Hurgah said as though the implications of his understatement were obvious. “The dwarf’s legs are too stubby for us to arrive in time. Will we use conjured steeds? Or fly?”
