Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

I'm excited to see what happens next.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

That's usually a bad sign...

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Fish too keeps her eyes on the bird. If Shadow spots something, we'll get details.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

All this talk of clothes made me realize that Fish has probably been naked... a lot. 0_0

It cannot be unseen!

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

'I see, so you're the good pirate.'
'You are mistaken. I am the 'bad' pirate. He is the worse pirate.'

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

And he's the ruler of the Queen's navy!

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

I wonder how rakshasa souls taste?

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Thanks.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

True.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Ah. Okay then. Fish is obviously somewhat unsure of to put this, Cedrick's forcefulness and determination being a bit intimidating, but gamely presses on. I don't really know much about how navies properly run their ships, so I'll just follow your lead on that. What I'm really wondering is how this applies to the rest of us, and prisoners. More particularly, if you'll have objections to me collecting souls when I can. People seemed upset by my slave inquiries, so I thought it'd be best to see how others felt about souls. Do you think the crew would mind?

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

At Cedrick's inspiring words, Fish whispers an aside to Deader, Sounds like there will be souls and bodies aplenty. Stroking Spot, I need to collect for my bounty.

Why don't we do both? The Rock is a bit of a sail from here, so let's chart a leisurely course towards it, taking the time we need to really get a feel for our ship and crew. There's a good chance along the way we'll spot something juicy. *Edit ninja'd by Cedrick

When there's a moment to speak to Cedrick alone, You've mentioned disciple a few times, and now decency. What are you looking for, or rather expecting? Charon is not greedy, but souls are currency, food, and power.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

I too understand the pain of flavor over utility. What could be better in a pirate campaign than a sea-witch? Unfortunately, almost any other kind of witch. Same thing, to a lesser extant, with the feral tongue and water lung hexes. They are useful, don't get me wrong, but not as obviously useful as misfortune/cackle or evil-eye.

I like Fish the way she is though.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

I can see that. Doing my last post I looked up and saw 'Barb 4' and realized that I had no idea when that had happened. Thus a frantic mental search for the transition occurred, which somehow led to remembering where I'd stashed my favorite tie. Brains are weird.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Cedrick, when did you become a barbarian?

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Fish accompanies Cedrck for the tour, noting the differences, but keeping fairly quiet.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

I'm with ya sister. Diving for sunken treasure sounds mighty fine.

Looking to see what Cedrick thinks of the idea, A safe lair is never a bad thing, least in my experience.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Nachni's right. We need something to raid, and he probably has a few ideas.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Fish follows Obi's lead, examining the morningstar for magic. Spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

If we can have shambling mounds, why not shambling compost?

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

True. You are druid after all.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Very good thing to know.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

I'm curious, are the pirates in general against slavery, or is this town an exception?

Fish uses her ability to speak with animals to share anything interesting Shadow notices.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

That makes sense.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Can you make intimidate tools? Don't forget, I've got craft wondrous if you want some magical properties.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Fish generally sticks close to Obisyth and does whatever she does. Aside from purchasing some general spell components and a few containers to store things in, Fish is mostly interested in seeing if anyone has any slaves to sell, particularly any that are weak, sickly, or otherwise undesirable for some reason. Also pearls.

Captain! Please deduct 500gp from Fish's account. She's keeping the harp.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

We will miss Joneth and his daggers. Hope to see you again mate.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

No! Deader gets the bodies, and I get the souls. Nothing is wasted. Very environmentally conscience of us.

VoV, what are your thoughts on enchanting ships? Can you enchant a ship as a single item, or could you only enchant individual components?

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Well said.

As Deader speaks Fish looks at him with fascination and not a little horror. Whispering to Obi, I think I'm in love. I've never met someone who understood before. He gets it.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Poor Cedrick. ^_^

Other captains get slaves, drunks, ex-military. You get... sea-witches, necromancers, and foreign princesses.

Deader, I've got to ask, how did we come to the same idea? Fish more than most knows what can happen to souls out there. Better to stay here, outside the reach of gods and daemons, mostly.

Body and soul my friend, body and soul.
Between you and me Deader, they'll sail the seas for eternity. Sometimes together, sometimes apart, but sail they will.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

And once I have the time to create items, free health care for everyone! Hail the free-floating republic of Deaderstan!

Joneth: By skills Joneth is actually pretty up there. He has good diplomacy, bluff, and sense motive modifiers. All important for a captain. Nice intelligence and decent wisdom and charisma. Also appears to be the only one who worships Besmara. (Why didn't you claim Sandra's hat?)

Cedrick: Intimidate, Diplomacy, but lacking sense motive. Why no ranks in Sailor mid-shipman? He and Joneth have the advantages of close to normal appearances, stable personalities, and non-freaky abilities. They are tough fighters with social skills. Pretty important when dealing with human warrior crew members.

Nachni: Inspiring and charismatic, but no ranks in the social skills! Nachni, you were first choice before seeing those! Unusual, but not off-putting, appearance. Some magic, enough for mystery and prestige, but not enough to freak people out.

I recommend one of these three for captain and/or first-mate. We can look at one of the other three for the role, these seem best choices.

Deader: Stats and some skills, but just way too off-putting as captain. We don't yet have the reputation to pull it off. Also crazy. However, famous crazy, we call them eccentric, people have to start somewhere. Recommended as: Deader(supervising officer of the ambulatory deceased and other positive-energy challenged crew)

Fish: Deader, you flatter me. I've six, or seven, ranks that could be used this level to give her some social skills, intimidate would be the easiest, but sense motive is going to be important and this will never be her strong suit. Also, she's a 100lbs, female, and looks Gollom-ish. Doesn't really seem captain material. Sea-witch abilities are a definite plus, and she is smart. Recommended as: ship's witch.

Obi: Penalties to intelligence and charisma don't seem like good qualities in a captain. Though she does have the required physical presence. Her sailing and profession skills make her excellent for supervising crew activity. Recommended as: bosun

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Jumping the shark:
Just realized that it may not be time for this yet, depending on what happens with Nachni's spell. This is Fish's actions assuming Scourge gets away.

To Obisyth's question, Not enough time to tell, but seems likely. I can give you water breathing if you want to chase him.

Realizing that Plugg is truly dead and gone, Fish kicks the corpse in frustration. Bastard son of a whore! I'll put a bounty on your soul so high that not even the Boneyard will protect you!

Turning to the sailors, I have just lost something very precious, so unless you would like to give your own souls as replacements, gather the crew and be quick about it. Leave your weapons on the deck.

Sandra, can you help Obi with Cedrick? Once the sailors have gone below decks, Fish addresses the group. I know little about ships and crews, but it seems we ought to have command sorted out before everyone else arrives. So, who will be our captain? Not I.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Thanks.

Everyone, I'm trying to decide on my two spells for leveling up, any requests/suggestions?

HP1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Favored class: HP

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Is this Ding the ding which all adventures desire, or is it some other ding?

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Is Plugg actually dead, or just negative, and can Fish tell?

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

VoV - Thanks.

Don't worry Shifty, I'm cool with it. Although I had been rather wistfully looking at a lesser rod of maximize...

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Certainly. Mind if I switch out Enlarge Person as well since it can't affect any of us?

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Oh. May I propose an alternative action for Fish?

Alternative actions:

Fish will take a 5-foot step back to H6, cast Cure Light Wounds on herself, and hang on to the lash.
Concentration1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
CLW1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Str,Dex,Con=Plugg1d6 ⇒ 61d6 ⇒ 31d6 ⇒ 2

If that isn't possible, Fish will simply cast CLW and remain in place, hoping that the sailors miss and her allies can reach her in time.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Oh my, things have gotten exciting. 4 + 5 + 9=18 damage, so HP is 1. Fish's current AC is 15 due to Mage Armor.

As the pirate's weapons savage her, Fish attempts to escape back to the sea with her prize.Withdraw action. Moving to H6, back to H5, then jumping down into H4. Banzai! Let's see how Plugg reacts to 45Kg attempting to snap his neck. VoV, Limp Lash has maximum length, HP, hardness, and does not end if you attempt to move beyond 20ft. It's solid. So this should work. And my strength might even be better than his now! To everyone in the boast, they're distracted! Also, HELP!

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Apologies VoV. Casting Limp Lash, targeting Plugg. First roll was concentration for being entangled, second was attack, third was damage. Not casting defensively, hoping the pirate doesn't have combat reflexes.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Obi, could you take a 5' step to the right.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Glaring at the pirate between her and Plugg, Obi, Plugg is mine. Help me get there. Dearest friend, I would be most obliged if you turned that sailor before us into red goo. Also, if you would be so kind as to move to the right, you august presence stands betwixt me and destiny.

I may not be able to post until monday. So here are the rolls for once Obi goes. Fish will move to J6 then either J7, if the pirate is down, or I7, if pirate is up, taking the AoO.
Concentration, attack(Plugg), damage1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 251d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 2 = 201d6 ⇒ 6

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Fish wraps her thin arms around the enlarged Obisyth's neck, piggy-backing herself onto her friend.

DM:

Given that Obisyth's enlarged reach should let her grasp the ropes from her current position, and make it easier to reach the top, Fish is just going to hold on and let her do the hard part. I figure this will use up Fish's turn, but if you feel she'll have something left once that climb is finished, just let me know. Not sure what to roll to hang on, but here are my two best guesses.

Climb 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
CMB 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
*Edit Hmm, hope it's the later.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Alright, currently we have a Mage armor on myself and Nachni. Enlarge person on Obi.

Once the skiff enters the circle of light around the ship, Fish nods to Obi, casting the enlarging spell. Spells cast, they surface. Fish waits on Obi to decide on the right moment to climb.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Soul for intelligent undead makes sense to me. Zombie Scourge is plenty fine. Also, wow, this was a busy weekend.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Hey Deader and DM, thoughts on an idea.

Say we capture Plugg and Scourge. Would it be possible to infect them, take soul, have them turn into ghouls, then Deader control them? Looking at the information for ghoul fever, it says, 'A humanoid who dies of ghoul fever rises as a ghoul at the next midnight.' So, would we have to let them die strictly of the disease for them to rise, our could we help the process along?

Reason I ask, it sounds cool. Imprisoning their souls and turning their bodies into our undead slaves just seems so... evil, and how often do you get a chance to let out your inner villain? Plus, it'd give us a hell of reputation.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Alright, so current line-up is Enlarge Person, 2x Mage Armor. Yes?

Smiling at her friend, Fish turn to Deader, Can ghouls rise without a soul?

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

I've gotcha covered Obi. I can prepare another if someone wants it, or a another mage armor for someone, I'm thinking of you Nachni, though it would boost Joneth up a bit too. Make your requests people! Also, if at all possible I want Plugg and Scourge alive! Just til tomorrow when I can put out two cacodaemons and we can hold their miserable souls in the palms of our hands! Mwahaha!

Fish's eyes gleam as the discussion turns to the impending death, and worse, of those who wronged her. I can make a magical armor for those that need it. Obi and I can scout the ship if that is best, or we can all head out there together, no need to worry about breathing. Up to you. Regardless, I want Scourge and Plugg alive, so at next sundown I can tear out their living souls! This is probably the most intense you've seen Fish get about anything. Let's walk across the bottom, Pirates style!

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Making a face, Fish laughs. That's terrible.

Female Tiefling Witch 4, HP 26/26, AC 13/T13/FF10, F/R/W +2/+4/+3, Per -1

Cast Summon Cacodaemon. Cacodaemon used Soul Lock to turn soul into soul gem. You can use souls to make magic items, in trade to evil outsiders, or just dick around with a enemy's existence. No afterlife for them unless you say so. Plan was to use it to create a magic item for Fish, but figured Obi should get the whale's soul. Plugg and Scourge are mine though.
